Unless you simply disbelieve the article I'm not sure what is to be taken with a grain of salt. It is what it is; a child that was HIV positive no longer is.
Of course you can't prove a negative. There will always be a chance that the HIV virus could be hiding somewhere dormant in this child. She could even be unknowingly re-infected. Her mom is a known carrier.
Still, the distinction of being cured is one that has only been bestowed upon one other individual thus far in the search for this deadly disease. It's not an earth-shattering breakthrough, but it's advancement...an advancement with a big dollop of hope attached to it.
