Took my second soldering class for jewelry yesterday. We made Fused pendants out of Sterling Silver scraps and my turn out nicer then the others. I try not to shine over the rest of the class, but the time I spend making jewelry at home and practicing with my torch, shows in class. I also was the only one to finish filing the silver band ring and got it soldered, pickled and polished before the end of the class. I was able to wear it home.

Once home I learn my daughter had her cell phone stolen and needed to have paper work scanned and uploaded to the insurance company. So I gave her use of my desk top, while her boyfriend and I tried to get the Wi-Fi to work with our laptops. Not sure why it kept dropping, but whatever it was seem to be affecting our neighbors Wi-Fi too.

Today I go back to working in Copper or Brass, as I am trying to get a few new pieces done before Memorial Day weekend, for the Art Show at Balticon 47. Nothing else plan for the weekend.

I took a jewelry class in high school so many years ago and remember a bar of sterling silver was all of $4.25 to purchase. I don't remember the dimensions but it was enough to make a ring band out of or a pendant. Can't imagine what it'd cost these days to take that class.

The students who couldn't/wouldn't shell out for silver got free nickle-silver and "Nu Gold" which was copper and zinc. Both were just for making stuff to grade and not really wear since they'd turn your appendages green.

Do you ever make eye-glasses cords?

Oh and yesterday I found this site and spent way too much time virtual window shopping (considering I'm never going to 'make' anything - I just love beads).

The supplies for the class was $45. I looked at buying some silver, but my wallet couldn't handle the prices for wire or small ovals of silver 20 gauge sheets.

Elinda, the site looks nice, but I got far more beads then I'm using these days. I just don't get the satisfaction beading as I do working with metal.

After the "splitting our services" Netflix debacle, I canceled my subscription. A few days ago, I wanted to start watching a series Netflix has available so I figured if I logged into my old account for a second, they'd throw some sort of offer at me. Sure enough, about an hour later I had an email in my box from them saying to come back... and offering no deal at all. You're not playing the game right, Netflix Smiley: glare

Most of our weekends will probably be pretty low-key until June 6th, when we leave for 4 nights in Waikiki. I can't wait... I haven't had a "Go do whatever you want" type vacation in a few years. My last vacation was going back to Tennessee to visit the family, and as much as I LOVED seeing everyone, it wasn't quite the relaxing, "do what you want" vacation that I'm craving.

A "vacation" to Tennessee is not a vacation!

I forgot what island you're on, Belk. Is it Oahu? We didn't spend much time in Waikiki when we were there.

This weekend looks like it's going to be suffering through an extended flare-up of my back. Wasn't bad enough that I was bed-ridden all day Tuesday, then in the E.R. all night, then had wicked ****-pee ever since...oh, no, my spine is still playing the part of shattered glass. I'm *supposed* to hang new closet rods, seed the yard and enter a pizza-eating contest this weekend. We'll see...
