Here's the scenario: you get a tattoo of the company's logo (cost is covered, I might add) and you get a 15% pay raise. Just to add another twist it doesn't have to be anywhere normally visible or anything. You can hide it on your body somewhere and no one has to know except your significant other and your boss. (wasn't worth the effort to make that not sound dirty Smiley: tongue) So, do you do it?

Would you get the tattoo for a raise?
Yes, will you ink me already?:19 (48.7%)
No, my body is not sponsored.:11 (28.2%)
No, I have no room left for another tattoo.:0 (0.0%)
Can't, I'm unemployed and live in my parent's basement.:1 (2.6%)
Don't care; just here to +1.:8 (20.5%)
Total:39

I have to admit I haven't made up my mind yet. 15% is pretty big; early in a career that could add up a lot over time. It's surprisingly tempting especially if you don't mind your employer or anything. At the same time, it's not like I go around wearing the t-shirts I have either.

Think think...

Edit: What the hell, I chose yes... Smiley: lol

You bet your *** I would take the money to get inked somewhere I could cover up. Maybe the bottom of my foot so I could always be walking on the company logo, which would cheer me up if I was in a bad mood.

Unless that bad mood was from an infected foot tattoo, of course.

Yes, cause once I prove I have the tattoo the 15% raise will pay for the removal.

Sure, I'd do it. Been lucky enough to not work at any place that I'm not relatively proud of, and though I don't have any, I'm perfectly fine with tattoos - even "insignificant" ones.

Our company doesn't really have a logo, though. Just a letterhead. Mebbe I could turn it into an armband.

No.
Why?
'Cos its a short step from this (looking like a ****), to this (looking like a ****) or even like this (etc).

The sort of company that would want you to do this isn't the sort of company that would be paying much anyway, I wouldn't have thought, so 15% of not much is sod all anyway.

Thanks for asking tho.

So getting a tatoo of an American flag is worse than getting a Nike tatoo?

Getting a Nike advertisement is just the beginning... but it leads to horrible flag tatoos, and eventually bar coding!

If you just told the tattoo artist that you want "a bar code" on the back of your neck, probably either condoms or a *****.

Leave it to paulsol to apply the slippery slope fallacy to a silly, fun poll.

Fun poll or not branding human beings to establish corporate ownership has some pretty uncomfortable historical connotations imo. But please, if your comfortable with it, go get it done. Its your skin/mucous membrane.

Been at my company six years now. Seriously not moving any further up the company ladder but would do this. Always cover it with something I do want when I quit/get fired.

Free ink and a pay raise? I can't imagine saying no unless it was an absolutely ridiculous design.

I thought this was about tattoos? Inky things - that can be removed.

That would be a nice chunk of change. Still, I don't think I'd do it now, as I really don't plan on being with the company that much longer. If it would have been offered years ago when I first started, it would have added up quickly. Doing the math it would be something like 80-85k over the last 9 years. That ain't nothing to sneeze at. And laser removal surgery wouldn't be that much in the grand scheme of things.

I suppose it's no worse a commitment than some of these dimwits who get their girlfriend/boyfriend's name tatooed on themselves. At least you'd be getting paid for this.

Chapter 11 or sold to private equity and gutted within 5 years. Non novel business model that really works in maybe 10 cities in the short term. Good PR stunt, terrible business plan. Average the 15% out over the next 5 years, and decide if the value of your tattoo space is worth it or not.

Sure, I wouldn't mind doing it.

I did have a similar reverse offer. I was told that if I had a small tattoo on my neck removed, I would then be eligible for a promotion and a raise. Tempting, but then I decided that the cost of getting it removed wouldn't be worth the increase from $8.00/hr to $8.25.

$0.25/hour will pay for that tattoo removal in, what, a few years?
