Having a big get together with people I've been deployed with, whether they're still in or not, and the people I'm currently working with, and having a big barbeque type party. Lots of drinking and dead animals. Maybe a rogue vegetable if it sneaks in. Then going to the driving range to hit little white spheres as far as I can just to **** off varus. Have to find some time in there to go over training schedule and teams for next week's qualification range. I think I'll just wing that one.

Significant enough plans for a weekend thread, or just an extra post? You decide.

There's a difference? Smiley: confused

My youngest turns 2, so we'll also doing the ritual dismemberment of small animal thing. In all likelihood though, it will be overshadowed by my brother-in-law who looks like he's getting forced out of his business by his partner. Should be some good dramas there.

Other than that I plan to be hiding in the corner playing video games; Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and SWTOR mostly.

Happy birthday mini proteinguy!

We're entering the final week of school for the spawns. I decided to volunteer to make the video/slideshow for Xavier's fifth grade "graduation" ceremony, so this weekend I am taking advantage of grandparents living nearby and shipping the kids to them for a couple days. That way I can work, uninterrupted on going through the photos and trying to make something that won't embarrass the kid too much. Alongside that I'm hoping to finally see Iron Man 3, and maybe get some kayaking in. Oh, I also plan on getting trashed with Ms. Tare!

I decided to use a couple of my vacation days to turn this into a five day weekend. So far I've taken a pretty awesome nap. I do have some spring cleaning I've been putting off, so I might get to that since I'll have the time. Aside from that, no real plans. I rarely get more than a day or two off at a time, so I'm going to thoroughly enjoy doing nothing for a bit.

I've got moving to do so that's all I'll be doing, aside from having dinner at my mom's place.

I had friday off already, which would have made it a 4 day weekend, but I decided to burn some leave as well and make it a 6 day weekend of doom! Sunday or Monday-ish I'll be hosting a memorial day style barbique (My infamous ribs, chicken teriyaki kabobs, etc). The first of my artichokes should also be ready to eat that day, and they shall be et with great equinamity and gnashing of teeth. Because of the chewing...

Anyways, I dunno what I am going to be doing for the rest of it, but it may involve either home repairs, going to various beach type locations, and or possibly a concerted attempt to finish the last remaining projects to get the CNC mill fully operational.

Family friends are having a cook-out on Sunday so we'll go there and do that. Then spend the actual holiday at the house. Quietly contemplating military service, no doubt.

Jonwin got Friday through Monday off, as it's the weekend of Balticon 47. Together we will run Special Needs, Babysit the grand kids Sunday night during the Tech Party.and if lucky will last until the Dead Dog Party Monday after the truck is pack with all of the Balticon gear. Not staying at the Convention Hotel, as we broke from paying off new roof, just put on house. Instead we will be 3 miles down the road hoping that our room doesn't have bed bugs.

I am also putting some items in the Art Show, so I get a special ribbon and if lucky will sell most of the pieces. Last year I sold 4 items and made 42 dollars, from people who bid the minimum I would accept. This year I'll raise the minimum as I'm now a pro at this. Will have one pendant that is not for sale, since it is first fused Sterling Silver piece I done so far. Sterling Silver ring is for sale though. Rest of the Jewelry is copper and I have four brass plaques, one that I did for a Five tool Challenge in Jewelry Artist Magazine and the other three I did just for fun and the fact that I had extra brass to use. Photo are on Facebook of several of the items and that is were I'll be posting any photos of Balticon this year due to fact that I'm not a premium member here.

I have just Monday off, but my slate is clear for tomorrow, so I'll be catching up on paperwork...

Memorial Days we have a parade in town, so there's that. And apparently we're picking up a kitten for the baby, since my wife's friends' uncle died, and he ran an animal shelter, and they're trying to get rid of critters before they're disposed of. And I guess it's the weekend to fire up the Weber. So, grillin'.

I'm surprised that you don't have a 4 day weekend. I thought that was the standard. In any case, I'm about to move, so I'm getting ready for the movers, getting some more ffxi in and start studying for my CISSP.

I have today off - some guy coming over to measure a room for carpeting. I have plants I have to get into the garden very soon. It's raining like a sieve right now though.

Sunday, I'm taking the train into Bah'ston, meeting up with some kidlets and going to various markets.

I'd like to get out to see Star Trek over the long weekend but doubt if I'll pursue that very hard.

General consensus on Zam is that it's great as an action movie, and the feelings on it as a Trek movie are split. I loved it, other people less so. I don't think I remember seeing anyone say they hated it as a Trek movie though. I think Kao was the biggest dissenter.

Anyway, I'm... doing pretty much nothing. I live on the Jersey shore, so traffic will be a pain in the *** for at least 2/4 days.

I have to do some work, in the form of proofing/editing grant proposals.

So, yeah, fun weekend.

I didn't say I hated it, I just was dissappointed that it didn't live up to its potential given the character subject matter, and there were a bunch of really bad plot holes and inconsistancies that detracted from the experiance. It's a good trek movie, but not a great one.

That's what I was trying to convey (great as an action movie, split opinion on it as a trek movie, tried to steer clear of loaded language). Sorry if that wasn't clear.

When did we start this nonsense? If you graduate from every grade level, there really isn't a drive to get to the actual graduation, IMO. It's this "nobody loses" soccer game crap.

Presumably they're going from elementary school to middle school so it's something beyond just advancing a grade. On the other hand, my kid just had his 8th grade graduation last night and they took pains to call it a "promotion ceremony" rather than graduation. He didn't have anything special for leaving 5th grade aside from an awards presentation for students who had excelled in grades and stuff.

I had a middle school 8th grade "graduation" ceremony way back in the dawn of time so that's nothing new.

Boy, I feel old since back in *my* day, elementary school lasted through 6th grade, then 7-8th were "junior high" then 9-12. And yes, there were ceremonies for "graduating" 6th and 8th grades.
