It's a good thing we've gotten used to losing championships over the last few years. in Boston...

Heartbreaking loss, but no rioting.

The only solace I can take in the Bruins losing is that the Canuck fans are still pissed off because the only other team they may hate as much as the Bruins won.

I had wondered a couple times why there was no chest-thumping going on with all the Bostonians and Chicagoan's around here. I blamed it on Tare's indifference.

Isn't this a strike year? Was this not a scab team?

Whatever, grats Faux Hawks.

Anyone over 30 had a childhood of terrible Bruins teams, indifferent management and ownership that essentially stated "We don't care at all if the team ever wins a game so long as people keep showing up". I say childhood, but really it was like 20 years. The Red Sox were inept forever, but at least you had the feeling they were trying to win. The Celtics won most of the time, the Patriots were awful, but, again, you got the feeling they wanted to improve. The Bruins just did not care. Hence the (relatively) large number of people around my age who don't care about them. If they like Hockey, they likely found another team to care about. The Maple Leafs in my case.

Edit: Oh, and most of the Chicago posters are nebbishy coke bottle glasses wearing poindexter types. When Chicago starts a pro Quidditch team, they might pay attention to sports, otherwise, I wouldn't expect much regardless of which of their teams is doing well or poorly.

I kept my mouth shut because I'm sick of hockey. I'm tired of all these ******* strikes and lockouts. The sport is a complete ******* mess.

Unfortunately, the Bruins put on a run and pulled me back in. I'm pissed off enough still though, to not really care that they lost.

My biggest disappointment with the Bruins was that Jagr chose to look like a carnie instead of bringing back that glorious mullet. With his Samson-esque powers returned, maybe he wouldn't have looked like a pylon out there.

Edit: Also, if we're comparing tortured fan bases and malevolent ownership, I'd like to bring to your attention the Cubs and Bill Wirst, respectively.

I picked them early and never gave up hope (was there ever any doubt?). To top it off my boy Bolland scored the cup winning goal. If I lived in Chicago I'd have a Bolland jersey.

My hockey team defaulted to the Black Hawks when the North Stars left MN. But then when I moved east the NHL just vanished from my frontal lobe.

Though Nick Leddy is the son of a school-mate of mine. I've watched his career progress via fb.

Wow, you choose the obvious heavy favorite and then somehow managed not to give up hope when they were briefly down by 1 game? If only more people had your courage.
