A couple days ago I read an interview Roberts gave to Atlantic (? CSM?) where he was bragging about the quality of drugs on his site due to user feedback and thought "Well, this character is getting mighty cheeky..."

Makes me wonder what the biggest was. Those things haven't been around that long, have they?

I want to hear him yelling "AS YOU WISH" as they drag him off in handcuffs.

Couldn't find the article I read a few days ago but, in looking, I saw news that bitcoin prices were taking a wash with the Silk Road bust. Guess virtual currency isn't as desired if you can't use it to buy mail order pot and Vicodin.

I think a lot of people were also under the mistaken impression that since it was digital/imaginary, it could not be "seized" in the way that it just was. No tax havens allowed.

I guess this guy had previously paid a hitman to kill another Silk Road user as well. But the hitman was an undercover FBI agent (surprise!) and the FBI staged a fake murder. So that's two murders Ulbricht tried to have done.

Just in case you thought internet drug dealers were classy guys.

But all the hitmen were an undercover FBI agents

There are times that it seems like the primary job of the FBI is play pretend hitmen.

All the hitmen ever.

I'm not sure real hitmen, accessible to the common man, exist outside of video games and films. I'm sure gangs and organized crime have their own in-house goons they'd send to kill someone but I'm never, ever going to find a "legitimate" freelance guy who kills for cash.

So which three letters are the ones that pretend to be thirteen year old boys on the internet? I mean as part of their job, not as a hobby.

"Accessible to the common man" is a wierd sort of caveat. The common man isn't in the market for this service, and as such it doesn't market itself to that customer base. Could a common man purchase that sort of service? Yes. Keep in mind professionals are expensive, but non-professionals are somewhat less so.

I'm not sure the average person could find a hitman if they wanted to; at least without winding up in jail, or dead or something.

So much easier to just go pick up a free gun in Florida and do it yourself.

Not in the US, certainly. In most of Asia you could probably find someone willing to kill a stranger for $100 without real difficulty or risk. Wait, no, I could. You they would assume were representing some sort of Candid Camera operation.

Those services are also availiable in the US, if somewhat more discreet.

Not really. I thought it was obvious that I meant "someone not involved in a criminal organization that would use their own people". I doubt the Russian mob is combing the back ads in Soldier of Fortune when they need someone killed.

Could joe blow find someone willing to do this if he was sufficiently motivated? Yes.

Pricing and risk dictate that it is very uncommon.

I tend to think most criminal conspiracies don't outsource that sort of thing. Well, Wall Street, probably, but certainly not that many.

He was offering to kill Nexa for a bag of onions. It's slang. Don't you learn anything up there?
