Is that they make everybody else's politicians look less scummy and corrupt in comparison.

As this bloke proves. He is accused/suspected of having forced his 32 year old secretary to sign a contract in which she had to have sex with him 4 times a month. This classy act was discovered while he and his secretary were being investigated for corruption.

Stay classy Italy.

You'd think putting it in writing would take away some of the fun.

Threaten not to hire them if they don't.

That and intimidation, lock the door and don't let them leave until the contract is signed or something.

She's quoted as saying she was "afraid" not to. So, yeah, intimidation.

As far as I could see though the only proof they have of her being forced is her saying she was forced to sign which is a little shaky at best.

On one hand I can't imagine it's easy to come up with proof she was forced to sign it. On the other, it seems like it's an easy way to cover your own *** while jumping out the window.

Are jobs so hard to find in Italy that this is the best you could hope for?

I know nothing about the laws in Italy, but I don't see why she couldn't have signed the contract then immediately taken a copy to the police or a lawyer and started legal recourse.

I dunno, the guy is/was part of Berlusconi's party and Berlusconi has changed laws to evade prosecution before and yet people still kept voting for him.

Why didn't she go to police or something after allegedly being bullied into a contract that essentially made her a sex slave.

Seems to me like she is using the Bonnie Parker cop out. Clyde made me do it your honor...I swear...he was so abusive, menacing and scary, he made me do all sorts of things against my will. He said he would hurt me and my mama if I didn't do what he asked.

I don't think id ever be desperate enough to take a job where I become a sex slave....well depending on the pay and benefits and whose slave I would be of course.

She didn't want to end up with a severed racehorse hed in her bed since it was an offer she couldn't refuse.

Doubly so given that she was "forced" into accepting nearly $5k/month in additional salary (more than 3 times her base) in return for the sex. Maybe I'm just a cynic, but that sure looks to me like she was a willing partner to the whole thing.

That's not really anyone else's understanding of the word "cynic". I think I would have remember the part in Philosophy 201 where we learned that Antisthenes said "that ***** was totally asking for it, right? I mean, no marks, am I right or what? I'm totally right."

Aside from the more obscure definition, it is really everyone's understanding of the word "cynic":

Quote:
1. a person who believes that people are motivated purely by self-interest rather than acting for honorable or unselfish reasons.

I happen to believe that her motivations were less about fear and more about selfishness (ie: getting paid for doing her boss).

Yeah. Rapists normally pay their victims $60k/year in addition to threatening them if they don't have sex with them. Seriously? WTF man.

Oh we know. I'm not sure how many times this has to be explained to you, but your position on any issue is known to us all long, long, long before you post. Because they're unrelated to thought or opinion, and instead are just a simple flowchart. I just looked over to the section that showed "Man accused of sexual assault?" and followed the arrow to "Woman's fault".

So you agree that I correctly used the term "cynic"? Well, that's progress, at least.

Hence, the whole "cynic" bit. And in this case, I don't think I'm even remotely in the minority with my opinion.

I think it's way too early to say but it makes a great headline so the media ran with it.

As I said above somewhere, the evidence is shaky at best but have you seen the guy's face? $5000/month doesn't seem like enough to make that look attractive.
