Merry Christmas eve Asylumites! What's going on tonight and tomorrow? Any big plans?

This is the first year that Xavier is joining the secret Santa club and he's thrilled. For the most part, he's been pretty good about keeping mum in front of his brothers, but there was once or twice this morning that I had to give him the look before he forgot himself.

We're visiting family this evening and tomorrow everyone is coming here for a casual Christmas day. Normally we only do presents on Christmas Day (aside from PJ's to wear to bed tonight) but Sick and I had one special gift to give the boys this afternoon. After six years of working to become debt free and in a good financial position, we put in an offer for a house that was accepted last night. If all goes smoothly, we'll be moving into our new house end of February, and finally, my boys will have a big backyard to stay out and play in until dark.

Merry Christmas folks!

Congratulations on the house!

Well, what with the move back to the mainland, and a trip up to my moms for Thanksgiving, we'll be spending Christmas alone this year, just the husband and I. I have a new job working from home, and I have to work tonight and tomorrow night, so that sort of limits what we can do. But tonight after I get done slaving, we'll probably find something to watch on Netflix or whatever and tomorrow, we're going to get up and see Anchorman 2 before I have to start work, so that will be nice. I might make a nice xmas dinner, depends on how I feel and what the husband wants to pick up from the store on his way home tonight.

We generally get together this evening for crackers and cheese and games and stuff, followed by the traditional 1 present opening. Tomorrow we reconvene and have christmas breakfast.

Today I have to finish wrapping everything on the planet.

Edit: I forgot to congratulate you on the new house DSD, so gratz!

Nothing tonight since Dutch people don't care about Christmas night, instead we add a second day of Christmas at the back end.

So tomorrow most of my mom's side of the family will be at my aunt's place for "tapas" except none of those will be remotely Spanish in nature and they probably won't be particularly good or interesting either but on the plus side my cousin is back in the Netherlands for Christmas for the first time since he started working in Uganda so it will be nice to see him.
Then Thursday is a simple dinner at my mom's place which she'll inevitably make fancier anyway despite claiming that she's not going to over and over again but I don't mind because that means a fancy bottle of wine, good cheese and good food and I like that.
And finally Friday we're moving the whole thing to my sister's place where I'll desecrate their brand spanking new kitchen by attempting to cook a 5 course meal with fancy dishes that my brother is going to look weird at before disclaiming that he'd rather go to McDonalds but I'll enjoy myself thoroughly and the company will be good so he can suck it.

And for new year's I'll sit on my couch with my cats drinking fancy beer and eating cheese hoping not too many people will call me because I need to mentally prepare myself for packing up everything I own and moving for the second time in less than a year (thank god there's stuff I still haven't bothered to unpack Smiley: lol).

I work tonight. In the morning, I will be going over to my folks' house for tamales and the opening of gifts that we didn't open when my sister was in town last week. Then I do laundry to get the dog hair off my work pants and go to bed so I can once more go to work that night.

Low key event here. Staying in and and doing gifts and a nice breakfast then pretty much lounging around. We're doing a larger event with the local family in about a week but even that won't be super-fancy.

The wife and her coworkers decided to take their families into the Catskills for a week of skiing and such. Guess what happened to me? I went to get the @#%^ing bags out of the van and caught the bad end of some black ice and landed on my shoulder, dislocating it. Arm and two fingers broken, shoulder is bruised black, two ribs are cracked, and seven stitches to the side of the head where it bounced (twice!) off the ground. At least no concussion, because I need more of those. While my little one has been exposed to my language on the rare occasion and understands when and where those types of words are appropriate, there are now seven children between three and fifteen who have expanded their vocabulary considerably, and a couple less than thrilled parents.

So I'm the designated babysitter for the week while everyone else has fun outside. Well, right now even the little ones are outside playing and having fun and I'm watching TV.

So to answer the original question I'm basically tripping on Vicodin.

Ahhh, Lolgaxe, that really sucks. Your description caused me to wince and chuckle simultaneously. Enjoy that Vicodin!!! And thanks all, for the congrats'. It's not a done done deal, but I don't think that there is any reason either side wants to back out as far as I know.

Sorry Shadow =(

Enjoy it while it lasts. Come the beginning of the year the old formulations are being discontinued. Just because people abuse the hell out of the stuff and destroy their livers is no reason to change it in my opinion, but the DEA didn't consult me.

Oh, as to the holiday thing, turkey, ham, lots of sides, and a bunch of people that I wish would get the hell out my house a lot sooner than they will.

Still wrapping things. Nexa doesn't allow us to leave the house on Christmas day, my parents are geographically the closest so they come over for breakfast. We'll go to Skyrim to see Nexa's family later in the week, then the presents from Europe will arrive. It's more of a week long festival, really. I'm fairly certain Hannah knows about Santa, but plays along. She asked me once last summer if Santa was real. I said "do you really want to know?" and she said "Yes" so I said "nope, just pretend". Then she ran off sobbing and I chased after her saying "no, wait, he's real, wait!"

Ah, parenting.

If it makes you feel any better Lolgaxe, I totally got hammered tonight. I got recruited to help assemble a toy car for the Nephew, one of them big plastic kid sized joibbers. Anyways, long story short, their method for installing the axle endcaps is stupid, and since their stupid "safety mount" axle driver shifted a the last second, I ended up hitting a finger full force straight on target, couldn't have hit it better if I tried. It's cracked on the top.

Also built this last night, oddly. Well this, but I can't imagine given your description that it's anything else. No injuries, but I said to Nexa multiple times "this doesn't really seem like the best assembly process....

Yeah, it was the truck version of that one. Specifically one of the front wheels where you flip it over and balance it on that little cone and supposedly hammer the back of the axle to set the axle cap. The cone tipped over as the hammer was going down. Turns out it was much easier and safer just to hit the damned cap directly with the hammer. that worked much better

We got the little guy an indoor trampoline.

What, no Jarts? I'm sure there is some way that it's fine, but that sounds horribly unsafe.

We started early this year on the 22nd due to some people in my generation getting married. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, but it turned out really nicely. I do immediate family in the morning Christmas day, so with my parents and siblings, after a mammoth breakfast that keeps us going all afternoon. It's been good. Now off to extended family affairs.

Next year is one of those chemistry sets that has all the jars of chemicals and a BB gun.

It's just some 36" diameter bouncy surface with a handlebar. I suppose he could topple the 14" height onto the floor below but he can already do that on the couch or beds.

Had dinner with my family last night and open up presents.

Was suppose to go over to Jowin Brother's house to see his family today, but I became ill this morning and been spending the day, constantly running to the bathroom. Trying to stay hydrated and pray it nothing more then IBS and UI track fighting each other for who can be more bothersome. Not enough to run off to see a doctor about, as this isn't the first time the IBS setting off the UI track.

Jowin got a suit, much needed wallet and hair trimmers, all which he picked out as he very hard to buy presents for. He doesn't care for the wine my daughter got him, as it's too sweet for his taste. I got Wind up Penguin Salt and Pepper shakers, that will walk across the table and something my daughter forgot to take to her sister's. It's also will most likely be some penguins. Jonwin hinted that I got something from him, but so far hasn't produce it for me. If it's just what he hinted at his morning then he is in the dog house.

We've been mostly sick with flu since last Friday. Not the most memorable holiday, but by some miracle we were successfully able to reschedule all the family stuff, we're seeing some people this weekend and what not, belated, but hopefully we'll make them less ill and such.

Wife got Sims 3, I got a new watch, kids got more stuff than they need but that's half the fun. Biggest things were Thomas wooden train pieces, they're starting to get quite the collection.
