This woman accidentally received a Christmas gift that was apparently sent from the Obamas.

Quote:
Alane Church tells NBC’s “Today” show she was surprised to find the “beautiful, personal” book shoved in the bottom of a damaged box of packages her family opened at their Wadsworth home on New Year’s Day.

WLS-TV reports the book included a hand-written gift tag from “Barack, Michelle + the girls.”

Church won’t show anyone what’s in the book. But she says the pictures of first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama offer a glimpse of “very special, private moments of their year of 2013 together.”

Would you be as respectful of the privacy of the first family?

Nope. Teach them to be more careful.

I'd probably make some scans/photos of the choice ones for my own personal keepsake of the event but not allow the media to look at it. The gratitude of the president would be worth more to be than the fleeting mention on the news as the the guy who gave the book to Time Magazine or Huffington Post.

Not to imply that the "gratitude" would be immense, mind you but I'd take a sincere "Attaboy" from the prez anyway.

Or post them on Buzzfeed. "31 Amazing Photos You Won't Believe Were Found In My Insane UPS Package!"

I'd scan it for bugs, they're probably on to her immigrant smuggling operation. Smiley: tinfoilhat

But really I'd probably try and figure out how to return it if it wasn't too much trouble. If not it'd get stuck in the attic somewhere while I made up some random story that went with it just to mess with the grandkids someday.

The mail apparently lost a card sent to us by my sis-in-law. She claims she sent one with a lottery ticket in it. Now she's sure that the lost ticket is a zillion dollar winner and is freaking out. She's been calling multiple times a day with more suggestions on places we should look for the missing mail. Yesterday she called and suggested we dig around in the snow beneath the mailbox.

You should torture the mailman, he probably stole it because he knew it was the prize winning ticket.

It's a mail lady, but yeah, she should be water-boarded at least.

Killed, then water boarded.

Otherwise it's cruel and unusual.

Wall Street Journal article today was discussing mail that was lost/late - and it unfortunately included things like drugs that had to remain chilled and live seafood.

One lady got her Christmas dinner lobsters on Dec 26th. They were dead.

I got my Christmas dinner pheasant and duck breasts the 27th. Then again, I ordered them for the 27th because that was our Christmas/new Year's dinner day.

I even got twice as much duck as I ordered, which was nice. So if anyone has any good recipes for duck breasts, let me know.

Not duck breast, but I got a pretty good one for legs.

Now she's sure that the lost ticket is a zillion dollar winner and is freaking out.

Tell her to calm the fuck down and join us in the shared context we refer to colloquially as "reality". Gus the mail sorter didn't identify the magic golden ticket through the envelope and snatch it hopping aboard a passing barge on the Penobscot until he made it to the bay and could stowaway on the next clipper ship to the Continent. Someone dropped it and it was thrown away. The most likely "someone" in this case given how amazingly reliable the USPS is happens to be your sister.

She can relax.
