I was somewhat surprised my car started that night.

About 5C, low clouds, fog, and a bit of misty rain. Good times, good weather for a run too. Smiley: nod
Everything is made of or covered in mud. Mud and wet leaves that are almost as bad.

And I don't have a car.

I'm really sick of this weather. I'd almost rather have the -37°C than this never ending grey and brown misery.

It never got to 0 at home today. Right now it's -20F (-30C). At least there's half a foot of snow on the ground though.

Apparently it's colder here than at the Brooks Range in Alaska. I may run out of firewood by next weekend.

Is it ever! I'm lovin' this. -34C with windchill right now on the north shore of Superior, and I'm thinkin' of walkin' to work. Little cold weather never hurt anyone who dressed properly for it. Best winter we've had since 08/09.

So many calls tonight at work asking if we are open. Around -5 F, but I'm not sure if that was including wind chill or not. Anyway, if you are calling several different theatres to find one that isn't closed due to the weather (lucky us) maybe you should just stay home instead.

Business as usual for us today.

Yesterday, my husband's school said they were closing until 1PM today, and then they changed their mind and said they were opening at 11AM as normal. Now he's panicking because he banked on those extra two hours to finish up his syllabus. (Professors really are overgrown students sometimes.)

It's raining like crazy here. My driveway is pure ice. I've attempted twice now to sand it down and get my car out, but my sand gets washed away before I get down to the bottom and back up again. I've burned up two of our 3.5 buckets of precious sand. My car is currently resting, sideways, against a snow bank.

I'm gonna get it safety down to the street and get myself in to work at some point today.

Stupid driveway!

It's raining here as well, except the rain is melting everything. It's wonderful.

It's rainy and windy but not really all that bad so the ranges are open and I get to watch people get soaked. If it ain't rainin', we ain't trainin' as they say.

Despite the -16°F temps and half foot of snow we got, this weekend is supposed to be in the high 40's.

I'm sure the conservatives will be all over the global warming implications of that Smiley: wink2

It hit 50 this morning and poured rain, now the temps are dropping through the floor.

Crazy weather. It's ~50f here now as well.

The snow and ice is melting like crazy. Every road is a little river. I imagine it will all freeze up again tonight and tomorrow well again be facing Ice-Covered Driveways.

The county schools will be closed tomorrow because they are concerned that single digit temps will cause various problems - buses not starting (no engine down here has a heater block), children with inadequate winter clothing (1 out of 3 kids in our city does not have a proper winter coat), and the friggin schools themselves being unable to keep the cold completely out due to the way insulation is manufactured around here (works great up to 110F.... not so great at 11F.)

My office is going to be open unless we get a surprise snow or ice storm.
#45 Jan 06 2014 at 2:56 PM Rating: Good
Huh. It's 58 degrees here, and we have a wind chill advisory. It's supposed to get down to 30 tonight, so we have a freeze warning in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow, and we have a "lake wind advisory" from noon until 6 p.m. today.

In my hometown in Tennessee, it's 14 degrees today and they have a wind chill advisory and nothing else.

I just put my new sticker on my rear license plate. The liquid from the Lysol wipe I used to clean the surface froze before I could get the kleanex from the front seat to dry it off. We have to shuffle to our cars because the ground looks like the ice planet from Chronicles of Riddick. Half the company didn't come in. School buses are closed just about everywhere in the area due to ice formed by the mild temperatures melting snow/slush yesterday and freezing overnight. Supposed to get very cold tonight, temps are plunging fast -2 to -20C through the day.

I was supposed to drive to Kentucky this morning (10 hour drive). That plan was ruined. All the highways along the Michigan border were closed. We are going to try tomorrow. A group of coworkers said ***** it and left anyway this morning. They got to Michigan City, Indiana and were stop and told they had to get off. Now they are held up in a Hotel there.

Can't go farther east cause it's just as bad, if not worse. Apparently South Bend and Elkhart area was closed down this morning too.

If we could just get south of Kankakee it'd be fine...
