Seriously how did that court find those 2 cops not guilty. Your justice system seems to be @#%^ed right up. The guy pleads with the cops like 50 times...on a 9 minute video...then dies resulting from injuries sustained over that 9 minute period.

That is @#%^ed.

"Just horrified," said his mom Cathy Thomas, with his father Ron adding: "It's carte blanche for police officers everywhere to beat us, kill us because the verdict proves they'll get away with it."

So, ok, I understand, your kid died, probably needlessly, yadda. I know nothing about these people, but let's all agree to judge them anyway. Don't you sort of lose the right to preen on the moral high-ground and complain about the outcome here given that you allowed your (adult, and I'm sure difficult to deal with) child to end up a homeless mentally ill person? Perhaps not directly their fault, perhaps not in any way. Regardless, the aggrieved victim thing is a little offensive when the complaint is about the death of your homeless son.

Strange that most people had never heard of this case before. I wonder why that is?

On a broader point though, if you refuse to comply with the police to the point where they have to use physical force on you, you will end out getting hurt. And a percentage of those people will end out with serious or life threatening injuries. There's no magic that allows a police officer to detain a violently thrashing person without causing them harm.

Liberal media conspiracy, no doubt.

I'm more curious about why I need to hear about a German girl getting raped in India. That's like a Mad Libs of things that in no way concern me.

No doubt. Or more likely Al Sharpton decided this guys rights aren't as important as someone with a darker skin tone.

That makes sense given that Al Sharpton is the only person in the country with a microphone and a camera.

He's not the only person who's silence or loudness on things like this is utterly dependent on the skin color of those involved. He's just one obvious example of a larger trend (dare I say "Liberal media conspiracy"?)

Man, if only there was some media sources WITHOUT Al Sharpton. I bet they'd pick this up and make sure everyone knew! Probably start running this story at the top of their shows and stuff...

You forget that we are the same country that found OJ not guilty and that it wasn't really R. Kelly peeing on an underage girl in a video.

The story was covered by many media outlets. But there's a difference between "story that is reported on page 8", and "story that appears on the front page for a week straight". And that difference usually has to do with whether or not certain social groups or individuals get involved. We can debate why it is that if Al Sharpton (or others like him) makes a big deal about something, it becomes national front page news, but that is the case.

It's not that this story didn't get sufficient media attention, but that other stories selectively get far far more media attention.

No one likes Al Sharpton as an ambassador... I'm not quite sure why you would want him to speak on this. Furthermore, Al Sharpton speaks on the behalf of ethnic minorities. I know you think that's racist, but you fail to understand how a "Al Sharpton" could exist in the first place.

Is that a colloquialism? I have heard how things will end up and how things will turn out, but this is new to me.

I have been West Coast or Pacific Northwest for most of my life though, maybe it is from East of me?

"end out" is something bad consultants sometimes say that's been picked up as a buzzword by ignorant clients. Could be worse, could be "solutioning"

Surely the lack of rhyming in The Nation and Mother Jones would have made it obvious this wasn't the case?

Ace.
