Better watch it, see how many GOP members in the audience take selfies instead of listening to the President.

I didn't watch it all. But heard most of it. Nothing surprising.

Everyone looked sharp. I still laugh watching Boehner try to appear supportive or at the least neutral. Biden as a sidekick doesn't help.

I was listening to a spokesperson of our local Heritage Policy Center this morning. As a good little conservative spokesperson he slammed everything Obama said.

When asked if there was anything that he agreed with, he only said something about what wasn't talked about - the ACA, and how clearly Obama was embarrassed to talk about it....Smiley: lol Kids these days.

HERE - transcript.

If they do, something went horribly wrong. Obama said some meaningless things about accomplishments that aren't really accomplishments and made a few empty threats about using executive orders to do almost nothing. People applauded. I think one of those duck fellows was there.

Today I learned that Wilson was the first president to turn the State of the Union into a speech (previous presidents just sent Congress a letter). Then, of course, with the emergence of television in the 50's we got the spectacle it is today. There's not really any reason to expect the president to say anything since it's basically just free air time to get your message before the people these days. I wonder what it'd be like if we returned to just shooting Congress a letter that remained low-key (rather than published in every paper and website).

Not saying it'd happen. Just musing.

You should take lessons from Belgium on that, they went with a multi party system and got their government locked down/barely existing for over a year while arguing over some mostly inconsequential thing.

Benelux governments exist solely for comedic effect. Everyone knows that.

Do people actually still use the term Benelux anymore? I mean, the "lux" part almost doesn't even exist anymore. Or is that part of the comedy?

I have no idea what any of this means. It's a pretty common term. Luxembourg is still a going concern as a nation state...

Mostly the Belgian government I think, Luxembourg it too small to get in the news much even here and the Netherlands has mostly the same misery as everywhere else, we've even stopped throwing out our government and voting for almost the same thing every other year.

Well, their Gov't falling apart due to false flag communist terrorists lasts year was somewhat amusing.

The new PM of their landlocked country has studied maritime and ecclesiastical law, and wants and religion out of schools.

Luxembourg also sells the most alcohol in Europe per capita.
