The first is only marginally GG related, but since we were talking about Anita going on Colbert, I figured it went here.
So now Suey Park is weighing in on Anita being on Colbert and the woman walking through NY.

Speaking of Colbert, someone else declared GG dead on Thursday. I know, I'm behind the time. I was doing some patrol work looking for harassment on Brianna Wu's twitter feed to report and ran across that. I'm not sure if manually scanning people's feeds and search for @whatevertheirhandleis is the most efficient way to find people attacking them to report, but I'm new to this twitter thing.

Edit: Forgot to archive before linking. Gimme a sec. Edit2: Fixed.

Suey Park exists to make Anita Sarkeesian look moderate.

I suppose a "Gamergate is Dead" article might actually be interesting if there was one not written by people who were always opposed to it.

I read that all as South Park and thought that South Park was going to do a GG parody next week...

I think their last one was spoofing app-based ride sharing systems "stealing" work from Taxis.

Edit:
Also, what the hell is "whorphobic"?

Ok, but I'm more interested in how the term is being used. Derogatory against feminists or derogatory against anti-feminists? I cannot follow the string of tweets back and forth to figure out who is on what side of the argument calling ten different hashtags whorephobic.

you fucking ******.

The person who is criticising her would probably identify as a sex-positive feminist, and is criticising the other person for not being what she would see as one of those. Critical of a certain school of feminism, from another, there's your answer.

You tree fucker.

The point of the video wasn't "some people say good morning to others and that's harassment."

The point of the video was to demonstrate how differently experience is as different genders. I was shocked the first time I walked through NY with a female friend at how much attention she attracted just by being there. She's attractive, but she's not a model. And her look generally wouldn't be called approachable. All she wanted to do was walk from point A to B, not having strange men constantly going out of their way to put themselves in her consideration.

It's called a microaggression.

Ah, but it's not an aggressive act, it's someone wanting to be part of that person's group. It can be aggressive of course if the originator is trying to be coercive.

But take the example of a man walking through NYC. People won't stop them, talk to them or really acknowledge them, unless they have previous business with them. If you say one is microaggression, then this would necessarily be microalienation? Or, are both these things just human nature?

In case anyone who supports GG needs a pick me up for any reason, or even a simple boost to your resolve: "Like everything in life, there's peaks and there's valleys. We've all hit the valleys. We've all seen the peaks. And there's more to come. There's a lot more on the horizon and I'm here to tell you: We're gonna win this thing. We're going to come out on top."

Edit: In case anyone's just interested in the song, it's apparently:

How do you know if the originator is trying to be aggressive?

If that women in the video were to acknowledge anyone of those cat-calls, the likely result would be an unpleasant one. Been there, done that. You give one of these skum-ball guys the time of day and you become 'theirs' - stalking, harassment and once they know enough about you and where to find you alone, physical control.

If you want to claim micro-alienation, go for it, maybe you can change the world and Angrymnk will get his freely offered Chipotle.

It is hard not love a country where fake issues manage to eclipse things that have an actual impact on the populace. No wonder everything looks the way it does. We are continuously distracted by raped ebola dogs and aborted transgender babies.

It appears you are assuming that all those people are scumbags. I'm sure plenty of them are; such is the plight of interacting with the general public. Roughly 70-90% of people absolutely hate street harassment. There are exceptions. The harassers are, in a way, screening out the better people from their dating pool, as they'd likely not last long anyway, nor likely be considered. But, sometimes it works out for them. Two mediocre people meet this way all the time. It can be aggravating, because they are doing their marketing in a public space; I think we can all relate to hating obtrusive advertising in wretched city-scapes. And no one should have the right to make you feel unsafe. But that's really a different problem.

Brianna Wu offering $11,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons sending her death threats.(It sounds like her family put in 1k initially and some others matched it.) Good on her. Let's see those bastards caught. If I can find a link to where matching funds can be contributed, I'll let you know.

Edit: Alright, I'm officially over the whole "Walking through NY" video thing.

Edit2: TYT network reporter being told that neutrality on GG is bad, mmkay? I'll give you two guesses as to which side feels strongly that he should be biased.

Edit3: Just for fun: Someone finally put together the song I thought would happen months ago(edit4: Apparently they did it in September and I missed it. Smiley: bah). The Hero of Gaming.

Edit5: A dev from Epic Games Poland weighs in on GG. An interesting read.

Edit6: I'm going to link it anyway, but there are reports that this is suspect, so take it with a grain of salt, a larger grain, maybe even kosher salt. Sorry, that was a really bad joke.

Edit7: IGN responds to campaign to discuss ethics. Also, a week or so ago, they wrote an article related to GG. I haven't read all the way through it and don't have time to finish reading it right now, but I wanted to link it anyway. Thus far, it's been more or less fair. Not archiving due to content of last two links.

Yeah, you learn early on as to make that assumption.

I'm sure this girl walking video is overblown to make a point, but there is a point. The sexes are not equal. That's the point. Sexism exists surely as racism exist. It exists in games. It exists in the workplace, in the home and in our communities.

As for Gamersgate it is and still remains about sexism, and I offer Poldaran as proof. Post after post after post going on about 'women' in games while denying his crusade is about women and gaming. Give it up.

Btw, yesterday I played a game of Hearthstone against someone calling themselves Total Biscuit. I creamed him/her.

Yeah, and all the 'GG moderates' just happen to be staunch anti-feminists, e.g. that guy Poldaran linked to earlier. But I suppose they are moderate compared to the death threat guys.
