Completely off topic.. I finally passed my CISSP exam.

I have zero idea what this means or entails but, if it was meaningful enough for you to mention it, then congratulations.

My bad. I assumed the tech geek audience would be more familiar of IT/IA exams and certifications. Long story short, it's one of the top certs in the IT world and is usually considered one of the top paying certs.

Cool. My "tech geek" credentials entail being inordinately proud of myself when I switch out a case fan.

Yeah, the only certifications I've gotten were from Dell, though paid for by HP. Is the A+ still relevant?

Not really, which is sad because it is a more technical degree than the more desired ones. If you're going for a help desk job, it should look good, but most people look for Security+

A+ tells you how many CPUs to the motherboard upgrade, right?

As I mentioned in some other thread, I needed to cut down on my case fans or risk going deaf so I invested in a Corsair H75 closed loop water cooler. Works nicely except the stock fans were still stupid loud so I replaced them with a couple Vortex fans. Pretty much silent now. I also realized that my overclock had way too much voltage which wasn't helping my heat issues. All better now; where's my certificate?

A+ is a two part cert that focuses on the technical make up, repair and troubleshooting for a PC along with customer service. The biggest problem with the exam (at least when I took it) was that it was outdated with questions on floppy disks. I'm sure it has been updated since then.

I guess I'd have to go in on some kind of certifications if I want to get into the next tax bracket.

You have a link to the Vortex fans you bought?

These be them
70.5 CFM @ 17.3 dB (A) versus the stock Corsair fans which are 54 CFM @ 31.4 dB(A)

For the cost, I actually like them more than the Noctuas everyone always raves about. Plus, they're not half as ugly Smiley: grin
