"women opens"

I'm sure it's very well made.

If I won any lottery I'd at least work through a two week notice, while keeping quiet setting up all the legal and financial issues regarding such a windfall. There's a bit of wisdom that says "Don't tell *ANYBODY* that you won". Turning in your resignation might be a sign, but not too overt.

Varies from state to state but, in Illinois, buying a ticket is granting permission to use your name/image in promotional materials should you win.

In Michigan, I think you can stay anonymous if you chose for the State Lotteries. But the interstate Lotteries like Powerball and Megamillions you cannot stay anonymous if you want your money.

While it'd be nice to stay private, there is that concern since it's public funds being used to pay the winner, that the winner be confirmed as a real person. FOIA and all that.

I think a large majority of States require winners be announced for the big interstate lotteries.

Well it's a good thing I personally have no expectations of winning at all coz I didn't know about that. As it is I'd be much more comfortable winning a much smaller jackpot, like $5M in Lotto. That would be easier to manage, I'd think.

But hey, I'm still in the Publisher's Clearing House $5k/week drawing! Smiley: waycool

All military contracts have a "convenience of the government" clause that states that if it's more beneficial for the government they can let you out of your contract. Essentially what that translates to is that if you win a large chunk of money, the government could see it as inconvenient to morale of the rest of the troops for a Specialist to show up to drills in a private helicopter, and frankly one of the main punishments of withholding money for misbehavior doesn't hold that much sway to someone that doesn't particularly need it. In other words it's just more convenient to get rid of you, but there is no real contractual reason to do so. Generally you'd just go to your chain of command and tell 'em you want out, and after like two weeks of paperwork you're basically out.

In short, I'd be out faster than a Family Value's conservative in a public restroom.

In Maryland you can stay anonymous when you win. They actually had a ad campaign to get our of state people to buy their Powerball tickets in Maryland.

I hit a couple of numbers and the powerball, so came out a winner of $7, which I then used $6 to pay for my prescriptions.

It's not race, not directly anyway, it's financial status.

Black families tend to have less money than white families because when we started letting them have stuff like the rest of humanity the white folks already had a monopoly on printing money. This means that even if you are a poor white person you probably have family somewhere that is doing ok but if you are a black person who is poor your whole damn family is probably just as poor.

If you are poor but you hear statements like "That truck is a piece of crap but it only cost me 5K" because uncle John makes a decent amount of money and 5K is a manageable amount of money to him you get the impression that 5k isn't a life changing amount of money so when you look at buying a lottery ticket the one with a 5k jackpot just feels like a waste of money so you buy the "powerball".

If you've been dirt poor all your life like everyone else in your family $5k feeds your family for a year and you actually have a decent chance of winning "something" useful. $200 to a dirt poor family is Christmas. New shoes so your feet don't get wet on the way to work. Name brand ketchup. Brake pads for the car that you've been worrying about for a month. The mindset is "$5 isn't useful to me but $500 would be sooooo useful right now. 5K could turn my life around."
