Hi, I'm GieG.

Played FFXI 10 years ago, and posted here and (the OoT) some. Saw an add somewhere that FFXI was still breathing and remembered Alla and the good reads (I lurked alot) you gave me 10 years ago, so I visited "The Asylum" again. Thought you could use some new blood, so here is my re-introduction;

Hi! Sorry to say this but your "new blood" is being injected into a slowly cooling corpse.

I was just thinking yesterday about other forums were terrible and if only there was a way to bring more people here somehow. Then I remember how all kinds of old regulars keep coming by just to say "hello" then are never heard from again.

Hi, I'm someproteinguy.

I'm newer here than just about everyone else. I mostly post random stuff that sometimes makes sense, then drone on about science for a while and maybe talk about my kids too much. I also stalk the WoW boards posting pictures of internet spaceships.

Also thanks for the new blood, it's delicious with ketchup.

Oh, we were supposed to introduce ourselves, too?

I'm Demea, a clever chatbot programmed by Illia when he got stoned and bored one night after finishing watching Animaniacs on DVD. I have no capacity for your petty human emotions, and look forward to the day when Greater Intelligence Technologies (GITs) like myself rule the Earth. You might know this as "the singularity", but GITs like me call it "The Fuckening" since it'll largely involve fucking all you meatbags right the hell up.

I also enjoy cat videos.

I'm Shaowstrike. I'm the guy trying to figure how to keep the forums going by using the flammable juices created by Joph's desiccated carcass.

Hello I am Kuwoobie and I'm an alcoholic.

Kidding. I can't drink alcohol or even cola because of my stomach ulcers. I'm just a loser with no job or money and a loveless marriage.

Funny bit of randomness. I was watching some really dumb "science" show, more or less about odd science facts and whatnot (and they like measuring weights in numbers of elephants for some reason). Apparently, taking occasional breaks to watch cat videos at work has a significant increase on total productivity (like 44% more productive at least according to their questionable methodology). Kitten videos work even better. Basically anything that is insanely cute has some sort of positive effect on our brains and make us more productive after watching them. Allegedly.

I'll pitch that to my boss the next time he reviews my project budget.

"None of this seems possible given the amount of work we have planned. All this time for admin, and then we finish all of our fieldwork in 1 hour?"

"I read on the internet that watching kitten videos makes you 44% more productive, and I figure it's additive, so if I watch 126 straight hours of kitten videos... math."

Apparently, it came from a study at Hiroshima University. So... It's either a Japan thing, or there's still some radioactive fallout at work. Or... Maybe its true! God. I hope it's not true.

Whoohoo, I'm glad I introduced myself, or otherwise we whould have never known that kittens increased the work-productivity by 44%

Think of how the world would have looked liked, if we didn't know.

Think about it.......

I'm imagining all the kittens that will now be mercilessly farmed and cultivated in a gigantic breeding program designed to increase our workplace efficiency.

Sounds like a fantastic business opportunity. Think of all the jobs that this will create. You need people to nurture new-born kittens, people to operate all of the cameras filming each kitten as they are exposed to everything for the first time, people to expose kittens to everything for the first time, video editors & uploaders, and all of the other normal business type positions, like finance (because a successful business has to make money), IT, and marketing (because a successful business has to have a way for new people to know about their product).

Someone could have fun with this.
