Kastigir was found dead in his home yesterday. We do not have any details, but I know you guys would want to know.

My heart is doubly shattered today...

I just added him on Battle.net like a week ago. We never had a chance to play Hearthstone.

Damn shame.

Generous guy. Back at Allanois, he picked up the check for our dinner. Which was, uh, no small dinner. No fuss or anything, just took it from the waitress and covered it.

Seems like I saw Kastigir on very recently (last month?) but the broken forum search is making the posts impossible to find.

Peace, forum friend. Smiley: frown

I've known Kastgir since back in 1996 when we both joined The Protectorate guild, in Neverwinter Nights on AOL. We role played a courting couple online and hhad a lot of fun, while never letting the role play affect our personal lives. Later we found ourselves both hurt by a couple who lied to us both. it was I, who pointed him to Alla's for information on EQ.

I'm at great lost, in losing a good friend who I never met in real life. We did talk once over the phone, and spent many hours IMing each other back on AOL.

May he rest in peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss Elne. That you never met in person is irrelevant - one can have a deep and lasting friendship through other forms of communication and please don't feel any need to mourn any differently for him than you would for any other friend. Thank you for introducing him to the forums - I was one of the few here who had the privilege to meet him in person several years ago and he was nothing but kindness, generosity and a clearly earnest joy to be with a group of people who he had felt connected to for so long. I was blessed to go on and argue with him on opposing political views for years afterward. I am grateful that it appears that his passing was peaceful and pain free and there isn't much more we can hope for someone making their grand exit.

Would people be interested in another get-together at some point?

There are some of you I'd like to put a name with a face before you become digital ghosts.

RIP Kastigir. If you get an update on cause of death I'd be interested to hear - assuming there's no family privacy concerns or anything obviously.

If anyone wants to meet up with me in Changzhou, just say the word. I am very flexible about when we meet in the exact city of my choosing.

Someone on his Facebook says they think it was complications with diabetes. I think someone with access to account should probably change his profile picture?

I just recently found out that Steve Dillon died. I hadn't been caught up on my comics reading, and now I am seeing all of these memorial ads, and they are making me very nostalgic and sad! Going to reread Preacher over the weekend. And maybe "Welcome Home, Frank", my favorite Punisher story.
