I guess you and I have different definitions of "easily".

"Easily" as in simple or non-complicated. The mechanics of how to test it are simple. Getting people to agree to the mechanics, maybe not so much.

Banning people from serving would be a step in the opposite direction, though.

This Anthony Scaramucci guys seems nice.

“Reince is a ******* paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He channelled Priebus as he spoke: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the ******* thing and see if I can ****-block these people the way I ****-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ” (Priebus did not respond to a request for comment.)

Quote:
Scaramucci also told me that, unlike other senior officials, he had no interest in media attention. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own ****,” he said, speaking of Trump’s chief strategist. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the ******* strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.” (Bannon declined to comment.)

My favorite parts are the notes indicating that Priebus and Bannon declined to comment. Smiley: lol

Someone on Twitter summed it up: "It's like Team of Rivals, but for morons."

Of course, the suicide rate would probably be a lot lower if you didn't have to live your life worrying about being attacked for using the "wrong" bathroom or getting kicked out of your job on a whim.
IIRC the rate is higher among transgender individuals than other members of the LGBTQ family, for several reasons (a quick wikipedia search found a rate around 20% for gay, and around 40% for transgender, but that's obviously not a perfect source so feel free to point me other places if you'd like). There's obviously some of the same stigma that afflicts others, but transgender often have additional difficulties.

There's a different amount of isolation that's unique to being transgender. For example often times people identified as transgender do not seek other members of the community for support to the same degree. A gay individual, for example, is more likely to attempt find other people that are like them. Whereas a more common transgender goal is to just be one of the normal girls/guys, and disappear back into society and live a normal life, just as the opposite sex. Add in general body image problems, hormone therapy, and there's a lot of issues with transgenders that don't exist of many others under the LGBTQ banner. I mean there's a reason gender dysphoria is still seen as a mental illness, while there may not be anything "wrong" with who a person is, it's a still a very difficult condition to live with, and transition, if it happens, isn't an easy thing to do.

That said, I think an outright ban makes less sense than assessing people on a case by case basis, but having no horse in the race means this is more a philosophical debate for me than anything. One of those things that should be left to the stakeholders, and people who have to deal with the outcome of the decision, etc. Not that anyone ever does that kind of thing in our society when there's political points to be gained. Yeah, the "Twitter ban" (from what I understand, Trump can say whatever he wants on Twitter, that doesn't actually change the rules) was nothing but politics. You had officials afterward talking with glee about how they would try to use it to pin vulnerable Democrats in the midterms. This isn't about the military at all.

Don't tell twitter that, they like to self-important. Smiley: rolleyes

With Trump though, the "what is he trying to cover up" game is the best part. LGBTQ issues being a big trigger for news coverage and all. He must have been saving that one for a busy day. Makes me wonder what he'll say come September at the next big budget roadblock.

I suspect this time it was mainly about distracting the faithful from the sputtering health care bill and tossing them some red meat about transgenders.

Yeah it felt like injecting "win" right before a loss. They're certainly not distracting away from the loss though. A lot of anti-moderate Republican stuff flying around today. It seems like it's shaping up to be a pretty nasty little internal tussle.

Thought this one was funny.

AS someone who doesn't follow politics all that heavily, I'm having a lot of trouble keeping up with who is actually in the administration. Is Mike Flynn still there?

Trump is Tweeting and blaming the legislative filibuster for sinking health care reform. On a vote that only required a simple majority.

In 2012, Trump tweeted: "3 Chief of Staffs in less than 3 years of being President: Part of the reason why @BarackObama can't manage to pass his agenda"

Never mind that it's "Chiefs of Staff". Let's focus on the fact that he's passed Obama's record in six months. And boy, howdy, how's that agenda coming along for YOU, Donnie "Two Scoops"?

Am I forgetting a Chief of Staff prior to Priebus?

Anyway, Emanuel left to go run for mayor of Chicago (versus getting fired for being ineffectual) so it hardly seems apples & oranges anyway.

You have to admit that this presidency is a great learning experience. Imagine my shock at finding out that being in charge of a country's government is more complicated than selling your name to endorse any shoddy product that offers you a shiny nickle.

I've figured out how all of this will end. Once this administration has finished gathering the stones from around the world, Trump will become a malevolent god-like creature. An epic battle involving hundreds of thousands of the country's bravest warriors will ensue as he rains giant fireballs and lightning bolts down upon them. After several hours, lolgaxe leaps from the crowd and delivers the final mighty blow to the demon's head with his two-handed lolgaxe. Shrieking a horrible unearthly shriek, with brilliant beams of blue light bleeding out of his wounds, Trump grabs a hold of lolgaxe with his claws and pulls him into his gaping maw, devouring him in two colossal bites. The sky turns blood red as the monster keels over, forming a massive, throbbing and impenetrable chrysalis. The armies of the world continue the battle as creatures of unspeakable horror pour out of fiery fissures in the earth. Chief among them are Trump's forsaken allies, once thought to have been banished forever to an eternity of eternal torment. They are now hulking abominations of flesh and bone. The winds howl as a never ending stream of blood and embers rain from above. With a single swipe of his massive claw for an arm, Sean Spicer annihilates a group of ten-thousand. Just then, Samira, deep in mediation, is seen loudly chanting in a strange alien language as she stands upon a beautiful and elaborate glyph of pure light. Hearing her plea, an enormous portal tears the fabric of reality itself, and the God of All Clowns emerges. It is a massive glimmering winged creature. Each fiber of it's bright red hair is as thick as a man's arm, and its bulbous red nose the size of the moon. With a mighty wink of its eye, a spear of blinding light, Longinus, the Spear of Destiny itself, rips through the air with so much velocity that it doesn't even touch Spicer as his mountain of a body is obliterated. The rest of the forsaken monstrosities turn all of their focus towards the divine clown. They lung at it, piling their putrid bodies against it, sinking their fetid teeth into its abdomen as purple fumes burst from the wounds, melting the monster's heads. The Clown grasps the body of Betsy Devos and hurls her into outer space, and ultimately into the sun, and with its other hand, scoops up Rick Perry and Ben Carson and crushes them between its fingers, each as large as World Trade Center's towers. The armies of the world rejoice! Surely, victory is at hand. But no. The chrysalis, which is has expanded a thousand fold, appears to be made entirely out of human skin-- covered in boils and oozing pustules, violently splits open, revealing miles upon miles of coiled flesh and millions of armored legs. At the center is Trump's now enormous and grotesque head, which lunges forward at an impossible speed, impaling the Holy Clown, wrapping around and impaling it again and again, breaking holes with its teeth, unaffected by its acidic blood. With its life essence depleted, the Clown evaporates into ash. Trump unleashes a horrid shrieking roar as darkness blankets the Earth.

...to be continued. This post brought to you by the Bloodborn OST.
