ok so we all know WHM is one essential part of a party. but do you ever wonder if the WHM in that random pick up pt will do his/her job right right? lets meake a list of WHMs you have partied with that way others will know if they will die or not.
i am a WHM and would really like to know how others see us.

Bastila {not a female player)
58WHM/29BLM
linkshell: CapedCrusaders

Hey Bastila, it's me: Embur. Yes, I agree that some WHMs are "unskilled" but I'd rather not give names.

Hey, as you may see by my name, I am Jarf from Lakshmi.
Lvl 54 whm
Rank 5 >.< want 6
Same awesome LS as bastila: CapedCrusaders

From what i have heard, kronoz lets his tanks die a lot more than the average whm. That's about the only horrible whm i have heard about, i have seen some ghetto ones that use stuff like rings that add to dexterity, etc. Lol!

I played with Kronoz last night and there were no deaths that were her fault. She is, however, a bit of a tyrannical micro-manager. As far as play was concerned though, all the basics seemed to be there.

As for a good WHM, I've had a lot of fun with Trainwreck. Even if we weren't getting any XP, listening to him and his brother bicker is quite entertaining. Smiley: grin

Kysha is a bad WHM. Currently Lv38, but I heard she retired upon learning Teleport:Altep and Teleport:Yhoat. She's just not very in-tune with the idea of looking after everyone, I guess... doesn't have that good of an attention sp... hey waitaminute this muffin is bulletproof! o.O!!

>.>;

That aside, props to all the WHMs out there who do their job, and do it well. I don't know how you you guys do it, but thanks, for looking after the PTs you get in... and saving our butts when we need it.

Names aside, there are alot of unskilled WHM out there. They rely too heavily on the high MP cures, thus making more downtime than nessessary. And I always cringe when I see them use banish. Then there was the WHM in the 2nd jungle (I can never remeber wich is wich) that didnt have ProtectraII. These are also the ones that refuse to take 'advice' because how can I possibly know anything ><

The really sad thing is, that horrible WHM or not, you must keep them, because WHM have not exactly been numerous many times I have leveld.

Of course there are the once-in-a-blue moon great WHM that knock your socks off.

The problem with WHMs now adays is the "Teleportation Craze" that has swept our server. For the past month or so you can't enter a city without gettin teleport spam take up ur screen. This combined with the idea that teleportation will rake in the big bucks is driving new comers and folks in need of cash to go down the path of the WHM. Which honestly just kills the rep of WHMs who became WHMs because they like the job (yours truely). Now adays everyone is in such a rush to get the first set of teleportations that the result is, as mentioned before, WHMs with dex rings or WHMs with fishing equipment in quifim. I just hope when eventually it will die out or for all of u melee ppl ur gonna have to wait until ur lvl 42+ for the true glimpses at a serious WHM.

I've seen a 30/31 lvl whm in Yhoator Jng. with no Raise, who was in my friend's pt. My friend had died from aggro, and another kind whm from another pt had to go raise her. ; ;

Teleport: Yhoat might not be used often, but I just happen to be one of those people who are kinda particular about having up-to-date spells. One of the reasons I don't like playing my WHM is also because I have yet to get Erase. (( 300k though, that's daylight robbery >.>; ))

I don't mind WHMs with teleporting business, they need money for their spells after all. Personally I'm just too lazy to deal with people and trade boxes and the like to even bother. I do enjoy having teleports though, I can teleport myself at will, and help any LS members out. o.Ob Bokeli and Hisisy-type of teleport business is a whole other matter though. -.-a

And finally... Oy. WHM25 and above with no Raise is just... wrong.

No names come to mind, but this thread is as good as any for my minirant.

Far, far, far too many times, I get into a party that's just getting started and not 10 or 15 minutes later, a PT member says: "Sorry, I gotta go. Bye." *disbands* No notice. Nothing. And 99% of the time, it's the WHM. I've come to expect this in the Dunes, but by Kazham and Garliage this kind of thing is unacceptable. Given the time it takes to form a good party, find a decent camp and commence killin', it's just frustrating.

As a THF, I'd worry about my reputation and about not getting future invites doing things like that. I realize WHMs, being in such high demand, don't have to worry about reputation so much, but that doesn't excuse leaving five players high and dry.

End rant.

PS: I'm just griping about a select group of inconsiderate WHMs; most of you WHMs are awesome!

Whenever I party on my whm it is for at LEAST a good 3 hours, seeing as it takes 6 hours to level, you dont get much accomplished if you dont. As for Erase... well light staff and dark staff for 250k seemed worth it to me but Erase @300k for an unnecessary spell, im just not gonna waste my time yet. Anyway, I do have about 800k in equipment on my character so hopefully that is enough to make up for it.

Well, i remember pting in Quicksand caves and a whm didnt have Silena....omg...when we got hit with that AOE Silence, and we all called for Silena, the whm was like..."I dont have it" We went balistic. Me being a PLD, I expect the status alilment if it is a serious one. Specifically Silenced. And when the WHM said "I dont have it" I wa stuned. Its all good though. The WHM Warped back and got the scroll. End of story

hmm *think* bad whms...
Bokeli just pisses me off XD always makin my parties pay full-price for teles, sometimes tricks people into paying more >.>;
My whm is level 29 and as far back is I can remember (probably qufim on ;p) I've never let any party member in my reach die. Once we were in trouble when this other whm in the party went AFK during battle and I was low on mp, but I benedicted at just the right time for nobody to die XD

/wave Shakaku

I partied with Shakaku back in Qufim. She was a good WHM. We had some deaths, but none that I would blame on her.

I've met two bad WHMs in recent memory. Once was a newbie in the Dunes, so I won't use his name. Who knows, maybe he's developed into a good WHM (or some other job) by now. The other one turned out to be a BLM in disguise (just lvling his WHM sub job). He went afk without telling the pt. We barely survived the battle (all 4 melees were trading vokes and had reached red before the WHM started healing). After the battle, he joked that he did that to add excitement, and never once offered an apology ("Hey, no one died.")

This happened recently...

get a fly AoE, tanker is having a hard time with hate... Whm casts Curaga (maybe II) on the party... fly goes straight for her. She then gets nailed and starts casting Cure III's on herself.

Seriously the Curaga wasn't needed, but she always did this. And when ever the guy went to pull she'd scream when she was on low MP not realising that he wouldn't pull until she had enough MP, he was just going to scope the area.

Repeat this about 30 times and that's about an hour or two's worth of playing >_<

Not all WHM's are bad, and not all are Great... it's kinda average, but it also depends on the party you are in. When I was leveling WHM one time with a JP party, there was next to nothing I could do, because the 2x Blink Tanks were working perfectly and nobody needed excessive healing, so I was just sitting back debuffing and applying the occasional cure.

I've been with a lot of whm's that maybe aren't the worst but their style of play makes my job extremely difficult. Too many whm's let my HP drop into the orange or red and then hit a couple cure III's or cure IV's. I can understand if it was a sickle slash or other special attack but just fighting crabs or beetles etc just doesn't make sense. At my level I have 1136hp and with protect and fish mithkabobs I get hit for 50-80 on average. True I can cure myself and if I have a good rdm or brd I can save the whm a lot of mp, but I still need cures from a mage. Waiting to hit cure IV + red pld hp draws a lot more hate than a couple cure III's or several cure II's not to mention the spread of hate over time instead of major hate all at once. I don't have hate problems, but it slows down the party a lot cause i try to keep myself in the white or at least high yellow. Just my experience with a lot of whm's
