A note to returning playersFollow

#1 Jul 14 2012 at 9:46 PM Rating: Good
Hello All and Welcome Back to the game,
Rather than comment on the 1-2 new threads made ere a day, I thought Id rather just make a thread myself. If you are a returning or new player, you can hit me up for a pearl to a social shell (can also contact Turkish or Chihealer)

Also, as a side note, PLEASE begin the Abyssea expansion missions (Port Jeuno > NPC Joachim > Enter a maw (Konchstat is a good one) > Turn in Traverser Stone to Conflux Surveyor > Warp and return to Joachim) as the very first thing you do upon returning.
Doing this as soon as possible will make your lives 1000x easier.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you also have to have a traverser stone in your inventory to flag the quests at each maw? I believe you can only teleport to the maws you got the cutscenes for.

Being able to teleport to the Abyssea maws can also make a handy substitute for outpost teleports, depending on where you need to go.

Correct, I was trying to keep the summary of the mission as concise as possible for less confusion lol, but yes. You may utilize your first Traverser Stone to run around activating maws as well

Completely understandable. I just didn't want people to make the same mistake I did when I came back last summer. I thought actually going into the maws allowed you to teleport to them. This is not so; you have to get the CS where the NPC asks you to defeat what ends up being the boss for that zone. You won't get that CS without a Traverser Stone in your inventory.

I tried out FFXIV at launch/original beta, hated it.
Tried out WoW, hated it.
Ran a small private Ragnarok Online server, got boring.
Played Eve Online (again), got really boring.

Kept thinking of returning to FFXI, never wanted to, still really don't. Right now it still seems like the best game on the MMO market. SWTOR was a huge disappointment, Guild Wars 2 is looking pretty good, but at the same time it appears that it might not be as great as I thought it would be (waiting for it to launch so I can see what my friends say about it)

Bought Diablo 3, played it for about 3-4 weeks and then it just became a really bad grind fest in inferno levels.

Currently playing Dungeons and Dragons online, haha.

I just keep thinking about Tarutaru Dragoons and how great the job system was in this game. Should another major MMO flop/fail I am greatly considering coming back to playing this game. My only problem is this full time working thing sucks!

I am coming back (downloading the patches now).. and will certainly be hitting up anyone that wants to help me get myself acclimated to the new FFXI.

I was like a few others.. I stopped 2/29/2010 (started playing 1/29/2004). I have tried a ton of other games to replace what I had with FFXI. It couldnt be done..

Even though I am not looking forward to grinding out 7 lvl 75 jobs to max level..i am gonna do it cause I miss my char!!

Now I have to remember how to get my damn macros!

Necro Warning: This post occurred more than thirty days after the prior, and may be a necropost.

7 jobs from 75-99 ....shouldn't take very long. Abyssea worm party or, if you don't have aby, Grounds of Valor in Zehrun Mines.

It's possible to make your Mog Locker accessible from your Mog House or Rent-a-Room. I think you just talk to the guy in Whitegate that you trade the coins to. You only get 5 days instead of 7 per coin, but that's not a big deal.

I have my Mog Locker paid for through about half of 2014, and I know people who have theirs paid off for longer.
