Just bought it today, should have it finished in a couple. I'm a little bummed that he hasn't finished the story first, before going and doing the prequal, but maybe he was stuck.

I picked it up yesterday and couldn't really put it down. I was a little skeptical after the 10th (I'm just about the biggest fan you can be of the Wheel of Time, but even I can see the problems with the 10th...), but this prequel really impressed me. Bringing two of the greatest characters to the forefront again, perhaps setting up the next few books in the series (praying for that...) with some needed knowledge of the past. It really set me up to want to read them all again, again...

This book was honestly as great as the first, and really brought the WoT world back to life after the grueling pace of the last novel. I definetly recommend it, for veteran WoT fans and for the new.

I just picked it up yesterday, and will start it after I finish Taggerung by Brian Jacques. If it as good as you say it is, I'm thinking I'll finally be able to overlook the last 3 books...Here's to hoping Jordan pulls it together for the finale!!

I must say, I've grown quite tired of RJ. Haven't read him in over a year; never even bothered with 10. The problem is that I usually need to re-read the whole series every time a new book comes out, to get myself into the necessary frame of mind.

10 was crap. I'm sorry, but it was. 9 was good. 11 should be set up to be good unless he completely botches it, but 10 should be expunged.

New Springs was actually fairly well written and a good change of pace. It's nice to see some more personal background on Moiraine and Lan. Here's to hoping that book 11 will be awesome, and that Moiraine will make a comeback!

This series has gone in the toilet since book, oh, six or so. It really moved along then was put on hold the last couple books. Also his writing has become VERY self-indulgent; "trademark" aphorisms way overused. The best fantasy series out there is, IMHO, is George R.R.Martin's A Song of Fire and Ice series. The first book, A Game of Thrones, is sorta hard to start, but absolutely awesome. And no I'm not affiliated witht the publisher or author :).

Whew i i love WoT one of those goons that has read through the series like 6-7 times. But i really havent liked the last 3 books, 9 wasnt bad, 10 was a steaming pile of crap. If he does book 11 as bad as book 10 imma just quit reading, rather remember series with good memories.

Im not going to pick up new spring until its paper back, and i would rather have had 11 then a prequel. I think any nerd worth his weight in silicon should know by now that prequel=bad and a quick way for people to make money off a franchise. Ahem Star Wars, Enterprise im looking at you.

I actually like New Spring.. It was nice to see Moraine as an Accepted and the story moved on nicely.

Maybe I am a geek but I liked looking back and seein how everything started and how the ppl develop into the persons they are in the end...

Sadly, I refuse to read Robert Jordan until he finishes the Wheel of Time series. I'm paranoid that I'll read the books and then he'll die and leave them unfinished.

That happened to me with Frank Herbert's Dune series and I'm still severely frustrated.

Anyone who keeps reading WoT after the third book should just smash all their windws, lay the glass out on their living room floor and roll around in it naked to save time.

Yea, i know, but I like to finish what I start. Even though it takes me an average of 4 months to read one of the WoT books.

well i read his books too. the first couple were very awesome. i read the first one for like 12 hours straight. but the last few have been difficult reads for even me. i can and do read them in about 3-4 days, but the story just isn't progressing fast enuf imho. plus rehashing some of the same old stuff is boring. i'm optimistic though. i hope he can pull the proverbial rabbit out of his hat and do a good one. he has the talent.
