Anyone ever read any books by this author? I've mentioned the Coldfire Trilogy in several posts but no one has ever responded, so anyone ever read this amazing series or anything else by Friedman?

I have really liked most of the things I have read by Friedman. My favorite I think was his "in conquest born" trilogy, though it did get kind of wierd at times.

I have copies of the Coldfire trilogy. Amazing work, very well written. I also have This Alien Shore, a stand-alone that was written after the Coldfire trilogy. Also a great read. Haven't read In Conquest Born. Did an Amazon search, and it looks like she's got a new book coming out in July. Looks like I have some reading to look forward to, her first book in almost 6 years (and I thought Robert Jordan was slow).

Oh, and Kaolian, C. S. Friedman is a she. =P

I lost them sometime while moving around with the Army.../cry

Great books, but I've yet to read anything else by that author.

I read her new book The Wilding. I guess it's a late sequel to In Conquest Born, which I haven't read yet. It was okay, but not near worth the six year wait. It seems to set up for a series, but then it could just be a bad ending. The story jumps around a lot, rather flat characters, and she tends to describe every female characters reactions to the male characters as if she (the author) hasn't been laid since her last book was printed. It was just too much like a cheesy romance novel at times. But aside from the downs, there were still some sparks of her former writing ability and she must just need to dust off and get used to writing again.
