I'd actually prefer Blunt. Wilde is more gorgeous but she also looks a bit fragile and less badass.

Olivia Wilde has the chops, but I really want Carol to be a blonde. Emily Blunt would be my choice, after she kicked all of the asses in Edge of Tomorrow.

Oooh. Good choice. And a surprisingly good film.

Emily Blunt would be great, too. Probably better. I don't really have a rational reason for wanting Wilde over other quality actresses beyond just wanting it.

Agent Carter - Add some pudge and an epic beard and Ivchenko could pass for Dr Faustus, kind of sort of. I want to pretend the fat kid was a reference to Wilson Fisk, even if it makes zero sense whatsoever.

So I finally got around to watching Edge of Tomorrow. It was an alright movie. The happily ever after ending kind of ruined the whole experience though. Should have just faded to black after the Omega exploded, or at the very least while the whole alien transfusion underwater. Have Cruise's eyes open and then fade to black. Let the audience's imagination fill in the hole. Segue into mentioning that Blunt will need to up her Hugh Laurie game and work on her accent if she's to be Danvers.

Suicide Squad, for anyone interested (admittedly, I kind of am) will star Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker, though why I don't know because as far as I can tell he's not generally been a part of the Suicide Squad. Certainly not the Nu52 version of SS.), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). Will Smith is Will Smith, so the only thing I can really say about that is I'll probably be disappointed that they won't have him in the Deadshot mask for much of the movie. You sign a big name, you're gonna want to show his face for sales and such. That's what happened with the first Judge Dredd movie with Sylvester Stallone. I'm not really familiar with Margot Robbie. I hope she realizes just how heavy her accent needs to be by the time the film is released. Viola is pretty good in the two episode of How to Get Away With Murder I watched, though the show itself wasn't all that interesting. I guess with Leto they're going for the Ledger Joker? I prefer the Cesar Romero / Jack Nicholson / Mark Hamil kooky Jokers over the sociopath version Ledger did. Then again, it'll probably be the current Waypool version of Harley Quinn and not the original Sorkin voiced Animated Series version, so eh. The other two I have no real clue.

DC is really putting some muscle behind this one.

Oh, and in MCU levels of awesome casting, Dwayne Johnson is going to be Black Adam in the Shazam movie. Figured I'd toss that olde news in as well.

Edit: Dear Sony, I was kidding about the whole Jaden Smith thing, damnit.

Caught up with Carter and at this point I don't see them connecting the series with the One Shot. I guess they're just gonna retcon it out of existence.

It's a good thing the SSR guys deduced something is wrong with Peggy, even if it was only by chance. But having her dance on their collective nose like Clark Kent does with his coworkers at the Daily Planet would be too contrived after a certain amount of time.

Well there's still one episode left, so it'll either be a big finish or a big disappointment. I'm still holding out hope for Pym, or at least some mention of him.

In other news, have some Deadpool casting notes. Looks like they're drawing from the Joe Kelly era, which to me makes it a must see right out of the box.

I'd have to go back and watch it again, but I thought the one shot occurred prior to the events in this mini series. IIRC, no one at SSR realized that she handled the situation herself in the one shot, so it's not inconsistent at all. Kinda just builds up the background of her character and explains why she's so willing to go behind her co-worker's backs to help Stark. Of course, I could be totally wrong about the timeline.

At the end of the One Shot Howard Stark calls SSR headquarters (where a complete different set of people is working compared to the series) and tells the guy in charge how he (Howard) and Peggy are going to found SHIELD.
My guess would be that Howard will only be in a position to build up SHIELD after Peggy has cleared his name. And it would have been mentioned if SHIELD already existed.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I would not like it if this particular One Shot will somehow be kicked out of canon and the other 4 remain. Would be weird.

I got thrown for a loop, cause I saw these two just recently in trailer, and thought "Wait, does that mean it is Suicide Squad that is coming out right now then?". Turns out they are staring side by side in this movie Focus.

Was that her? She's kind of cute and small, which works out. Still needs the heavy accent though. That's kind of a deal breaker for me.

Pointless Edit, Not Worth It's Own Post Edit-ion: Terry Crews should have been Luke Cage, damnit.

Actual News-ish Edit Edit-ion: Following in the noble footsteps of Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel's Avengers Assemble, and Hulk - Agents of SMASH, DisneyDX is proud to present you with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Blargh.

She had a pretty heavy accent in Wolf of Wall Street. Not Harley strong but similar accent. I figure the directors will make her do that, but stronger. Can't imagine them not doing the accent.

I find this disagreeable. Not a deal breaker, but still a disappointment. Not too different from the first Avengers movie. As an aside, at the rate this is going it's going to be Tony who smacks Jan.

A little more detail. Very little more.

While I do have a good chunk of Avengers comics in my shelf, many of them with Hank Pym in them, I don't care that much about this. Might be because I never was a huge Ant-Man/Yellowjacket/Giant-Man fan.
#218 Feb 23 2015 at 11:14 PM Rating: Good
Pym's been a douchenozzle so many times in the comics I'm more than ok with leaving him out of Ultron's origin. Jan will be Pym's daughter in the MCU, so I'm guessing there will be no smacking unless that's what causes them to become estranged. Obviously Lang & Jan are gonna hook up & I just can't imagine Paul Rudd's Lang has it in him to smack a woman.

Pym is a mad scientist trying to be a good guy, and kind of a central character in these storylines. Might as well remake Harry Potter without Snape.

Agent Carter - Out with a kind of whimper, really. I probably built it up more in my mind. A couple of purposely open threads that will, no doubt, be followed up in either Agents of SHIELD or the upcoming movies. Kind of looking forward to some Blonde not-Black Widow follow up. After eight episodes, it finally dawned on me that the crutch guy was also the guy Peggy was talking about in the Winter Soldier movie. Not a bad mini-series per se, but nothing ground breaking either. Really just brought up more questions to explore later than add anything conclusive itself.

Sounds like he'll be an addition to Amy Pascal, which was already a crapshot.

You know you've done bad when even Rob Liefeld dislikes your designs.

Smiley: lol

Just finished Agent Carter as well.

What I liked:

- The show as a period piece. I don't know how accurate it was but I really enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere.
- The ending with Arnim Zola. That was awesome.
- They explain why there never was a Supersoldier based on Steve Rogers DNA.
- Peggy and Jarvis individually and their chemistry.
- Setting up the programm which trained the Black Widow.
- The Captain America broadcast.

What I did not like:

- Fight scenes were cut in a manner that can make every clash between two 5 year olds seem impressive. You rarely, if ever, see any move from its start to its finish. Lame.
- The Carter Oneshot no longer fits in the MCU continuity. Since this puts the other Oneshots in a weird position (especially The Consultant and All Hail the King, the other two aren't that important) I strongly dislike it.
- The bad guy... Everytime he used his catchphrase (Focus) I wanted to punch my screen. Badly.
- I would have liked at least some hint as to how much of Leviathan we've seen so far. As in, will it be a potential major threat in the future or not.

Have some Age of Ultron sneak peak from Entertainment Tonight. Full trailer expected Thursday during the premiere of "American Crime" on ABC ... whatever that is.

Still hyped for the Hulkbuster fight.

Edit: Robert Downey Jr on twitter with trailer 3

Neat.

Beat me to it. I like it. Many new scenes and finally a glimpse of Vision.

Quicksilver punching Cap was cool, too.

Anyone got 27 hours to kill?

I sure as hell don't.

In Other News Edit-ion: They say that Wolverine 3 will start filming early 2016, but aren't we technically at Wolverine 7?
