So I had an opportunity to see an advanced screening of this movie last night (releases on Friday I think). I went in expecting a fun campy action spy-type flick with some good humor mixed in. Instead, what I got was a film that rotated freely from awesome slow-mo action to hilarious to somber to cliche to downright ridiculous... and I enjoyed almost all of it. It certainly was different from my expectations, but it was so over the top that that was a foregone conclusion. Anyway, I thought it was a very fun ride (particularly the second half of the movie) and would recommend it. I'm assuming no one else has had an opportunity to see it yet so I'll just throw this up here and wait for others' opinions later.

This looks like one of those movies that's totally stupid but highly entertaining and worth watching anyway.

Colin Firth was on the Daily Show last night talking about it. Looks interesting.

I watched his interview after work today (fell asleep early last night, so I missed the shows). I particularly enjoy his "I found a tear in my eye."

I'm going to try and see the movie this weekend. I usually try to go to the first showing of the morning at my local theater. Some time between 12:30 and 1:30. Last weekend I would have seen Jupiter Ascending but it didn't have it's first showing til 4:30 and I don't like going to the theaters that later in the afternoon. Too crowded usually.

Got back from seeing it. The last half definitely changes it up. I didn't really expect that much over the top.

All the world leaders, rich folk, and President Obama's heads exploding in an orgy of fireworks and brain matter. And the princess of Sweden offering **** sex (and delivering) to the main character if he saves the world.

I think they could have done a better job with Obama's voice, even if they didn't want to show the face... hair, skin color, and ears. But the voice was just nothing. Smiley: frown

I just realized that the bad guy's name is Valentine and the show was released on Valentine's Day weekend.

Of course the weather here is terrible right now. Almost zero visibility. I ended up going to the theater and it wasn't too bad when I left to go there, but on my way back I could barely see anything. 20-25 mph the whole way. And of course since it was still daytime, a bunch of idiots driving around without their lights on.

Just saw it today, and I'm in the "definitely a must see" group.
