I got one off of a feecan last night. I was lvl 3 at the time. Haven't seen another one since though.

I have a lvl 10 nightshade and I had killed these things at lower lvl but never got anything like this to drop. I was wondering if this game has a trivial loot code. In otherwords, if the mob is grey to you will it still drop the rare loot or not?
Trivial loot code is indeed implemented in DAOC. And it's not just rare loot, to my knowledge it's all loot. Never seen a grey drop a thing.

I got one of these off of a skeleton pawn, and another off a wild crouch. I guess its just part of a random loot table for many low mobs
Got mine off a sandman. Killed quite a few of the little buggers thinking it was part of a quest. They dropped a total of 3 magical items for me, which I thought was quite good considering the supposed rarity of magical items in this game.
