DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

*Your steps and tasks may vary. Please note this is only one version.

The merchant Siom Felanis in Humberton sent me to retrieve a sack of red dust from a "Kedalinde Teanidd" and told me she was "somewhere in Salisbury Plain."

Kedalinde Teanidd turned out the be the leader of the group of filidhs that spawn just behind West Downs.

Once I returned the dust to Siom Felanis in Humberton, I was sent to retrieve the backbone of "Mystic Ulfwag." Mystic Ulfwag is the leader of the goblin fort northwest of Snowdonia Station in Black Mountains North.

Upon returning the backbone to Siom Felanis, she made a staff for me and gave me 4 silver and some copper.

Reward:
  Charred Bone Staff

I think that while it is a good quest, the need to kill a Grumoz deamon is very common. I have done this quest at least 10 times with verious chars, and only once was i told to kill somthing other than a grumoz deamon. Unfortinatly, I think that the deamons have an satronomically low spawn rate.

To Szunn in regard to the quest Dwarf being grey. If you have the quest in your log you may still kill grey mobs and get the drop you need.

14th Sorceror Quest
# May 08 2002 at 12:41 AM Rating: Default
I got this quest as a 14th Level Sorceror. Sion told me to kill Aithine Con (named Filidth) in Camelot Hills to get the Vial of Liquid Fire. She is the same one to kill for the Staff of Life. She was Green to me. I sent in my pet and had no troubles.

I took the Vial back to Sion and gave it to her and she gave me 20K EXP. And told me to get the backbone of Mystic Ulfwag as above. Once I had the backbone and gave it to Sion. She gave me the staff and 4 silver and 40K exp.

I just did this quest last night as a 14th lvl Theurgist. The tasks were easy, especially after reading the tips on this board before doing them. The problem is that I'm not seeing much benefit with this staff over the Staff of life, even though the DPS is a full point higher. One problem I'm comming to realize with my staff strategy, is that as a Theurgist, I need to get a staff with focus, and this staff has none. The 40K exp was a nice bonus, but if you go find the Forest Scouts and Forest Bandits (they con Orange and Red to me at 14) they're nuetral, don't BAF and they give about 29-35K exp each, easy prey for a Theurgist. Don't target the Forest Chief by mistake though, this guy is about lvl 40, and seven Earth elementals barely scratched him (was just an experiment, I'm not really that stupid), good thing I know when to run :)
Hill Warrior Tip
# Mar 17 2002 at 3:48 PM Rating: Default
For those of you who get the version to kill a hill warrior in N. Black Mountains - just a little tip. Do not go all the way down to the tents where the hill chief and many others are. Just before that, there is a spot up the hill where only warriors and one guard spawn. It is MUCH easier to kill a warrior here without pulling many others. The other area is almost impossible to grab a warrior w/o all the others. I found this out a little too late, so I thought this may help someone else from making the same mistake!
Quite hard, but can also be easy!

Tried this yesterday but got killed 3 times at level 14 friar.

You do indeed need to kill Aithne Con, very easy for level 14+.

The hard part is Mystic Ulfwag, who is located NW from Snowdonia Station in a ruined fort on a hillside. Ulfwag is located at the rear of the fort and is grouped with a Gray Warg so can be tricky if you have low hp. DO NOT enter the fort as the King is tough for level 14 and usualy pulls other goblins. Instead go up hill behind the fort and look down, you should see Ulfwag at the rear, and can be pulled by running up to the fort wall or better yet by a ranged attack, he'll poison you and run after you. The poison is nasty and does around 10 dmg per tick (like i said tricky if you have low hp).

I'm going to try it now im level 15, hopefully my Evade 3 will help me against his pet Gray Warg. I'll keep you updated.

Just to let people know, the first part of the quest varies from player to player. You are asked to kill and get different things. The mystic always stay the same though.
Moreover, I found the quest hard to do even at level 15 because the Ulfwag and his friends are hard to kill, so be careful or bring along a puller.

Just to let everyone know that you need to kill Aithne Con, not Kedalinde Teanidd for the first part of your quest to retrieve a vial. Not red dust. Not to hard pretty easy quest.
14 not 15

I did this at Lvl14 not 15

Hill warrior camp needs a group

I use the staff for melee does about 75% more damage than my Cabalist staff which gives me 19lvs of skil specialization. I find that by keeping my inv open I can switch between the two as I run forward to finish off Mobs in melee

The Charred Bone Staff is far superior to the Staff of Life . . if someone had trouble soloing blues, it was their own fault. I am a level 18 friar, and still solo yellows EASY with this staff as well as some oranges. The stats listed on the staff are not the actual damage done, so buying a similar one from merchant just doesn't hold a candle. For really, really good information on friar quests, specs, and items, go to www.themonestery.net

The hill warrior are just beyond the goblin fort. I soloed the quest at 14. Just control who you aggro and you dont have to die. the easiest way to pull Ulfwag is to come down towards the wall from behind the fort and than just run up the hill again. He came with just 1 wolf, easy peasy.

Any level 15 char should be able to do this quest alon...Most of the MOD are green or gray to a level 15 char...except for the goblin king and mystic who are blue...this staff is better that staff of life giving me a +10 dmg over the other staff...plus +2 to staff...enjoy

WTF are you smoking, the Charred Bone Staff is WAY better than staff of life. If you still refuse to use the better weapon, than go to Tomb of Mithra, and get a Staff of Forgotten Ways. Dont be an idiot. USE THIS STAFF.

I managed to find the Hill warrior I needed to get the staff, finaly!
And NO the 6.0/3.0 is not even as good as the staff of life, I tried and I couldnt even solo blues without trouble.
My staff of life is now green and I am glad I could get the upgrade, even though its allready blue to me it kicks ***, the plus on this staff is not the dps/delay its the 5% magic bonus that does it.
I wonder when a staff can be enchanted by a Enchanter, they dont want Ironwood for enchatment (bug?) even tho so steel weapons are cheaper then Ironwood (and can be enchanted I hear)
My next step weapon I hope is a droped one because I cannot aford much at present, do Staffs drop in the goblin Mines? I do hope so!
fiery torch
# Dec 09 2001 at 4:17 AM Rating: Default
I was sent to get a fiery torch from a mountain warrior (assuming dwarf, because I allready got on in lower level and sold one:P), the only dwarfs I know are grey now( riverbank near bridge in NBM and SBM by church)

My question, where can I find higher lvl dwarfs ?

The first part of this quest does appear to change a bit. I was tasked with obtaining a Grumoz Demon's Fiery Heart. This can be found in the ruins next to the bridge near Prydwen Keep. Of course you have to ask the demon real nice like...;-)

well actually from what I understand depending on your class she could send you to different locations such asme she sent into Camelot hills to find and kill Aithne con.. as soon as I find this individual I will post the location lol as of yet I am still serching oh and I got the quest at level 14... I was hoping this page would help but it appears that warcry is a step of 2 ahead on this particlar quest

I believe Aithne Con is between Perdwyn Keep and West Downs on a hill of filidhs. (Due south of Perdwyn and north of West Downs)

There's another group of filidhs in a valley closer to West Downs, but this is not where Aithne Con is.

This is a nice quest for friars. The first mob that you have to kill can vary, although it tends to be one of the named Filidhs behind West Downs.

Aithne Con spawns between Prydwen keep and Camelot. She is almost straight across and to the left facing camelot from pry. ALong the coast you can find her.
