    Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

    Visit Magess Daphnea at level 13, she gives you the Soul of the Academy Quest.
    She sends you to see Nia Loman in Caifelle. Nia gives you various information about the quest and a soul gem which you must hold on to. She asks you to bring back the soul of Caldech grindylow who is S - S/W of Caifelle (loc 48k 31k). You will see a large shadow on the ground the Caldech will pop from. Once you kill him you will recieve part of his soul, you must then kill him a second time as the soul has "shattered", you will receive another piece of his soul. note: After both kills smaller grindy's will pop but were gray to me at 14.
    You will need to assemble the item Nia will give you instructions or simply put the gem in your quickbar press your "use item" key, usually E, and then the hotbar number which has the gem, this should assemble it. Give the final soul back to Nia and you will be rewarded with necklace, xp and silver.
    This was a very easy quest and I would rate it high.

    As previously stated, if you do the quests in Camelot for levels 7 and 11, you will NOT be able to do this quest in SI. My Minstrel is very disappointed, needless to say lol.

    I got this at 11 and it was relatively easy, so long as you kill the shards (conned green to me) as soon as they pop. I didn't put the soul shards into the quickbar, just the soul gem given to me by Nia, hit E and then click the soul gem in the quickbar to put the pieces back together. Got a very nice ring for my minstrel.

    The item given to Minstrels is the Ring of Adriot, +3 Cha, +3 Dex, 100% con and qual, nice item for a relatively easy quest.
    My minstrel trainer gave me the quest in Caer Gothwaite.

    This quest and the "Academy Research" quest at level 7 are alternatives to completing the level 7 and 11 epics from Camelot. My sorcoress who had completed them pre-SI could not get these, but another one who hadn't been to Cammy at all could.

    Caldech is yellow at 11, and the three soul shards that pop after his death are green. You get a piece of Caldech's soul from each soul shard. Then put the gem Nia gave you & all three shards on your quickbar, hit the use item key, and hit the gem. That will combine his soul, which you turn in to Nia to finish the epic.

    If the souls are grey to you it should still work this way, just to clear up some confusion on the deviation from the current write-up.
