DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Per Patch 1.60:
- Gokstad's Jewel - This level 18 Hunter only quest, given out by Singrid, has been renamed "The Wanestone Jewel" quest to avoid confusion with the level 11 Shadowblade trainer quest, "Jewel Hunt".

Per Patch 1.76:
- The Wanestone Jewel - Players are now directed to hunt dark wolves in Gotar on step two.

There are actually two Wanestone Jewel quests, one for Shadowblades and one for Hunters. This is the Hunter version. The one for Shadowblades is called Gokstad: Wolves in Myrkwood.

You get the backstory to this at about 11th level, but you don't get the quest itself until around 18th. At 18th, Singrid the Hunter Trainer (is located in Jordheim, second building to the left of the entrance from East Svealand), will tell you to go find Gokstad.

Gokstad is a Troll, usually found wandering around just outside the gates of Muspelheim (not to be confused with GokSTORM, who is a considerably higher-level named giant who drops a fire cloak!).

When you talk to Gokstad, he will attack you. He's blue at 19th, and a fairly easy kill. As he dies, he will say something about a jewel eaten by Haglion's minions, and that "one is true and two are false". (this is the step that has been changed in patch 1.76, you now go to Gotar and kill dark wolves. the Dark Wolves can be found near loc=37488, 24921 in Gotar across the river from the Meandering Ruins, spawn time is around 8PM-7AM and con blue to a lvl 21.

Haglion's minions are found in Myrkwood after dark. If you go southwest from Gna Faste until you find yourself surrounded by mora dancers and riders, you're in the right area. Haglion himself is a named werewolf - you don't have to kill him for this quest. His minions are large wolves. You'll get either "fishbone necklace" or "Wanestone Jewel necklace" from them - the Wanestone Jewel is the one you want.

The number of minions you have to kill seems to be variable - I got the Wanestone Jewel from my third minion, but one of my guildmates has killed nearly a dozen and seen nothing but fishbones. Once you get the Wanestone Jewel, go back to Singrid. She will give you xp and tell you to keep the necklace.

Level 18 Hunter was not given this quest.

Reward:
  Wanestone Jewel Necklace

Found the new Dark Wolves at approximately 37488, 24921 in Gotar across the river from the Meandering Ruins.

They were blue to me at 21, and one of them dropped a Necklace of Solid Darkness. They despawned at 7AM and respawned again at 8PM.
Challenge but fun at 18

I enjoyed this quest as an 18 Hunter. I set off towards the gates of Muspelheim where I have never been. As I approached the gates I was intimidated by the few graves around the large stone gate structure. It was an impressive sight to say the least but safe around that area and no where did I see the troll. I headed back a bit and there he was, blue and an easy kill. He was neutral so I clicked on him and proceeded with dialogue. He then will attack, blue and an easy kill at 18.
I then headed towards Gna Faste and arrived at dusk. I made my way towards the mora dancer area when night fell. I slowly made my way around this area of blue and yellow mobs before I finally found a minion. It was neutral to my surprise so I am guessing my positive werewolf faction helped me out. As I was prepping I had 2 Blood Wolves attack at separate times both yellow and both doable at 18 with pet taunting and attacking and me plugging with arrows at short range. I killed 2 minions shortly after, the first blue and the second yellow (which had the necklace).
Fun quest, I can't wait to try out Muspelheim in the near future. =)
Night Spawn

Just an FYI, the minions only spawn at night. Haglion has one minion with him (and they attack together if you try to pull the minion). The others roam around the same vicinity.

I got the quest, killed the ww and minions b4 reading this. Got nothing but a lil exp. Anyway, as far as a pet to get for this, Get a priest. I would dare say they are by far the best mid level pet you can ever get. They have poison, web, a shield buff for you and the group, and when your way down on that orange mob that just spawned, he will HEAL you.

Think what you will, but I will 4ever think of the priests as the best pet by far.

Found Haglion and his minions wandering and patroling around 31350, 53800

Also found him at 30000, 50000

Let me also say that this is -=NOT=- an easy kill for an 18th level hunter.

There is no safe place to camp around there.

Haglion is yellow at 18th level. The two minions with him were both YELLOW as well, and they are social! They add and come to each others aid!

Have a good pet with you before you even come close to this challenge of an attack.

I suggest heading North from Gna Faste, and getting an arachite shadowslinker as a pet. They cast web so that can slow down the minions while you take Haglion out, and then his minions.

PREPARE FOR THIS.
