DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Talk to Samlauf Kolsson in Huginfell, who tells you to kill the Svartalf
assassin named Golga and his band of mercenaries before they attack and kill the town healer. Around evening time Golga (a kobold rogue of some sort) and 4 chanters will make their way to Healer Saydyn into town and attack him. Kill them and talk to Saydyn again to receive your reward.

Samlauf Kolsson says, "You are here just in time! I just have gotten a report that the svartalf have send assassins to slay Saydyn, our town healer. You must stop then before they can do that."

Dialog quest box:
Protect Saydyn from the assassin Golga.

You have been given the Protecting the Healer quest.

[Step #1] Hurry and protect the Healer Saydyn from harm.

Kill Golga and the rest is easy, we only had to kill Golga and the two that stayed with him.

[Step #3] Talk to Saydyn and make sure he is alright.

Saydyn says, "Thank the gods you were around to save me. I would shudder to think what may have happened if you were not there. Perhaps this gift may aid you in protecting other people as well."

You receive a The Healer's Defender from Saydyn!
You have finished the Protecting the Healer quest.

PRN Guide to this quest:

Step 1 Talk to Samlauf Kolsson in Huginfell.

Step 2 Talk to healer Saydyn in Huginfell.

Step 3 Talk to healer Saydyn again. This releases the kobold mob.

Step 4 Kill the kobold assassin Golga and his mob of kobolds.

Step 5 If you defend healer Saydyn, but do not get the kill on Golga, travel into forest toward blodfelags, and Golga is in the Kobold Camp to your right after you leave town. You may kill him there. Easy kills, FAST respawn, nice loot, good bonus XP. Players are timid about villages and camps in the area because they can be tough. This village is a pushover but beware the fast spawns. Level 20ish Warrior and Healer could not wipe out village before respawn consistantly. Respawn not that bad if you have good faction. These guys work off of svartalf faction I believe and do not aggro if you have fought your spiders by Gna Faste.

Step 6 If you fail to defend the Healer Saydyn, I do not know what happens regarding this quest. It is my assumption that Saydyn is more buff than yall are, and if you fail you will perish before him. Then go to the village and cap Golga and everything should be fine.

Step 7 After successful kill of Golga return to Saydyn for your reward.

Rewards:
  Nightsworn
  The Healer's Defender

If you do not kill him in the Huginfell when he comes to attack the healer, he can be later found at his camp - which is just SW of Huginfell in West Svealand at loc #41039, 54907.

1-3 mobs will also attack with him depending on your level.

I received this quest (lvl 19 Skald) and awaited for the mob of Svartalfs. I was amazed to see Golga surrounded by 10 blue/green enchanters as they proceeded to the healer's house. They quickly laid waste to the poor healer and he fell within seconds, can't imagine what they would have done to me.

I waited and followed the chanters and Golga back to their camp. I pulled Golga who was then followed by one green enchanter. I killed both and received the sword from the freshly resurrected healer.

So no xps (except for the two kills), but got the sword. Impossible quest to go toe to toe with 11 Svartalfs, even with a group.

How did you??

I'm reading how everyone found this quest to be so easy? This is beyond the level 17 requirement, as Golga and his Chanters were blue to me at 21. They made short work of me when they came for the Healer and sadly.. Poor Saydyn met his end. Life goes on - another pop.

I tried to get them to come back again, but they never did. I was forced to chase Golga all the way to his camp where I ended his fool life (Which was alot easier, let me tell you...) When I grabbed him, only his friend the Hunter came and he came a few seconds later. Where were those four Chanters from earlier? This must not have cared for him much..

Just goes to show ; When the front door is blocked, go in the back door.
Easy

I'm an 18 Skald and this was incredibly easy for me to do solo. I let the assassins kill Saydn because i would have been no match for all of them. Then I went to the camp and pulled Golga (the Svartlaf are neutral to me). I killed him then ran back to Huginfel and the chanter(s) that helped Golga didn't chase. Nice sword too.
No NPC help

I had to wait for Golga to respawn to get credit for the kill.

Apparently, if you don't hit the assassin and his friends before they get to the healer, the dwarf will try to defend himself. This means that even if you do kill Golga, you get no XP and no credit for it since you had help from an NPC (the same as when a guard kills something you're fighting)

So, If you don't want to have to wait for the respawn and get into a tough fight for no xp, etc, hit Golga before he can hit the healer.

BTW, since the patch that makes the Svartalf look like Dark Elves instead of Kobolds, Golga's no longer so easy to pick out. He does spawn next to the NW tent, however. He's usually facing into the camp instead of on its perimeter and even solo, you'll pull a helper along with him if you pull him from the camp.

I did this quest and I am a spiritmaster but I had Nightsworn. I had read I had to give back the sword to have the Healer's Defender but Saydin don't want. Some body had an idea what I have to do?
Easy as pie?

When I did this one it was amazingly easy. I got the quest, along with some others in my group (we were hunting blodfelags for the XP and came back to empty our packs). Everyone was off doing their thing and I went looking for the Healer, once I found and talked to the healer, I jumped down and saw the pack of Mob coming at me, I simply targetted Golga, let him eat my DD shouts (I'm a skald, was 18th when I did this) and beat him to death. I don't know what happened to the other four svarts that were with him because they walked past me and were no where to be found when I turned to get some more XP from them. So I simply talked to Saydyn again and finished off the quest.

Bugged? No idea, was pretty unchallenging however.

It's not that easy at low (lvl 18ish) levels. I did it with two healers protecting me and a lot of fodder (sorry to all the greys in the area). Think everyone enjoyed it though :)

You could wait for Saydn to get aggro then join in and heal him up. The sheer amount of direct damage the Svarts do is pretty off putting.

Some things that will make this quest easier.
1. Kill a bunch of tinglers and get your Svartalf faction up to neutral. When the kobolds attack the town, pull Golga from as far away as possible. This way only one of the others will assist him. Golga is the key here. You DO NOT have to kill all the kobolds.
2. if you fail this quest, even if Golga is killed, check the kobold camp periodically. He wil spawn at the tent close to the road. Pull him and kill him. Once again, having good Svartalf faction will minimize any adds.
3. The reward was changed a few patches ago for non-melee types. Healers, shaman, spiritmasters and runecasters get a nice bracer. If you previously did this quest you can go back and turn the sword in for a bracer if you are of the appropriate class.

I talked to Samlaug and started this quest. I ended up dying at the feet of the healer. By the time I got a rez from someone Golga was dead already by someone else. I went back to Samlaug to start this again, but nothing happens. Can I still finish this quest or do I need to kill someone elses Golga when they start it??
RE: Gottlob
# Feb 23 2002 at 11:11 PM Rating: Default
The same thing happened to me. If you open up your quest journal it will mention that all you have to do is kill Golga. Thus if you die trying to defend the Healer, go west following the road and you will come up to the Svartalf camp. Golga spawns right in front of the tent to the right closest to the road. Watch out, though, regardless of your faction there will be at least one chanter that will come out with him.

He was blue to my 19th shaman. Have fun and enjoy.
Thats what that was!!

Was out one night with my alt a 10 spiritmaster and we we're headed out from Hugg when all of a sudden this big group of Kobolds comes running at us and downs the whole party... they pretty much swept thru the area in and anyone low level got smoked..I'll have to take my main there and do the quest... I actually have the sword already from a guy who did it for the fun of it!!

This is the best quest EVER of all time in any MMORPG.

Soooo funny to watch a gangbang squad of Kobolds come around back of the healers house and nail him and anyone kos in the area.

A MUST DO for anyone sick and twisted to enjoy mass death and carnage.

P.S. Do this quest during PRIME TIME hunting, you wont be dissapointed.

P.S.S. You only have to kill the named Kobold guy, the one in all black. Let the wizard and archer kobolds have fun with newbies around the area. Hehe.
Wow - can this quest description be any more wrong?
# Nov 21 2001 at 12:37 PM Rating: Default
Quest name : Healers Shield
Quest giver: Samlauf Kolsson

Talk to Samlaug, he warns you about the attempt on the town healers life. About 4 minutes later a band of 5 svartalf's will run into the town from behind the healers hut. You job is to kill them before they kill the town healer.
Nightsworn
# Nov 21 2001 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default
Nightsworn is a teriffic quest short sword. Golga spawns in the first camp in the forest outside of huginfell with the chanters and hunters - he's in the teepee tent.
