DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

At level 7, your guild trainer will give you the traveler's way quest. The quest description and reward varies by class, but is pretty easy to follow. This results in a decent class-specific magic item.

The actual quests are listed under their own names, click a link to the right to go to your respective quest.

  • Path of Essence -- Strange Matters Indeed

    Blademaster Quest
    # May 07 2002 at 11:49 AM Rating: Default
I just finished the quest, took all of 20 minutes. You go to the "y" in the road close to Connla just past the bridge. I talked to Ciar then swam across
the river to the dead trees and talked to Lucan, I then went back and killed Ciar(con blue). I received
3200 exp points, the swordsmans belt and 2 silver and some copper, 417 exp for killing Ciar, and then took the branch to Torrence 100 yards on the other side of the bridge and gave it to him. I received another 1200 exp points. Not to bad for a Level 7 Blademaster. Thats my 2 cents worth. You guys should read your journal a little.

    The quest isnt broken
    # Apr 23 2002 at 9:51 PM Rating: Default
For all you people saying the quest is broken, you should try to talk to the guardian before killing him. He says that Ciar is the evil one and you should kill her. If you kill her and not him the quest goes just fine.
    By the Way
    # Feb 13 2002 at 11:48 PM Rating: Default
Some of the quetions listed below can be so easily answered if the quest journal were checked on your character. Like asking where Ciar is. It clearly states that she is in the dead oaks and trees to the right of the crossroads south towards Connla. How much more speciific do you need. Also for her gaurdian it says he is across the estuary from the town of Connla in the dead trees and only spawns at night. Come on people read the dialog and barring that check your quest journal it is right there. You swim directly across from the bind stone in Connla take ten steps and as long as it is night time you run right into him.

I completed stage one in FInding Ciar (Another way to find her is to head north from Connla, when you reach the crossroads a little past the bridge, turn right follow only a short distance and there are the dead trees as noted below she is in there.). She tells me to go kill her gaurdian who only spawns at night by the way. So he is gtreen to me and I kill him quickly. He says to me please do me one last favor and take my branch to Torrance. Easy enough except that the upper chat screen then tells me that I have declined the Dying Wish quest which I was never given the opportunity to accept or decline. So I end up with a green equivelant exp bump and about 56cp. However I did get the belt which is nice for an anti-twink and I did get the branch he wanted me to take to Torrance. Torrance is located at the tower. I have tried to give it to him and he wont take it. It sounds like this broken so for you gaurdians doing this quest be careful.

My mentalist got the quest about Ciar. We all know mages cant fight right? So i cast my DOT spell on her and go into melee. Well all of a sudden a quest box shows up and then dissapears. In the upper dialog box it says <you have refused the dying wish quest> So i did not get a class item because i killed her. Whats up with that?Anyways just thought id share my unfortunate fate with everyone. Good luck!!

Who is the guild trainer? Is he my class trainer? Cause I'm a lvl 7 Hero and when I click on her she doesn't give me the Travelers way quest. Do I have to finish Destructive Forces quest first, or is their a guild trainer if your in a guild that somehow trains you in the way of guilds and its a guild quest? Are there guild quests? I'm confused...
    RE: confused
    # Jan 31 2002 at 10:26 PM Rating: Default
if i'm right then Destructive Forces is the travelers way quest for the path you chose. My druid got the Enchanting Willow quest at lvl 7, and my eldritch got Destructive Forces at lvl 7.

    # Jan 25 2002 at 7:38 PM Rating: Default
guardian is past torrance the druid trainer across from connla, walk south from that druid tower and you should see lucan the ghost guardian, talk to him and that should be the next part of your quest.
    Mad sprite
    # Dec 15 2001 at 1:25 PM Rating: Default
The mad sprite is west for tir Mbeo, you do not need to kill him, just talk with him. He might go into the water and drown himself, but will respawn soon. On the other hand, this was for enchanter. It might be he attacks other classes, but i had no reason to kill him at least.
    Rangers reward
    # Nov 26 2001 at 10:12 AM Rating: Default
I completed the rangers quest and got the Shroud of Nature, or Natures Cloak, or whatever it is called. I am 7th level, and it currently cons yellow to me. It also lists as an 8th level magic item.
    This is a 'path' quest
    # Oct 28 2001 at 11:35 AM Rating: Decent
This looks to be part of the set of level 7 path quests. Each path (as opposed to 'way') gets a specific quest at level 7. The Mad Sprite, Strange Matter's Indeed, and the enchanter version of this quest are all the same.

So all folks following the path of essence (Nightshade, Bard, Enchanter, Champion) get the quest with the sprite. Others get whatever path quest they get from their trainers.
    Enchanter Reward
    # Oct 26 2001 at 7:57 AM Rating: Default
The Enchanter trainer in Tir Na Nag tells you to talk to the mad sprite who is located at a lake West of Tir Na mBeo. The sprite will chatter away and then attack you, but at level 7 he's blue so your pet will despatch him quickly. You'll find in your inventory '******* Message'. ***** can be found in the large building in Mag Mell. The reward is a woven gold ring which adds 2 to Intelligence and Charisma.

I just gave him the jewel, didn't have to say anything to him. Of course, I'm a ranger so it might be different.
    Warden's Quest
    # Oct 20 2001 at 12:58 AM Rating: Default
I messed up. I found the leantos. Defeated the druid and the vision druid. Learned the lesson from the Empyrean and promptly forgot. What do I need to tell Cathbad in Howth to get him to accept the gem? (Please be sympathetic -- do not flame. It was late, I was tired )
    RE: Warden's Quest
    # Mar 01 2002 at 2:52 PM Rating: Decent
You just have to right click on him, and he'll mumble some inconsequential crap, and ask if you have anything for him. Then you give him the gem, and that's pretty much all you need to do. I got a neklace with like +3 str and +6 hits, or something for the Hero version.

    # Oct 18 2001 at 2:09 AM Rating: Default
To equip ANY item..just drop on your chars image instead of the slots that surround it...(in the inventory screen of course)..this will automatically place it in the slot it belongs.

The reward for a druid is pretty swank. Gem of the Forest, it's a piece of jewlery that's +quickness, empathy, and power.
    Ciar

I can't seem to find Ciar anywhere. I've been looking for days.. could someone help please?
    RE: Ciar
    # Oct 18 2001 at 3:34 AM Rating: Default
If you head towards Howth from Connla, along the path just before going through a valley, you'll see to your left some dead wood. (Trees with no leaves) She's in that patch of wood and pretty easy to find there. She kinda look ghost/spirit-like but easy enough to spot. Good luck to you. :)

    # Oct 16 2001 at 1:42 AM Rating: Default
I completed this quest today at level 9 it was fairly easy. The hard part was finding Ciar's Guardian, but thankfully I found him with the help of Bandurin's post.
Now I've received the jewel but have tried equiping it to neck, fingers and wrists but only received messages saying "unable to equip (item)there". Of course I've noticed many problems with completing kill tasks and it still telling me I have to kill an NPC when I just finished killing 5 of that NPC. Hopefully I'll be able to equip when I log back in, but still, can anyone tell me where to try?
    Thanks :)

    Ranger Cloak
    # Oct 15 2001 at 4:12 AM Rating: Default
I finished this quest today as a Ranger and to all you super-hopefuls, sorry, it just has a normal cloak graphic (although I think it's a different shade then 1s cheap-green dye). You should also know that you should start this quest at 7, but that doesn't mean you have to finish it then. I waited until 8, then went and tried soloing. The guardian was yellow, but I managed to get in a few lucky hits and a 1hp vs. 1hp evade to win the fight. The rest of the quest went off flawlessly as well. One other tip, around 8-9 the wind ghouls in the area make good day-time hunting. They sometimes drop wind ghoul essense which sells for 2s each. I'd suggest bringing long-range arrows.
