DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

This is a unique quest that I chanced on by tagging Oran as a 27 Ranger. Two important differences from other quests: you can't kill anything, and both your journal and most of the characters WILL NOT prompt you with the correct [key words]; you have to remember what you were told and then fake it. There is a LOT of running around, but a good reward.

Here's how it played out when I did it; your mileage may vary.

1. Oran O'Braonain is the Celt standing by the window inside the stone building in Connla. When tagged, he says something about a possible [treasure] project, but he isn't a good judge of character. He wants you to run up to Sile O'Dubhan in Ardagh to see if she thinks you're trustworthy.

2. As the note in your quest log says, Sile is standing in a little depression beside the water, about due E of the round wooden building. For a Celt she's hard to see. Sile is blind. Talk to her and she approves of your niceness and sends you back to Oran.

3. When you get back to Oran, tell him that Sile says you have a [pure heart]. Oran tells you that Sile might be cured if the Empyreans will intervene. He then sends you to take a note to Ardghal Corcoran in Tir na mBeo.

4. Ardghal is the Lurk dancing on the table in the stone inn. Give him the note, and he tells you a long and interesting history about how the Elves and Lurk's abandoned the Firbolgs and went behind the veil, only to be forced to return. When they returned, they found that, while they were out, not only had the Firbolgs become magic, but so had the Celts that had moved in, and also that some new creatures, the Empyreans, had appeared. The Empyreans seem to be made entirely of the unique natural magic that powers the Celts and Firbolgs. They have refused to have any dealings with Fagan or with any Hibernian, and will not intervene for or against any of them.

Eventually Ardghal gives you a package to take to the Empyrean Keeper Rasa in Bri Leith to see if you can bargain for a salve to heal Sile. He warns you to be nice, because Fagan is trying to win their trust.

5. Both Ardghal and your journal say that Keeper Rasa is near Caille. Yeah, like Seattle is near San Francisco. Fortunately, I knew about where to look. She's in a little village of Empyreans in a pocket valley far to the NE of Caille, at ( 51,220 , 14,410 ) . I don't know whether you can get bad faction with the Empyreans, but if you have this will be a long stealthy walk, since the hills are filled with them. The easiest way to get there is probably to take a horse to Drum Cain, hop off just when you see the fort, and strike out due East.

Keeper Rasa is in the stone hut with the light on. She is surprised that you would bother her and requires you to pass several tests to see if you're worthy. The first thing she wants is a perfect glass orb from an Empyrean Wisp.

6. As your journal suggests, you need to do this non-violently. I struck off SW toward Caille (also seen at loc=33, 14 Valley of Bri Leith.) and right clicked the first wisp I found; when it faced me, I asked "May I have a perfect glass orb?" and one popped into my inventory.

7. Keeper Rasa, when given the orb, expressed further surprise and said she also needed a bag of moss from a moss sheerie and a bunch of poppies from a primrose.

8 Back to Caille. The moss sheerie gave me a dirty look but was gray and didn't attack; when I asked for a bag of moss it appeared in my inventory.

The primrose went off into a spiel about the joy of wandering the hills picking wildflowers and ends up asking what I wanted. Neither she nor your journal will remind you that you want [poppies], but again she gives them to you when asked.

9. Back to Keeper Rasa, who chats briefly and gives you the Salve of the Eagle Eye. The journal says to take it back to Ardghal.

10. Run to Drum Cain and take a horse to TnmB. Ardghal doesn't talk until you give him the Salve. He then gives the Salve back to you and tells you to give it to Sile and tell her about her [sight].

11. Back to Sile in Ardagh. This part of the quest may be buggy; I said something about [sight] to her before I gave her the Salve, and she was healed – she wouldn't take the Salve after that, but she thanked me and gave me a pot of enamel that some fool had given to a blind person. Not much of a payback for all that work, but she casually mentions that you might want to swing by Oran again.

12. Back to Oran in Connla, who basically ignores you until you say "Sile"s blindness has been cured." At this point he transforms into the Empyrean Keeper Oran, and relates how Rasa cursed him for intervening when he saw Sile wandering blindly through Bri Leith. He thanks you and gives you 3 gold and change and some exp.

Even better, however, is the fact that the Sword of the Keeper has appeared in your inventory.

Reward:
  Sword of the Keeper

Mythic needs to even out the quest rewards. There is no quest near this level for a LW of similar quality. Why should that be?
Bad faction I guess

No sword

Ok, I finished the whole quest just fine, but I'm having a major problem at the end. The last thing he said to me was, "You see, I'm not really a Celt, but an outcast Empyrean, forced to help my people for helping Sile."

No words in brackets, just that. I have no gold, xp, or falcata from him. What gives? =/
RE: No sword
# Jan 20 2004 at 2:44 AM Rating: Decent
Nevermind, I figured out what was wrong.

For some reason I had to right click on Oran again (the new Empyrean Oran, not the original that respawns) and then got another message with a word in brackets. However, it got bugged and clicking on any bracketed words wasn't doing anything. So I had to close the dialogue box, right click on Oran again, and then click on the bracketed word.
not for an eldritch

Could not get Oran Whoever to talk to my eldritch at either 29th or 30th level (I tried twice), although my husband's 29th level blademaster had no problems. As the reward is a sword, this probably means casters can't get it.

Husband says sword is nice, though!

Just in case anyone struggles - Sile took the item and I had to say [sight] twice before she handed over the dye

All good though, and sword obtained

OK so orb delivered and I now have poppies, tried asking Sheerie for Bag of Moss - no dice.

I only have Poppies but journal says to return itemS (plural)

Here's hoping that she'll make do with the flowers on their own.......

......Yay!!!

No need for moss, on way with salve from just 2 elements :)
Hmmmm

Well I'm on this one right now and there is no request for moss - wonder if it's a bugm or if that elelment has been dropped....
Sword

This is a great weapon for any Celtic Dualing class but not for anyone else. If you are a melee class that ahs no Celtic dual skill and you pick this up give it to someone that actually needs it. The weapon is extremely good especially when you get lucky enough to pick up two of them. The quest itself is quite easy... i'm not quite sure why people are having trouble I pulled it off without a hitch. For those that don't know the keepers sword is a "Falcata" and it's darkened in color looks quite nice. It goes great with an Earthen defender until you get lucky enough to pick up another Keepers sword or better yet do the onetimedrop quest for the Pestilence sickle.

Let me repeat this blade is of absolutely NO use to you unless you are a celtic dualing class. If you happen across it do the right thing and support your realm!
Bug

Keeper Rasa asked me to retrieve poppies but never
mentioned the moss. . . until AFTER I retrieved the poppies.
Now I cannot get the moss nor complete the quest
until that point.

I bugged it to the Myth support but no response yet.
ANOTHER sword reward :(
# Jun 28 2002 at 1:12 AM Rating: Default
Sad that swords are overly popular as quest items. I mean first this quest and at 29 you can do Withe's one time drop for pestilent sickle. Then at 35 you can get that nice rapier, forgot it's name. So, good swords all over the place nicely leveled so you can upgrade smoothly but where are the good piercing weps?
RE: ANOTHER sword reward :(
# Jun 28 2002 at 1:14 AM Rating: Default
Sorry, the 3rd weapon I'm referring to is Crescent reaver from Spifnar One Time Drop.

Still, 3 superb swords spaced nicely for you to upgrade when you level up. No piercing stuff at all :(
Great Quest.

This is probably the best quest i've done.

When I handed in the Bag of Moss and Bunch of Poppies to Keeper Rasa I received 1,651,404 xp and 3 gold.

After giving Sile the Salve I got 3,302,808 xp, 3 gold and a Dark Blue Enamel which you can sell for 15g.

Finally, returning to Oran and chatting awhile I got the Sword of the Keeper, 2,477,106 xp and 3 gold.

All in all, I got 1 bubble of xp at level 27, 24 gold and a great Sword.

Fantastic!!

Would be nice to see the sword, but according to my game, sile is in callie not ardargh, and she won't take the orb, nor does she do anything when i type sight
Decent XP, too.

Not only is the sword nice, but I got 8/10th of a bubble of experience at 27th for a quest with no combat. Lots of running, but something to do when none of your friends are around.

How do you get rasa to talk and give tests!? I riht click and she says she doesnt like to be disturbed, thats it.
RE: chub
# Mar 16 2002 at 12:06 PM Rating: Default
I tried several words and phrases to get Rasa to speak. Finally she responded to something along the lines of: "How can I prove myself?"
Making Rasa the Keeper spawn
# Mar 11 2002 at 5:27 AM Rating: Default
I probably visited the empyrean keeper camp 10-15 times to find Rasa the keeper... no luck. In the end I got so frustrated I decided to kill some empyrean keepers to see if Rasa spawned. After killing 4 empyrean keepers she spawned - and I got to tlak to her to coninue the quest. I did NOT get negative empyrean factor doing this. They all still con neutral to me.
Required Level?
