DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Brief Walkthrough: 1) Talk to Qalen at loc=49227,20803 Veil Rift 2) Go kill Veil Shards, on the bridge at loc=30683,23953 Veil Rift, until you have collected 3 Essence Shards. 3) Take the 3 Essence Shards back to Qalen and hand them in for your reward. lvl 8 received 2,550 experience and 2 silver. Dialog from quest: Talk to Qalen at loc=49227,20803,11399 dir=204 Veil Rift Qalen says, "Well met, Hero. Might I bend your ear for a minute to listen to [my tale]?" Qalen says, "As you may know, I have been sent here to the Veil Rift by the Shar Queen herself to study the magic of this strange place. It is my duty to learn as much as I can of the creatures here in hopes that their secrets will [aid our fight] against the enemy." Qalen says, "Recently I was able to develop a defensive spell that helps to shield our forces from enemy attacks. The Queen was pleased with my success for a few minutes. Shortly after she saw the spell work she ordered me to [make it better]." Qalen says, "My initial spell drew upon the essences of the veil wraiths that dwell within this place. I have been studying other creatures with similar structures as the veil wraiths in hoping that their essences will have similar, if not better, results than the veil wraiths. But the research is [not easy]." Qalen says, "Preparing for the spell takes a long time and the essences have a bad habit of dissipating if they are not worked into the spell fairly quickly. It makes it [quite a challenge] for me, one that, surprisingly, the Queen seems to understand." Qalen says, "When I explained my situation to her, she agreed to let me hire an assistant. It worked out quite well for my trials with the first spell. Once again she has provided me with the money necessary to hire a strong Hero like you. Would you be interested in being [my assistant]?" Will you help Qalen with his spell research? [Levels 8 -11] You have been given the Shards of the Veil quest. [Step #1] Speak with Qalen about what you must do as his assistant. Qalen says, "I shall praise your name to the Queen, (your name). Now, here is what I need you to do. There are such things known as veil shards that inhabit this place. From my studies I have determined that they are related in some way to the veil wraiths. It is my hope that [their essence] will strengthen my spell." Qalen says, "Unlike the veil wraiths, the veil shards keep their essence in, well, a shard. When the veil shard disperses after being defeated, it will drop its shard. Unfortunately these shards are fragile and often shatter upon the veil shard being defeated. It may take you a few tries to obtain the three shards that I need. You can find them on the third and fourth islands west of here. Return to me when you've collected three shards." [Step #1] Hunt the veil shards on the third and fourth islands west of Qalen until you receive three essence shards. [Step #2] Continue hunting veil shards on the third and fourth islands west of Qalen for two more essence shards. [Step #3] Continue hunting veil shards on the third and fourth islands west of Qalen until you have one more essence shard. [Step #4] Return to Qalen on the island containing the portal to Tir na Nog. It lies to the east of the veil shards. Qalen says, "(your name), I have been preparing myself to test my spell with the essences of the veil shards. Please give me one of the essence shards you collected." [Step #5] Give the first Essence Shard to Qalen. Qalen says, "Now, carefully hand me the second essence shard. We wouldn't want you to drop it and break it, now would we?" [Step #5] Give the second Essence Shard to Qalen. Qalen says, "I shall put a shield around those two to protect them while I use the third for my spell. Why don't you go ahead and give it to me now?" [Step #5] Give the last Essence Shard to Qalen. Qalen says, "Excellent! Three perfect essence shards! I shall begin casting my spell shortly, but first I must fulfill my obligation to you. Here is the money I promised you, (your name). Thank you for acting as my assistant for this spell." You are awarded 2,550 experience! You are awarded 2 silver and some copper! You have completed the Shards of the Veil quest! |
