Hurrnos says, "Hello traveler, don't be startled, I'm on your side. I've agreed to help the denizens of the Kobold Undercity because I don't think the terracites will be able to defend themselves if the forces of Midgard [fall] to Gullveig."

Hurrnos says, "It's in my best interest to be on the winning side in this conflict and I'm certain this is it. Now I try to help the kobolds understand the terracites, and give what [information] I can to help."

Hurrnos says, "Recently, my people put together a plan to double cross the kobolds. They offered to make a peace treaty with the kobolds to fight Gullveig together, but all along they were planning it as a [trap]."

Hurrnos says, "Yes, a trap, and in more ways than one. They wanted to trick the kobolds and catch us unawares. Fortunately, we uncovered their duplicity in time and didn't fall for their [lies]."

Hurrnos says, "What is really disturbing to me though is that they used the trap to find out who within their own group was loyal. The leaders suggested a peace treaty with the kobolds to see which of their people were [against the fighting]."

Hurrnos says, "In their minds, a [true terracite] would never surrender or make peace with the kobold invaders."

Hurrnos says, "The reason I'm so disturbed by this is that my sister, Karlees, most certainly voiced support for the peace treaty. She would never go against the terracite people and beliefs, but I know that she hates the conflict and the fighting and would support a peaceful decision if one was [offered]."

Hurrnos says, "I've tried to get her to join me here, but she isn't interested. She feels that would be a betrayal, despite the fact that unless the terracites join with the kobolds, Gullveig will crush my people to [dust]."

Hurrnos says, "I'm really worried about what happened to my sister when the treaty was revealed as a lie. They may have taken her [captive] as a traitor, even though I know she'd never betray the terracites."

Hurrnos says, "Will you go and [find her]? She probably won't come with you, but I can't just sit by and do nothing while she is tortured or maybe even executed! You may need some help, as she's probably under a double guard."

"Will you free Karlees?" [Levels 44-46]
You have been given the Free Karlees (Midgard) quest.

Hurrnos says, "The terracites are probably holding her captive at their camp to the west and south of here. Go west until the forest becomes impenetrable, and then turn south. You should see the camp before long to the southeast."

[Step #1] Travel west of Hurrnos in the Underground Forest until you can't go any farther. Turn south and be alert for a terracite camp to the southeast. Kill the terracite guards holding Karlees.
  • move southwest around the tree and south to loc=12450,20100 & kill the 2 terracites guarding Karlees.

  • The terracite guard dies!
    The terracite guard dies!

[Step #3] Speak with Karlees in the Underground Forest.

Karlees says, "My brother must have sent you. Tell him I still cannot join him, despite what our people have done to me. But I see that these terracites can be treacherous and will keep clear of them. Tell him good luck with the kobolds, I finally understand why he joined them. Good luck to you too, Dwarf!"

  • go back to camp and talk to Hurrnos.

  • Hurrnos says, "Were you able to [free] my sister?"

Hurrnos says, "Thank you so much! I didn't expect that she'd return, but I hope that she'll find a new group of terracites to live with, instead of the duplicitous, war-like ones that surround us here. You are most kind to help a terracite defector."

    You are awarded 660,000,000 experience!
You are awarded 1 gold and some silver!

Some of the maps, AND this database, have Karlees at 32017, 14062. That is the WRONG Karlees! You need to find the Karlees at the 12450, 20100 listed above.

(BTW, the existance of two Karlees has been reported to the CSRs...)

The guards respawn almost immediately. You may have to clear them several times before they take longer to respawn. They were yellow to my level 46 hunter.
