Kill Askafroa, a named Elder Skogsfru. She can be found at 4500, 60000 in Skona Ravine. To find Askafroa, go to the SW corner near Vanern Swamp, at the thickest part of the elder svartskogsfru and whispering willow spawn, near a dead tree and a lone whispering willow surrounded by elder svartskogfrus, Askafroa and the Ash Tree spawn. She is surrounded by trees, and elder skogsfru. She spawns once per game day, not sure the time though. Camp the spot, she will show. Have fun killing skogs and trees until then. She cons yellow to lvl 33.

Additional current info:
She spawned at 1 a.m. for me along with Ash Tree, and both were orange to my 33 skald. The chain armor that she drops is bugged, it has the appearance of Albion chain armor. If you could please, insert a caution into the one-time drop notes about not attacking Ash Tree unless you've got a group or are at least high 30's, low 40's. Askafroa wasn't any trouble at 33, so I pulled Ash Tree, also orange, thinking he's be just as easy. I pulled with snare, but when I started to melee him, 4 ghostly root (small trees, about 2 feet tall), 2 orange con, 2 yellow con; spawn. These trees have DD spells, and they all start casting at once. They took half my life in one barrage. Their spells look like sorc/cabby green spells. I've got screen shots of this encounter if you need proof of the 1 a.m. spawn time or if you need to see the ghostly root dudes.

Rewards:
  Askafroa's Chain Hauberk
  Askafroa's Chain Leggings

my experience

Just did this encounter.. slowly ran to the loc listed on the site and the huge ash tree was there waiting for me.. orange con to 32, and when engaged in melee he spawned multiple tiny trees that casted on me ( 5 or 6 oj and red to 32). Valk needed a seer's help for this part. As soon as that fight was over a huge elf named Askafroa spawned. Easy fight, no adds, oj to 32. Both pieces of armor appeared in my inv. after the fight.. Not too hard and great reward.. fun too!

Well, I finally got this mob last night. Here's what I can offer. Definitely you have to kill the Ash Tree to get Askafroa to spawn - when I arrived, only the Ash Tree and the two static Skogsfrus were there. I killed the Skogsfrus but not the Ash Tree, and waited over an hour with no luck.

I mustered the gumption to kill the Ash Tree, and it wasn't hard at all - the rooters he summons despawn after they cast root on you - and a few minutes after he died the placeholder tree spawned. Killed him, and a few minutes later, Askafroa, Ash Tree, and the two static Skogsfru all spawned at once.

So, the four are linked together, and all four must be down for any one of them to respawn. Since the majority of the time the previous killer of Askafroa would leave the Ash Tree alone along with the other two, you'll just have to kill them all.

Nice items, didn't really need them though, but they salvaged for a total of 80 adamantium or so.

When I arrived at Spawn location, I set up camp on the hill at about 3.3k, 61k. The Ash Tree was already there. Heeding the warnings posted here, I stayed away. After three game days of killing everything in the area, I attacked the Ash Tree. Sure enough, after I smacked it a few times, a bunch of smaller trees appeared (at least six, two orange, four yellow) and rooted me. When I killed the tree, they despawned. Immediately, a Whispering Willow spawned where the Ash tree was. I started killin' everything again....

The Whispering Willow spawn that replaced the Ash tree was a quick respawn.

Fast forward to my fourth game day at the spot: Askafroa spawned! At Noon...orange to a 33.

Moral? Don't fear the Ash Tree if it's already there. Take it out, but don't use any area-effect spells. I'm guessing that if you hit the little guys, they'll eat you for lunch instead of despawning when their big daddy dies.

I just waited for Askafroa to spawn, and she and the Ash Tree never did. Has this quest become a defunct quest? Or is there a bug ?
Anyone...if you know..please answer.

just be veeeeery patient and it might help to kill all the trees and skogsfrus around while waiting. makes waiting time appear shorter and removes the possible placeholder ;)

this can be done at lvl 32. Askafroa was orange to me. but was easily solo'able.

Definately just pull the willow in the middle. There are 2 skogsfru that are static spawns, they do not roam. If they are there right next to the tree, you'll need to clear them as well. Askafroa, the Ash Tree Ghost and the 2 static skogsfru's will spawn fairly quick.

You need only be 33, regardless of Askafroa's level. We did it twice, both times the person got both pieces and one time she conned orange.
