Depending on your faction will determine the path you are given.

Talked to Myfanwy and was sent to Aidaila in TnB.

She told me to see Fereinn on the island in Lough Derg.

I was sent to kill a curm Trapper as proof of my sincerity. Curm's name is Tharl.

Give Fereinn the ear.

Next kill a Courier and bring back the plans.

Assist the Siabra force to defeat the Curms and report back to Fereinn.

He gives you a book which you give to Aidaila.

Then you get your reward.

The Vest

What faction do I need to trigger the side of the quest that gives me the Vest? If it's opposite than what I have now, I can still change it in time. Thanks for any replies.
Not Broken

To succeed at this quest, you *MUST* be the only one (or ones, if in a Group) to kill the enemy! If *anyone* else, at anytime after the battle starts, even does damage to an enemy, that's it. Have to try again later. That includes killing any of the enemy group *while they are on the way to the fight* ! This is especially likely if you are on the Siabra side as the Crums run a ways to get to fight. Also, if you do *not* actually fight OR your side loses, gotta do it again. And you will have to wait till noon the next day. Quest is not broken; just gotta do it correctly. Luck to you all.

Helped the dergans Oct 15, same thing, they stopped fighting half way through, I chased down all the curms in the woods and sometimes they just disappeared as I was fighting them. Time to pass it on to Mythic.

Crum side appears broken

Quest on Crumudgeon side seems broken.

Lvl 19 Hero attempted.

At the step where you have to assist them to victory, about halfway through the fight the crumudgeons just stopped fighting, and after a min, went back into the woods and disappared. I killed every Dergon in the area, and nothing, no dialog, or journal change.

I had the same thing happen. Tried twice, and both times curms/dergans stopped fighting shortly in and walked back the way they came.

Lvl 18 Nightshade, if it matters.

As a level 16 Blademaster the courier cons as Orange.
I'm soloing. So I guess you just have to wait for awhile to complete this one.

I got the quest in Tir Ma Beo from a local armor saleswoman.

RE: PeC

You have to be neutral to either the curmudgeons or the dergans to get this quest. If you follow the Path of Essence then your level 15 quest includes the temporary loan of ******* Signet ring which will make the dergan neutral to you as long as you wear it.

And I clicked "do some work" and got the same tasks as the others (kill a curmudgeon poacher, kill the courier, help the dergs win the battle) so it doesn't seem to matter which answer you give.

I'm a lvl 15 Enchanter and i use to wear this ring but this never turned dergans neutral to me ... I also tried to kill tons of curmudgeon ... didn't help.

Perhaps should I try to kill another ******** of curmudgeon :)

Have to kill lots and lots of curms to get dergans to like you, and vice versa. Took about an hour or so of me & my husband slaughtering the curm camp nearby the dergan woods with Macnol in it to go from aggressive to neutral. (We were on curm faction till we had to do our 15 epic and walk into the middle of that forest.)

The fight between the curms & dergans is a lot of fun, about 10-15 from each side show up and proceed to beat eachother down. Good show. =)
I can't get it! :(

How can I chose a side with either the curms or siabras? I have killed and killed the curms, and my faction with the siabra has went up, but it still wont let me do quest. I have killed so many curms that in a couple more kills the siabras will wont to marry me.

The best way to get this quest is to kill the curm couriers. I killed about 6 of them, at lvl 16 some conned yellow, some orange. I waited for the yellow. I was finally able to get this quest. Of course I also killed a slew of the lower lvl curms which may have helped, but what really got my standing with the Saibras up was killing the couriers. Good Luck all! Filidh Myfanwy walks around in Tir na nOg, but you DON'T need to talk to him to get the quest. Like most Filidhs he is just a source of information. Talk to ANY of them, and they will tell you about quests you can go do.

There are three in na nOg, and three outside walking through Hibernia.

How do you get better fatcion with the curms or siabras?
RE: Better Faction
# Aug 20 2002 at 7:15 PM Rating: Decent
Simple, just kill the other. For example, I killed many dergans and my fraction with the curms went up.
Alternate Version (Curms instead of Siabra)

I got this as a level 23 Warden. My curmudgeon faction was apparently better (I have a huge pile of Siabra bones in my backyard), so I was told to cozy up to Tharl the Curmudgeon. He’s in the Curm camp directly across the lake from Tir na mBeo, south of the parthanan farm near the water. I was really shocked to see that they were all neutral to me – I’ve killed a pile of these smelly fellas in my younger days. Anyway, Tharl says my rep precedes me. I picked “talk” when asked why I came and he sent me to bring him a dergan fury’s ear to prove myself. Quickly ran to the woods north of the parth farm and killed a fury. Returned his ear and Tharl tells me to steal some plans from a Dergan courier who runs between the stone tower and the siabran island.

I went directly to the water’s edge and began heading north again, and almost immediately found the courier not 20 seconds from the curm camp. Killed him and took the Battle Plans back to Tharl. He can’t read very well, but he makes out plans for a derg attack and plots an ambush.

You’re instructed to head back to the meadow between the dergan woods and the parth farm and assist the curm’s surprise attack at noon. At shortly after noon you see a few curms coming from near the shoreline toward the SW corner of the derg woods. They clash with a horde of dergan furies and I stepped in and killed about three of them – an L30 warden killed a few as well. Finally they were all dead and the curms jump for joy. Went back to the curm camp, where Tharl said I was a good friend and gave me a “History of the Curmudgeons” book. Also got 412,870 exp!

I returned the book to Aidaila and she gave me a choice of bracers with either a bonus to strength or empathy. I chose strength and received a Bracer of the Bold, an L16 item giving +6 to strength and +4% body resistance.

Nice, simple, no camping, minimal travel and a decent reward. Check it out!
