Wood Ogre Strikes Back
|
DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different The fourth of the Wood Ogre quests, which you can get at 23. Return to Hunter Valdis (loc=20.5, 53.7 Campacorentin Forest) at the tower when you're 23. He has a plan now, but first he makes you promise that you won't take the credit for the results and especially won't take the reward. (He's apparently heard that Lord Ulfwych was going to pay you out of Hunter Valdis' wages.) You promise and he tells you his plan – you kill all the wood ogre raiders (which you should have done last time under Option 1). He says that the wood ogre warlord has kept in hiding, but when the raiders are about to be wiped out they will blow their horns for reinforcements, and the wood ogre warlord will come out of hiding and respond. Hunter Valdis will get the warlord, and you meet back at the tower to celebrate. [note: if you do this quest immediately following the previous one, the step numbering scheme is honked up and the first step will be numbered 2 or 3 in your journal.] 1) The wood ogre raiders are still about halfway up the hill / ridge which is North of the road as you approach the tower. Kill them all, over and over as needed. In my case the sixth one blew his horn as he died, saying that his brothers were coming. At this point 3 new higher-level wood ogre raiders come rolling over the top of the hill and down to you, shouting “Don't run, puny creature.†At the same time, another horn is blown up the hill and your part is done. 2) You return to the tower. Not surprisingly, Hunter Valdis has bad news – it was a perfect plan, but they jumped him and while he killed many he barely escaped and was unable to get to the warlord. This ends the quest. reward: (at 23) 1,500,000 xp; 24 silver. If you are only 23 Hunter Valdis tells you that there are many more wood ogres in the fortress, and that you should come back when you're older. |
