Regional Distinctions

DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Be forewarned, if you are on dergan faction instead of curm faction, this will mess with your faction a bit. (Small faction hits though, so it's not a huge deal) Also, be sure to tell the npc's the bit in brackets when talking to them throughout the quest, or they won't say anything. Just be sure to check your quest journal as you go along. Talk to Raine, the NPC behind the bar (she is not a barkeep) in Tir na mBeo. She will send you to Lavena in TMB. Raine says, "Hello. I imagine by now you've run into several dergans while exploring the area. They can be dangerous, so be careful with your dealings with them. They are of the unseelie court, you know. They are part of the siabra, and they are everywhere. why, I don't think there's one place not touched by these malevolent dark [elven beings]." Raine says, "Aye. They are evil. Many in Hibernia have had unpleasant dealings with them. Even more have been killed by them. It would be worth your time to learn as much about them as you can. I know a bit about them, but the locals, they would know more. See, I am new to this area, and my knowledge of the unseelie court is more historical impartial observance than anything else. I am not an adventurer, though. You, however, are, and I think you'll discover how important it is to know as much as you can about the unseelie court. Beware though, the locals may demand you show your loyalty to Hibernia with the blood of these evil creatures." Dialog box: Will you head Raine's advice and learn about the unseelie court? You have been given the Regional Distinctions quest. Raine says, "You've made a wise choice. No matter what your dealings with the siabra may be, they are as much of an enemy as the Midgard barbarians and Albion invaders. Talk to Lavena, in town, she has had some recent experience with the unseelie court." [Step #1] Speak to Lavena, in Tir na mBeo, about the [dergans] in the area. Lavena is on the left side of TMB looking at the town, in the first little hut. You say, "What about Dergans in the area?" Lavena says, "Dergans? You want to know about dergans? They are part of the unseelie court. They are defined by their region. Here, in Lough Derg, they go by the name dergans. They have a reason for being here. They all have a unified mission. I'm sure of that. Why, it's common knowledge that when the Lurikeens and Elves decided to come through the Veil to help the land of Hibernia, the [unseelie court] came rushing out as well. It seemed, to some, they had found their own way out, but I know little of that." Lavena says, "Well, I may know why they occupy some of Lough Derg. But I won't be sharing that knowledge with those that aren't willing to take up the fight against the unseelie court. I know they're powerful, I know some feel it pays more to stay on their good side. But I'll not talk with those not willing to fight the evil of the unseelie court. If you wish this knowledge, you must return to me with some of the uncut stones the dergan furys occasionally pick up. You can find dergan furys in the woods northeast of the farm building by the parthanan field." [Step #2] Kill a dergan fury and retrieve an uncut stone. Dergan furys can be found in the woods northeast of the parthanan farm in Lough Derg. Dergan Fury can be found on the island in the lake behind Ardagh; across from Tir na mBeo (green ones to a level 18), or in the forest beside the parth farm. The ones in the forest are higher level, but it doesn't matter where you go. The dergan fury says, "The unseelie court will remember this deed. You will live to regret it!" You recieve uncut stones from the dergan fury! Return the stone to Lavena, and she then sends you to "locals" in Howth. Lavena says, "You are back. Have you retrieved an uncut stone for me?" Lavena says, "Ah. Yes, this is what I meant. You see, the dergans [occupy] our land for a reason." [Step #4] Learn from Lavena why the dergans [occupy] Lough Derg. Lavena says, "Most of Lough Derg was once Tir na mBeo. There are the ruins of a tower here in Lough Derg, they are the ruins of the Tower of Tir na mBeo. I won't tell the story of that tower, for it is common in Hibernia. When the unseelie court flooded Hibernia, some of them overran Lough Derg and began to occupy some areas. They have been here so long, that even though they are members of the unseelie court, the natives of Hibernia began to call them dergans. It's a way to [distinguish] the unseelie court." Lavena says, "The dergans sole interest seems to bein retrieving the lost treasures of the Tower of Tir na mBeo. You could imagine the unseelie court's surprise when they reached the Tower of Tir na mBeo, to find that the once great Elven construct had fallen, and worse, that most of the treasures of the Tower were gone! So they stay here, to seek the treasures, and to search for clues that could lead them to the whereabouts of the treasures. Understand, now, that some of these treasures are items of magic more powerful than anything the unseelie court or the elves now have! As for the rest of the unseelie court, well, they spread our throughout the land. If you travel to Howth, I'm sure you can learn about the unseelie court that has settled in that area. Just talk to the locals." [Step #5] Talk to the locals in Howth to learn about the [unseelie court] residing in Silvermine. Talk to Bevin beside the dye merchants. Bevin asks you to kill a Sheevra Chieftain. Go across the stepping stone bridge south of Howth (or swim across) and go into the valley behind the mushroom ring. Hug the left wall, and take the first left, going past walking rocks. (I wouldn't recommend going directly over the mountains as there are many red-purple aggressives in this area.) Veer to the right when the valley opens up, and a large camp of sheevras will be in front of you. Chieftain spawns inside there. When I saw him, he was behind the hut on the right, so he could be pulled easily to the wall, bringing only one add. Chieftain was blue to me at 18. Return to Bevin, and she sends you to Kylie on the dock in Connla. She asks you to kill an Eiru Kedger. The directions she gives you are somewhat off, and take you through some high level aggressives, but generally: Take the road to Innis Carthaig. It'll go through the valley, turn right, turn left, and when it goes right again, go down into the valley. Loc is approx 49.5k, 42.5k. There is a whole camp of them, but the lowest level one I could find was yellow to an 18. Either bring friends, or go around the camp on the wall, and try to single from the outside. Return to Kylie, and she will send you to Mosby in Tir Uphost. He asks you to kill a Moheran Distorter. I wandered around the cliffs for a full day and didn't see one until nighttime, so they may be a night spawn only. Their camp is behind the gales just off of the road from TNN to Tir Uphost to your left, but I'd suggest killing any wandering ones you see, as the camp is guarded by large ants and many other higher level moherans. Lowest I could find here as well was yellow to an 18, and they are casters. Return to Mosby, and he sends you back to Raine in TMB. She gave me some coin, xp, and a ring. Rings are based on class. Rewards: Skillful Ring -- Bard and Druid Strength Ring -- Blademaster, Champion, Hero, Valewalker and Warden Intelligence Ring -- Eldrich, Enchanter, and Mentalist Resistance Ring -- Ranger and Nightshade Not a bad quest for the item you get, but it might as well be one of the epics with as much as they have you running around Hibernia.
