DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

In this quest you are sent to discover why the Gurites are occupying Lough Gur, when there is nothing there that they should want. The quest begins with Aziliz, in the northern (higher) hut on the island in Lough Derg. You may need to speak with Filidh McFanawy in Tir na Nog in order to get the quest.

Speak with Aziliz. She provides the background information for the quest, and then sends you to talk to Chief Bran Llyr, in Culraid (he's standing outside the treehouse, with the stable keeper).

Aziliz says, Good day. Not many visit me out here. A pity, too! I've been hoping some grand adventurers would come my way. I've been interested in the Unseelie Court. I'm kind of curious about something. As you see, I stay here, on this island of dergans. I've made peace with them. I've been studying them. They think me a harmless researcher, and hope to somehow benefit from my [interest], which is why they let me stay."

Aziliz says, "Yes. My particular interest right now is the gurites. They are in Lough Gur, but to my knowledge, there's not really much value in that area. Why would they stay there? What keeps them? They don't attack Innis Carthaig, which is unlike them. I'm just curious as to why they stay there. Perhaps you could figure it out for me?"

Dialog box: Will you help Aziliz figure out why the gurites remain in Lough Gur?

You have been given the Occupation of Lough Gur quest.

Aziliz says, "Oh great! I appreciate your [willingness] to help me!"

Aziliz says, "Great. Go talk to Chief Bran Llyr. I think he knows quite a bit about the gurites and siabra. He lives in Culraid, in Lough Gur, with Kimba. He may know why the gurites stick around that area."

[Step #1] Talk to Chief Bran Llyr. He can be found in Culraid, in Lough Gur. He resides with Kimba. He may know why the Gurites remain in Lough Gur.

Chief Bran Llyr doesn't know anything, but tells you to see Kern, in Innis Carthaig. Kern is an enchanter, and is found in the last building on the left as you enter the city (near the vault-keeper).

Kern tells you that Barra, also in Innis Carthaig, maintains relations with the Gurites, but will need to provide them with a gift: two swords from Empyrean Keepers. The Empyrean Keepers are found in the northeast part of Bri Leith, at approximately 50000, 15000. The easiest way to get there is to take a horse to Druim Cain, then walk southeast over the hills; I didn't notice anything aggro on the way, although my faction with Empyreans is good. Empyrean Keepers are found in pairs, so you will have to fight both; they were generally yellow at level 26, although there were a few pairs that were blue/yellow.

Return to Barra, a weapon merchant who is located in the stall near the stable keeper. He tells you that he is putting in a good word for you with the Gurites
(after all the generic siabras that I've killed, this did nothing to help me), then tells you to speak with Sarena.

Sarena is also found in Innis Carthaig, and is the poison vendor in the first building on the right as you enter IC. She then tells you to seek out Smidget,
a Cluricaun who lives on the island in the middle of Lough Gur. He can be found on the north side of that island (37000,32000), and you better hope that faerie horses like you, as they're all over the place. There's also the occasional savage fishing bear, a 30+ mob who definitely will not like you. Once you kill Smidget, you receive a gem from him, which you take back to Aziliz (remember Aziliz? she's back in step 1).

Aziliz examines the gem, then sends you to talk with the curmudgeon Curmie.

Curmie can be found right outside of Innis Carthaig, near loc 49300, 29400; this is the last patch of trees on the way to IC. He was orange to me at 26. You have to fight him -- at least, I couldn't get him to respond to anything I said -- and when he dies he screams out "No one gets treasures of Tower of Tir na mBeo."

Return to Aziliz, say "tower of Tir na mBeo." She talks for a minute, concluding with "this requires some more thought," gives 2 g and 1.2MM xp, along with and item.

    Keepers...

It is worth noting that if you take on the Keepers solo, that one will stay out of the combat and continually heal the other. Thus, even if they are blue to a solo attacker, chances are a solo attacker will not win.
