DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Per Read File Fix Jan 02, 2002:
Voices of the Dead - Players should no longer find themselves getting stuck when choosing a reward for this quest.
Per Patch 1.60:
- We have fixed a small issue where Kelsanor could be enticed to leave his area. Now, he will no longer leave his area.
AND
For Co-op:
- Valewalkers and Animists should now be able to complete the Albion quest, Voices of the Dead.

Marden, in Wearyall Village, speaks of the voices he hears and how he is too weak to stop them. He will ask you to help him. He then sends you to speak to Karayan.

Karayan has a gift for you from Arawn, but Arawn requires you to get him a
spirit. Karayan sends you to kill a Decayed Marshman (northish of city,
journal is very much correct and precise in directions for a change)

Kill Decaying Marshman, take the item back to Karayan. Karayan will tell you
your next task, which is to kill Kelsanor. In addition to telling you to kill Kelsanor, Karayan will also give you an item to aid your cause: Arawn's Gift, lvl 42, health regen: value 132, Duration: 30 secs, Cast time 3.0 Secs, power cost 44

Kelsanor is to the east, go past the lone tree on hill to the next set of
ruins. Most of the mobs in the old ruins con green to gray @ lvl 50, so
approach with caution. He is a caster, will disease, dot, nuke etc. At very
low life, he will warp whoever to another part of the hill away from him.
(be prepared for this, I missed the text the first time I did the quest,
actually caught it the second and was more prepared)

Kelansor is really hard to kill. You have to be close to hit to hit him with melee or a spell. At low health he will also port you way the heck away from him. I started it at 42, got my butt kicked by him and then came back with a 50 Reaver at 45 and killed him. Easy way to do it is make sure you get a DoT of some form on him when he gets to low health so that you can kill him if he ports you out.

Take the Essence back to Karayan in Wearyall. Reward was 2bil xp at lvl 48, 10 gold and choice of items. It is NOT class specific. Chose carefully, all types are covered, 2h weapons, Longbow, Shield, Staves, Crushing Weapons, etc. Some of the wording of this quest is off and I had to speak to a CSR to get the proper reward. It has been noted as being 'bugged'

Chosing Longbow: Carved Bone Pin, Longbow 6, Dex 6, Cold 2%, Hits 6, lvl 44
item.

For Friar~~~~ Chose Focus Staves ~~~~ Yes, I know, it sounds very weird and
up to this point only associated with pure casters. Hence why I appealed the
item I chose and wanted to know correct for our class. You will get a choice
of Rejuvenation or Enhancement.

Rejuvenation: Sanative Staff, dps 15.9, spd 4.7, Power 8, hits 15, body 2%,
Focus Bonus: Rejuvenation 44 lvls.

THIS REWARD IS BUGGED. The CSR tested the Focus on the staff, it DOES NOT
work. Casting heals with and without the staff in hand, there was NO
variation. CSR sent it up to the Quest area to be fixed, I asked if I would
receive word or a different item if it was altered, all he could say was
watch for patch notes.

Caster Focus staves are all:
44 levels of focus in your skill
15 hits
2% body
9 power
14.3 DPS

43 Minstril did not receive

Rewards:
  Sanative Staff
  Toe Bone Belt (Alb)
  Staff of the Wrathful
  Telluric Staff
  Woven Bone Sash
  Motriferous Staff
  Bleached Bone Earring
  Carved Bone Bracer
  Somatic Staff
  Carved Bone Bracelet
  Dolorific Staff
  Corporeal Staff
  Blackened Bone Necklace

did this quest with a 44 sorc, 45 cabbie, and a 42 cabbie. was a piece of cake. pulled the 3 disciples out front to get them out of the way, then sent my pet (a disciple) in to engage him, set him on passive for a sec to pull Kelsanor off the pad a bit though he wouldnt' come out to the grass in front. cabbies sent their pets in and once he was pretty damaged i moved into range and hit him with some nukes. he went down real easy, but it's a royal pain to solo unless you're 50. did it again with a 45 merc instead of the 42 cabbie, saw the merc get ported which was kinda funny, but the pets kept him occupied until the merc got back. ended up getting about 1.2 billion XP total at 44 (not including getting nearly a bub of XP pulling his whole camp many many times trying it solo haha. i was in nearly constant combat for about 30 minutes realtime :))

i chose the toebone belt for my scout since my sorc's gear is much, much better than anything he gives out

I could not get this quest while I had Spirit of the Orchard in my journal. After completing the Spirit quest I was able to get the quest from Marden.

I'm a necro - Tried at 42 and got slaughtered.. went back after I got 43 and solo'ed it. Killed all the diciples first so they didn't help during the fight. I just chain lifetapped Kel and got him barely. It's do-able but a challenge.. I'd highly suggest binding at Wearyall if you're planning on giving it a shot.

Highly reccomend anyone 42+ do this quest. The reward is nice no matter what you pick and the XP is actually good for this quest. Quest took only like 10 mins ot get about .5-.6 XP at 42 ... whereas Secret Orders quest took 3 hrs to get .1 and horrible rewards.
Fun quest

Did this alone as 50 fire wiz. Conned blue at 50. Note that this mob has a short engage radius. If you're beyond the set radius, he'll dodge and resist your spells. You have to be in melee range in order to land a hit with a ranged attack, which makes this somewhat difficult for a caster.

After killing some of the disciples near by, I first tried using the level 10 Earth spec dot as a means of killing him without sustaining much damage, but that didn't work very well (What was I thinking...). Then I thought I could run up, qc, nuke, run back, but I didn't damage him enough and he regened too fast. Wielding a level 50 staff, I tried to melee him to death - didn't work. I realized the only way to go about doing this by myself was to run up and just nuke, trying to time it so your half way in your spell cast before he hits you, and hoping you get lucky and he'll miss a couple of times. He didn't appear to be linked, call for help, or anything of that nature.

I ended up killing him three times since the quest didn't advance after the first two attempts. Apparently you need to be standing on the foundation of the broken tower, or you won't be in range to capture his soul. For some reason, on the last attempt, as I was standing on the tower foundation, I didn't experience smiting or teleporting. Perhaps standing on the foundation has an influence on weather or not he does that.

Well anyway, I got the fire focus staff in hopes of it having a spiffy semi-unique graphic, as a nice reward for all my hard work. =| No such luck. Generic staff graphic. It's stats are pretty crappy aswell, even for a 42 wizard. If I were to choose again I'd look into the rings and bracers. Perhaps there is something useful for a caster in there.

Kelsanor conned blue to me at 47. I took out his friends before I went for him. I was able to get his attention with my Incense shout and get him to move a few feet away from his starting location. After that, he hit me with his DoT and insta-nukes. I was able to take him out in about 7 shots (with my new staff and armor).

I got 3/4 of a bubble of experience at 47, plus chose the Sanative staff.

Excellent quest for any.

Note: You cannot get this quest if you are in the middle of the Spirits of the Orchard quest. Not sure if you have to complete it first, or if you can completely skip it if you avoid getting the Spirits of the Orchard quest, but if you have that quest in your quest journal you cannnot start this one.

Also, Kelsanor can be a pain in the **** to kill. I managed to do it solo at 43 as an air theurg, but almost all players (especially casters) will need backup for this, as he's been known to kick level 50 **** occasionally.

After-Action report on my Kelsanor fight:
I'd hunted his disciples occasionally at lower levels, so I knew the area. My earlier attempts to pull kelsanor showed him resistive to every spell, but if I got close to him and aggroed him, he landed "the DOT that never ends" on me (10 tick DOT, but damage was in the teens). Looks to me like he uses the spawning rules for mobs that are tied to a location, which means no casts from outside can hurt him.

After killing all his disciples, I crept up on him. First successful cast was about halfway up the short set of stairs that are on either side of the area. I stuck 4 air elementals on him, then started in on the nukes. With a lucky crit and a QC I got him down to a sliver of health. Ran through him to get out of melee range and was teleported to the edge of the hill. Took a few steps, and was teleported to the same spot again (about 2 seconds between teleports). Didn't attempt to nuke him until I got back to the stairs, but it might be possible once you've pulled him. Last nuke killed him, his disciples respawned on me, and I ran like heck.

Chose the air focus staff, but forgot to write down the stats. Nothing spectacular, so I stuck it in my vault.

Actually, one of Valerias's friends just helped me out with it. As soon as he pulled him at melee range (50th Arms), every one of my DD's Hit, even at the end when he teleported me out to the side of the hill, I was about 5 steps out of range, but DD's all hit as soon as I was in range again. Quest complete.
Seems the mob acts as an epic mob and can't be pulled from a distance.

Thanks Valerias!

This was funny, I had this quest kicking around for a while and finally decided to do it. I'm currently a 47th Full fire wizard, so I figured, no problem, easy. So I run around for a while and everything is fine, until I get to the ruins. I see Kelsanor, all nice and happy, throw up my shields and get ready...
47th level spec bolt (kelsanor dodges)
My other bolt (Kelsanor dodges)
My DD's (until I was at 0 power) (Kelsanor resisted every one)
Now mind you, he never attacked me, his little buds never came to wipe me out...nothing, he just stood there and resisted all my Direct damage spells and dodged my bolts)
SO I figure, maybe I can pull him by killing his guys.....bolt and DD #1, dies, 2, dies, 3, dies...etc, until there is noone left at these ruins EXCEPT Kelsanor.
Bolt, he dodges, Bolt, He dodges, run Direct Damage spells (Ice and fire, just in case he's super fire resistant) He resisted every one.
so, last ditch effort, run right up to him and smash him with my staff.....That gets him going, unfortunatly for me, I'm not going to kill a Blue conned monster with just my staff, I quickcast 1 DD and take about 1/3 of his life away before he downs me.
So lets see, I ran everything in my nice big spell book and can't hit him, but after I wack him with my staff, he doesn't resist my spells at all?
Fun times, I'll have to grab a bud to whack him and then DD him to death I guess...
no love for the clerics?

I finished this quest with my 49 cleric and it was hard to pick an item for my reward. I chose a [smiting] item, thinking it would be something I could use. Instead I got a focus staff that doesn't seem to help smiting at all, at least not for a cleric. I read somewhere on the Herald that there would be an upcoming patch in which there would be cleric items available for this quest and I would be able to trade in the staff I got. An in-game CSR told me the same. The latest patch didn't contain this change. :( If Mythic ever fixes this, please let us know...

Did this quest at lvl 42 with my pole arms and some buddies. Got royally spanked by Kesslor and his cronies first time around. We got him back by pullin him down the hill to the left as you face his tower, only he came that time and we were able to drop him with no problem. Recieved around 9 mil xp (about a bub and a quarter) and I chose the earing for pole. jewelry slot +6 pole +4 con and various other resists. I'll try to submit a screenshot.
GREAT QUEST!
