Master Xavier is in the first building to your left as you enter Caer Diogel. He is located inside on your left.

Master Xavier says, "Good day, though any day you're alive these days is a good day, eh? How do you get on with those of the [Ogre Citadel]?"

Master Xavier says, "Yes, the ogres. Once, they were allies. Now, they are a sensitive bunch, blaming us for their essential exile into the mountains and their last stronghold. They fled before Morgana, pleading with us for aid, not realizing that we were already defeated, fleeing before the evil [Drakoran] hoardes."

Master Xavier says, "Aye. We weren't the sole occupants on this island you know. Once, not long ago, as we measure time, the ogres were our allies. We held this land together minding our own business, for the most part. We helped each other out occasionally. Occasionally we had some arguements that turned into some fighting, but nothing much. Then, Morgana came, and pushed us back, and the ogres back, [as well]."

Master Xavier says, "They wanted us to help them. They somehow expected us to do a better job of defending the island. Truthfully, I think they rallied themselves to late, and relied on us too heavily. They liked to keep to themselves, and when Morgana's Drakoran hoarde appeared and she summoned that dragon up, while we were struggling to hold our city, they [retreated] to their fortresses and citadels."

Master Xavier says, "They watched as our city became overrun. They watched the citizens of Avalon flee. But they assumed we'd handle it. The assumed they were not threatened. Then, the Drakorans [surprised] the ogres."

Master Xavier says, "Honestly, I don't see how they could have been surprised. It was clear to all of us what was happening. Morgana wanted the island, wanted it's magic. Ogres have access to the powerful places in the land. They have [magic] all their own."

Master Xavier says, "Oh yes, Powerful magic. Ogre magic. I know a bit about their [strange] magic."

Master Xavier says, "Oh yes. Here, we face the Drakorans and Morgana's evil. But what of when they are gone? Then, we are faced with the threat of that savage people from the Norse lands. If Albion does not defeat Midgard, then Midgard will defeat us. Now, if Albion got a hold of some of the magic of the ogres in their most powerful [stronghold], think what could be done!"

Master Xavier says, "Well now, before I go telling you about all that, I need to know, would you be willing to find some of their magic? You will need help, a lot of help. So before you agree, be sure you can convince many friends to come along. It's an orb I'm looking for, created by one called the Star Channeler; and it's locked deep inside the Ogre Citadel."

Dialog box: Will you find some of this Ogre magic?

You have been given the Ogre's Might quest.

Master Xavier says, "This item, now, it's in the Ogre Citadel, deep within, a chamber open to the stars. I don't know how to get in it, but I know the ogre there, his name is Scurceol Hydre, and he calls himself a star channeler! He is said to be channeling power from the heavens! Heresy, some say, but there is one who claims to have seen this powerful channeler! Speak to Arden in Caer Diogel about the star channeler. Tell him you're crazy enough to seek out the powerful talisman he's created."

[Step #2] Talk to Arden about the [star channeler].

Arden is the instrument merchant located next to the stairway on outside wall and can be seen directly from entering Caer Diogel.

Arden says, "Greetings friend. What brings you to old Arden?"

You say, "What about the star channeler?"

Arden says, "Ah. The star channeler. The ogre that calls himself that. Rory, my good, and often absent, friend, knows a bit about this ogre and his [power]."

Arden says, "Rory says the ogres don't have magic, and that this one Ogre, he was talking about natural powers that had more to do with a science of application rather than spells and incantations! How absurd, I say! Let the ogres believe what they will, but I know magic, and what this self-claimed star channeler does is not [science] but magic."

Arden says, "Science. Call it what you will. Here is what Rory says happens. There is a room inthe citadel under the stars. There are four golden rings. Rory said the star channeler, named Scurceol Hyrde, calls them nodes. The nodes are powerful. The seem to protect the star channeler. His name is Scurceol Hyrde. I don't pretend to konw how it all works. I can't even tell you how to defeat Scurceol Hyrde, but I know the room is very [dangerous]."

Arden says, "Rory only said the room meant death for anyone not meant to enter. The nodes, he says, semms to be collecting power from the stars! He said storms often brew in the room. He says the ogre that calls himself the star channeler wields lightening! Now, it won't be easy getting in to this chamber, but if you want, I know who has a [map] to the chamber!"

Arden says, "The ogre Malefact. He holds a map. I know this because Rory has tried to obtain this map. Normally, I would get Rory to sneak in, but Rory is missing, lost somewhere in the ogre fortress! Ah, but kill Malefact, and you will have your map. The map will guide you to the star channeler's chamber."

[Step #3] Kill Malefact in the Outerworld of Krondon, to obtain the map to the star channeler's chamber.

Malefact can be found near the entrance to Krondon. You will have a lot of goons to fight if you are KOS.

Malefact says, "Foul traitor to the land! You have failed us, and we fell to the drakoran. Now, you would destroy yourselves?"

[Step #4] Use the map to read it.

Place the map on your quickbar, press the "e" key or the key you have mapped to use an item and hold, then either press the number of the quickbar or click on the map icon to use it. Note: it seems at this time you cannot use the map if you are a necromancer in shade form.

You attempt to use Citadel Map.

My friend Malefact! Here is how you can enter my chamber without having to encounter the Queen or any of her foolish court. When you enter the citadel at first, veer left at the first opportunity. At each point you will receive a gem. They are peices of a final key. You could enter the chamber anyhow, but getting the pieces to the key is the quickest way. You will see, when you finally arrive Malefact, that the key is really a gift for you, my friend.

[Step #5] Veer left after first entering the citadel.

You receive the first key piece from Citadel Map!

Once inside you will get periodic messages as you reach your destination point. You will also receive a piece of the key.

My friend, here you must go straight and take the first left turn you find.

[Step #6] Go straight, then take the right turn, then the first left turn.

You receive a second key piece from Citadel Map!

Keep going straight. Veer right and turn the first right turn. These corridors and passages can be very confusing. After you take the first right, you will then need to take the first left. All this effort to avoid the Queen's chambers.

[Step #7] Go straight through the tunnel, then take the left turn.

You receive a third key piece from Citadel Map!

Go through this tunnel you're in, friend. Then turn left.

[Step #8] Follow this tunnel straight. Don't take any of the turns. Follow the tunnel until you see the beginnings of worked stone.

You receive a fourth key piece from Citadel Map!

Now, here's it's a bit tricky. Go straight through the tunnel. Don't take the left turn. Soon, you'll see the beginnings of worked tunnels.

[Step #9] Follow this tunnel straight to its end. Then, turn left and follow the tunnel until its end. Then, turn right.

You receive a fifth key piece from Citadel Map!

Ah, you can see the ogres here? They are indifferent to me, but I assure you, they have nothing to do with the Queen's bunch. Follow this tunnel straight until it ends. Then turn left until that tunnel ends. Then, turn right. You're almost there.

[Step #10] The chamber of the star tunneler should be directly ahead.

[Step #11] Try to defeat Scurceol Hyrde, the star channeler. Be careful, the room is very danerous.

Kill him! You will have to deal with the nodes first. Then onto him.

You receive a Puzzler's Globe!
You receive a Channeler's Orb!
You receive a Scurceol's Bracer!

[Step #12] Return the strange orb you received to Master Xavier in Caer Diogel.

You give the Channeler's Orb to Master Xavier.

Master Xavier says, "Ah! Well, to be honest, I have no idea what this is! But I will find out. I'm sure it is something that can be used to counter the magic of the Midgard shamans! Thank you my friend, thank you! Oh here, let me take that map as well. You don't need it!"

You are awarded 10 gold and some copper!
You are awarded 2,306,867,200 experience!
You have finished the Ogre's Might quest.

How to get Scout Belt
# Oct 05 2003 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
To get the scout belt, do the following

Simply give the bracers to Norvel, he is standing near the forge in Diogel.

The belt is not quite as written.
Mine is:

Longbow: 3
Dex: 10
Slash: 8%
Thrust: 8%

NOTE: You can only do it as Scout.

Around 8fg without any lame bug exploiting should be enough, done it 3 times... Don't stick the globes, use damage add and pallys run heal-chant on them. After them it's just a regular zerg on the boss.
Crazy

Spent 5 Hours and two attempts trying to get through this thing, and we could not do it... Had 25 or so and 40+ and got him to within a hair of 0 life only to watch him summon a ring and a few of his buddies to stomp on us. Very frustrating. Tried to appeal and they were thrown out... must be working "as intended".

Need a new strategy without the cabby bug.
trade??

can the reward be traded??
trade?
# May 17 2003 at 8:27 PM Rating: Default
I've heard casters get jewel+bracer while other classes get jewel+belt

I'm a wizard and would like the belt $%&ยง$%/ :(

Can it at least be traded, or are the rewards class restricted
this quest is gay
# May 16 2003 at 11:08 PM Rating: Default
apparently the quest has been "fixed" so you can't use the cabby pet to prevent him from regenerating life. Instead he heals himself to full each time. 4 hours of raiding failed because of this lame ****.
Scout ok ?

Is now the quest ok for scout since 1.61 ?
Reward?
# May 08 2003 at 3:05 PM Rating: Default
I see 4 rewards listed. Once you finish the quest do you get to pick which one you want? Or is it more class specific? Or is it just luck of the draw?
Scouts cheated.

As a scout I received no belt, but only the Scurceol's Bracer and the Globe. Ontop of that, the bracer had +parry on them.

I appealed and submitted a quest report on herald. So until you read about them changing it in a patch note, don't bother doing the quest as a Scout.
Quest level.

OK this Quest can be done by level 49. Friend did this last night got 1.6 bubbles into level 49 from it. the exp they show here only part of what you can get.

Also after you kill the orbs and attack Scurceol Hyrde. Make sure keep Cabby pet on him after orb respawns. We did this last night and he didnt regen any life back. We did him with 3 groups.
