I saw the gleam in the King's eyes as Alcmaeon entered the [trials], and the silent signal he gave to the captain of the guard." Scroll Three "I was the one to follow the men the captain sent out. I watched, hidden, as they took up their places to wait for Alcmaeon to reach them. I saw them spring from their hiding places only to stop in confusion when Alcmaeon's face turned to that of the King's. Yes, I saw it with my own eyes that he had the very form of the King! I watched as Alcmaeon realized the plot against him, slew the attackers, and completed the trials. I was also witness to King Boreas' anger and Queen Leda's delight when Alcmaeon returned unscathed. Until now I have held my tongue concerning these matters, but now the time has come to share my story. I do not think it will be believed, but I must tell it."
