DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different Brief Walkthrough: 1) Travel to Vale of Mularn, loc=50658,50826 and speak with Grumbald. 2) Take the Sealed Love Poem from Grumbald to Hildi in Jordheim, loc=23373,24603, across from the forge. 3) Click on Hildi and hand her the poem. 4) When prompted tell Hildi that a [desperate man] sent the poem. 5) Return to Grumbald, tell him what happened to receive your experience and reward. lvl 46 received 429,122,880 experience and Adnil's Magical Orb. Quest Dialog: Travel to Vale of Mularn, loc=50658,50826,4680 dir=15, and speak with Grumbald. You approach Grumbald and inquire about his apparent interest in Hildi. You never knew that trolls could blush, but, sure enough, the troll's stone cheeks slowly turn red. Grumbald says, "H-how did you know? You saw, didn't you? Of course you did, or else you wouldn't be asking me about it. No one was supposed to know. If Gest finds out, it'll be the [end of me]!" Grumbald says, "You won't tell Gest, will you? I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of his apprentice tailors and I'd hate to be sent away because I fell in love with his daughter, [Hildi]." Grumbald sighs as he mentions Hildi's name. Grumbald says, "Don't think that he wouldn't! Since his wife passed away, Hildi is everything to him. He is very careful to keep her away from his apprentices, and with good reason. Imagine what it would be like if every apprentice lost his [heart] to her." Grumbald says, "I just can't help it. It's not like I was trying to get her attention. Well, ok, I never had her attention. She doesn't know how I feel. She doesn't even know who I am. I only found out about her by [accident]." Grumbald says, "I wanted to be the youngest journeyman Jordheim's ever seen, so I started making nightly trips to the forge for additional practice. As luck would have it, Hildi seems to enjoy an evening walk at about the same time. That's when I first [saw her]." Grumbald says, "You probably don't believe in love at first sight, and I didn't, either, at the time. Without speaking a word to me, Hildi changed my mind. I kept going to the forge, both to smith, and with the hope of seeing her [again]." Grumbald says, "I want to get to know her better, but I don't think she'd be interested in me. I'm only an apprentice smith, after all, and a troll. I've come up with an idea, but I don't think I can go [through with it]." Grumbald grins. Grumbald says, "I can't approach her directly, but I've written a poem to express my feelings to her. The only problem is that I haven't figured out a way to deliver it anonymously. I want her to read it and know who I am, but I'm afraid she won't like it, or me. I'll gladly pay you if you would be willing to deliver it for me. " Will you help Grumbald win Hildi's heart? [Level 5] You have been given the Troll, Dark, and Handsome quest. Grumbald says, "That's great! Let me find it for you. Please promise that you won't break the seal on it. The contents are private, and for Hildi's [eyes only]." You receive the Sealed Love Poem from Grumbald! [Step #1] Grumbald has given you the Sealed Love Poem and asked you to deliver it to Hildi in Jordheim without reading it. If you wosh to read Grumbald's poem, delve the Sealed Love Poem for details on how to open it. Grumbald says, "Hildi lives with her father, Gest, in Jordheim. If you do not know where to find them, you can ask the guards for directions. Please do not mention the errand to anyone else. Also, be on the lookout for [Haakon]." Grumbald says, "I've seen her walking with him in the evening. He's the son of one of the other tradeskill guild masters in Jordheim. I don't know if he's courting her, but I wouldn't be surprised. If you see Haakon, please don't mention my name." You will find Hildi in Jordheim, loc=23373,24603,8254 dir=2, across from the forge. Hildi says, "Hello. I don't recognize you, Thane. Are you here to do business with my father, [Gest]?" Hildi says, "You're not? Then what brings [you here]?" You tell Hildi that you have been sent to give her a gift from an anonymous admirer. [Step #2] Deliver the poem to Hildi. She will want to know who it is from once you have given it to her. Hildi says, "A gift for me? How thoughtful! Do you have it with you?" You hand Hildi the poem and she glances at the seal, not recognizing it. She eagerly unfolds the poem, reading quickly. As her eyes move down the page, the corners of her mouth begin to fall. She does not quite frown, but it is clear that she had different expectations. Hildi chuckles nervously when she reads the last of the text. [Step #3] You have delivered Grumbald's poem. If she stops speaking to you, tell her you know the [name] of the person who sent it. After Hildi finishes speaking to you, return to Grumbald in Mularn. Hildi says, "Poetry? This is very dangerous indeed. I should show this to my father. Tell me, who is that seeks to trap me with such a thing? To resort to poetry, he must be a [desperate man]...or did [Haakon] put you up to this?" Selected [desperate man]. Hildi says, "I must take care in determining who I associate with. Something like this could damage my family's reputation. Is it someone that I [know]?" Hildi says, "What is his [name]?" You tell Hildi that her father's apprentice, Grumbald, wrote her the poem and asked you to deliver it to her. Hildi says, "Grumbald? I'd thought him a better person than that. Return to him and tell him that if he tries anything like this again, I'll ask Father to send him away. Poetry and magic are nothing to be trifled with." Return to Grumbald with the news of what happened. Grumbald says, "Ah, you're back! Did you deliver my poem to [Hildi]?" Doing your best to spare Grumbald's feelings, you tell him that Hildi appreciated his thoughtfulness, but that her family is negotiating a marriage contract with Haakon, and that she seems to look forward to marrying him. Grumbald says, "So, she rejected me for Haakon? Can't she see that beneath this stony exterior lies a true and noble heart - that I would love her as she deserves to be loved, instead of being trapped in a cold, socially motivated [marriage] at the behest of her father?" Grumbald appears as though he might have had more to say, though he stops speaking abruptly. He takes a moment to compose himself and then continues. [Step #4] Continue listening to Grumbald's reaction to Hildi's marriage plans. (If the dialogue stops, you can restaart it with the keywords [love me]) Grumbald says, "I-I'm sorry, (your name). I let my feelings get the better of me. I let myself believe for too long that it was going to be just like the Sagas. I know you did your best, and without your help, I would still be in love with a woman who didn't [love me]." Grumbald says, "I have a friend in Jordheim who is training to be an apprentice spellcrafter. Every once in awhile, he brings me a prototype of something that he's working on. When I told him about my dilemma, he gave me a [magical orb] to help me decide what to do." You are awarded 429,122,880 experience! [Step #5] If Grumbald stops talking to you, ask him about the [magical orb] he offered you. Grumbald says, "Here it is. I'd like you to have it as a reward for all your hard work. I'm sure Adnil will craft me another one, and perhaps, in time, I won't need it to make my decisions for me." You receive the Adnil's Magical Orb from Grumbald! You are awarded 15 silver and some copper! You have completed the Troll, Dark, and Handsome quest! lvl 46 received 429,122,880 experience. lvl 49 received 429,122,880 experience. lvl 8 received 2,550 experience. Reward: Reward: |

For a reward of 429,122,880 experience, it would be wise to get this level 5 quest and complete it in the upper 40s.

Did it with my Skald Lvl 49. Got the orb, 15 silver an somme copper. Easy earned 429.122.880 Exp in about 5 mins. Did´n change the letter, ´cause I was to polite to open the letter. Secrecy of letters and so... :-(

Did this with my Valkyrie. If you want to help the big lug, open the letter. This lets you get a chuckle out of his "love poetry" and gives you the chance to improve on it and include a flower (chicks dig flowers). I got a rose from Goi Halfdan in Mularn (loc 52528, 51006 - upstairs in the house behind the Viking and Seer trainers) and had Scribe Osturmir in Jordheim rewrite it (loc 23975, 26604 - Temple of the Aesir). Hildi loved it, and decided to invite Grumbald on one of her walks to get to know him better. Of course, he is thinking of writing another poem before the walk...
