Twitch Turbo

The new premium subscription model for Twitch.tv announced and already live.

Today Twitch.tv launched its new premium subscription model called Twitch Turbo. Owning the new subscription will give viewers an ad-free experience across Twitch.tv as well as a set of features to help them "Stand out from the crowd" in the chat. These new chat features include a new chat badge , a custom emoticon set, and extended chat colors.

If those features don't interest you, Twitch had said in the announcement blog post that these features are only the start of what they want to bring with Turbo and that viewers are encouraged to suggest new features for the system.

Twitch Turbo is already available for purchase at the cost of $8.99 a month. To upgrade just click the "Go Turbo" button at the top of a Twitch.tv page.

Update: For those worried about the streamers, Twitch partners will still be paid for the ads that Turbo users don't see. For partners: At the end of the month the revenue from Turbo user skipped ads will be added to the monthly revenue figures, but partners will not currently see this figure on the revenue dashboard.
