Razer Cortex: The Gamer's Multi-Tool

Find the best price on games, optimize, backup, share and more.

Odds are, you have Steam installed.

If not, you might have at least one of another handful: Origin, Uplay, Desura, Battle.net (Blizzard), Glyph (Trion Worlds), or Capsule (GMG). In an era where 92% of PC game sales are digital, it’s increasingly important for companies to get involved in digital distribution and game management.

Looking to jump into the ring is Razer with its new platform, Cortex.

  • Launch Games: Launch your games
  • Search for Deals: Find the best deals on games from across the web
  • Optimize: “Boost” your performance through optimization
  • Cloud Storage: Back-up your saves, mods, and settings to cloud storage; use anywhere
  • Share: Record and spread your favorite videos and screenshots to YouTube and Facebook

So, they’re not selling anything; they’re looking to improve the entire process of gaming. As of yet, we’re not exactly sure how – or rather if – they’ll monetize Cortex. Let’s hear from Razer about how they describe their new platform:

"As the gaming nerve center, Razer Cortex gives you access to an impressive arsenal of tools to take control of your gaming experience. From combing the web for the best game deals, improving your PC performance in-game, to recording then sharing your in-game moments on Facebook and YouTube, and even backing up your save games in the cloud, Cortex is the free all-in-one software which gives you the best gaming experience possible."

Looking at their old Game Booster tool, this seems more like an overhauled, expanded relaunch of that idea. To get hands-on with Cortex, sign up for Early Access and cross your fingers.
