As we get closer to the end of the year, most of the team's efforts are focused on working on EverQuest’s 23rd expansion. In preparation for the expansion, our August update focuses on AA consolidation and tuning systems.

This update is scheduled for Wednesday, August 17, 2016, and we wanted to give everyone a preview at some of the things that will be coming later this month.

In this update, we’ll have:

  • Many AA Ability Consolidations
  • Improvements to how Runes Stack
  • Adjustments to Riposte
  • Additional Combat Balance
  • Added Quest Flag to MANY Classic Items

The most extensive section of the August update notes will be the list of AA ability lines that have been merged with their activated counterparts. As always, we value your feedback on these upcoming changes, but we ask that you check them out for yourself first (on test or on live servers). We’re grateful for your continued support!

For additional information regarding some of the more notable things that players can expect from this update, see the post here.

Yeah so it looks like Monk's aura won't completely protect them from riposte anymore. This nerf was 10+ years in the making. It looks like they finally nailed it. The post even mentioned how this bug was a contributing factor to the removal of Enrage as a common npc mechanic as it was deemed inconsistently punitive to classes without riposte immunity.

Of course if you want to look at it like a broken skill in the first place as it wasn't working as it was described in game. Then its about frigging time they fixed it. lol

What a downer as far as a patch goes. They are also going to nerf Destructive Force, Furious Rampage, and Rake's Rampage. I have no characters i plan to level using my monk's destructive force anymore but it was really fun pulling 50+ mobs and than killing them off with Destructive Force and Whirlwind Discipline.

They misrepresented their design decisions as being unknown bugs. They were made aware of the Monk Aura during DoDh beta, they knew how to fix the bug back in 2010 and chose to leave it alone as well as give the ability to some degree to all melee. Then they did this nerf. And now they have again nerfed riposte further in stupid ways which makes it less useful in older content. They continue to make older content harder because they are too lazy to make actual new content with new ideas.

Slight boost for knights and warriors, the AE stuff for melee sounds possibly harsh, but won't affect current raids.

Overall, nice patch, great to see them clear up the AA clutter (easier for returning folks).
