Muire Tomb

Type:Dungeon
Realm:Hibernia
Min Level:10
Max Level:28
Description:
Concaire Muire and his family were rich landowners prone to greed and haughtiness. Bitter and ranckled from years of cruel treatment, Muire serfs cast an evil eye upon the family. A dementia slowly started to afflict Concaire Muire until one night, he murdered his entire household and then killed himself. The family's tomb has since been a place of unrest.

As of Dark Age of Camelot Version 1.50, Muire Tomb has been expanded, and there are mobs here that are blue to a level 26, with the dungeon going even lower in past that point.

Found the recruit
# Jul 25 2005 at 5:08 PM Rating: Decent
I entered the tomb, ran down. opps, purps.
Turned to go out, and he stod in the corner where the exit is, "trapped" with a spider infront of him.

Click on the recruit, he begs you to help him. Slay the spider (blue to me at lvl 6)
then talk to the recruit again.

Done

Ok. I just started this game the other day. I am seeing that this tomb is for higher levels. However, I just got a quest called Rattled Recruit for lvls 5-9. I have to get a recruit out of there. However, trying to go in, everything cons purple. Has anyone else seen this quest and how can I complete? I am a lvl 6 Elf Eldritch.

Quest in Murie tomb
# Sep 29 2002 at 11:20 AM Rating: Default
Ok this is kinda weird...NO ONE but me it seems has received this quest. 1st, the only way I received this quest was by transporting out of tomb (not from usual entry/exit either) and was greeted by a person that is no longer there. This person, where i was ported to was on the s/w side of the hill where the tomb is at. He gave me a journal and the journal gave me specific kill task (4 i think.) So far I've done 2 but the 3rd has stumped me. I'm an Elderitch and the journal says I need to kill the 3rd person w/ a sword that is droped from previous kill. Problem is, I can't use a sword, only staff. Anyone else have this quest?? I hope so. I need help.
A new magic drop?

Okay - I took a lvl 26 bard into Muire's Tomb to give a tour to a lower level guildie and decided to go and check out the area behind Connaire. After going down the spiral stairway I was greeted by several Muire Champions (I wasn't surprised by this), in one of the drops that followed I got a large weapon sword, magical of course, but it wasn't the Richly Designed Sword on this pages lists (and no - right now I can't remember it's name). I was wondering if anyone else has gotten this sword that has +1 to LW from any of the Muire Champions, considering it cons blue to my lvl 26 bard I think this is a bit rarer of an item and I'm hoping I'm not the first to have seen this wonderful weapon.

Okay - I now can post the weapon's name - since when I made the initial post it was while DAoC was down - the weapon is called Grizzly Great Sword and has two bonuses - one is +1 to Large Weapons (skill) and I forgot the other in the three minutes it took to get here - I already got the weapon from my lvl 26 bard to my lvl 13 LW Champion - and it cons red to the champion. Keep in mind that this weapon hits a lot harder than the other two LW drops that are known for Muire's Tomb but it is also slower than the other two (I have all 3 LW drops now), but if you ask me - speed is irreverant when you can do that much damage :)

Keep looking for it - it's from either a Muire Hero or a Muire Champion and it's worth it if you have a good ability to use LWs.

The only maps I can find for this place cover 1st and 2nd levels adequately, but don't show all the stairwells leading down to the 3rd level properly at all. I haven't fully explored this yet, so I kinda want to see what I can't get to yet!

from my brief exploration into the tomb, i can suggest if you want a map to guide you to the lower levels i would suggest that you look at the map for the Catacombs in Cornwall/Albion since they appear to be extactly designed the same... as for the monsters down on level 3 and below i have not made it that far, but when i do i will make a post with my findings.. i hope this helps alittle

Ya gotta love 'dem guy for this upgrade... a great place to earn lots of exp. and buff up on some really nice drops too!

Yeah, I know the feeling, the sound effects and all the undead give the place a very "tombish" feel. I'm on vacation in Flordia right now, so I'll have to spend some time in there lookin for drops when I get home. It's real hard to solo in there though, lowbie groups constantly pulling the crypt spiders and mummy hags.

RE: what lvl do you have to be to solo
# Feb 09 2002 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
mid to high teens is a good lvl to hit stuff from the stairs, but since room in the tombs is so tight you have to always keep an eye on aggros. Maniacs training the scorps or ladies-in-waiting are always a problem too. Better to solo in your high teens, I think.

You can pop crypt spiders solo at 11th or 12th level in the entrance (con yellow and blue), but keep an eye out for the Hellhag and her entourage, a wandering mob that periodically goes through the place and slaughters anything that breathes. You're probably better off with at least a two-person tank/healer team, but big groups need good discipline to survive in these tight quarters - it's easy to overpull, especially since lines of sight are extremely short range.

I never spent a lot of time here, as I was around level 20 when I heard about it, but I do know that one of the best Emp caster belts in Hibernia comes from this relatively low level dungeon. The only other two belts I know of come from Spraggon Den, and neither give empathy =/

I found this dungeon to be very fun and exciting. Our first impression really set the tone...there were a dozen graves on the first staircase heading down... We were betwen lev 9-14 and it was very difficult and we had to remain alert, although it was well worth it for the Loot.
Its the first time a game has given me REAL chills since Resident Evil 2. The sounds are good here, and the respawning critters mean you cant run out... The whole claustrophobic atmosphere was a rewarding dungeon crawl if ever there was one.
With some devotion and effort this place could be a guilds' piggy bank, the drops are worthy. Not the best place for leveling but a great expedition for a night's adventuring.

Eh ? Are you absolultely lost ? They farm so they can build up there guild's on hand cash and get magic items for themselves or the lowbies in their guild. If you guildmate can't enter it help him out ! The drops aren't for just guilds it's everybody.

Please explain more ? =\

#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 25 2001 at 4:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) nobody is going to throw you out of the dungeon. You may have a hard time gettin a group though if you don't lose that big chip.. (yeah, the one on your shoulder) get a grip eh? join a group (or solo if you like dying) and split loot like everyone else does. Besides, 90% of all the loot is only good for a person for like 5 levels, so why farm anything? you sound like the guy that joins a dungeon group, then whines every single time he loses the roll. wah this wah that. (hint: EVERYBODY hates that guy, don't be him)
#Aep, Posted: Jan 04 2002 at 9:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) LOL! Hmmmm I never said a thing about groups. I have no problems finding one. Thank You!! You make an assumption that I am a loner that wants all the toys and never share. Wrong! But thats ok sweetie you don't know me. I stand by what I say about guilds. I have one question for you though. If the drops are for only guild members who could use them, why the term Piggy-Bank?

Went here this afternoon with a full group. Great exp in this dungeon plus excellent loot. Here is some of the stuff we got:
1.Melodic Flute:lv 5 Magic Item
Music +1
Charisma +5
2.Belt of the Deranged:lv 5 Magic Item
+15 Hits
3.Lavish Reinforced Boots-Reinforced armor, AF 30, Absorb 19%
+2 Dexterity
+2 Quickness

Some other drops included Old Noble's Boots and Helm, Enchanter Staff of the Adorned (not sure if i spelled that right), Mentalist Staff of the Adorned, Spears, and a Mace. Sorry i cant remember the stats on those items.
Mobs in this zone include Mummy Hags[lv 10-14], Crypt Spiders[lv 9-13], Tomb Creepers[lv 12-16], Death Worms[lv 12-?], Suitor Spirits[lv 14-?] , Murkmen[14-?], Muire-lady-in-waiting[lv ?], and Kacey Muire [lv ?](who is a named Muire-Lady-in-Waiting, spawns with 2 other Muire ladies, so if you cant take them dont even try her). The common loot sells for about 120-600 copper.

From the binding stone in ardee face NW and go up the hill. You will see some large stone obelisks standing along the ridge, follow them until you see a stone hut. That is the entrance. The dungeon is well done, small and a lot of fun. Most of the mobs will agro other mobs of their same type, so a little discipline is necessary. Levelled fast from 11 to 14 here, though my first trip there was tough. Drops include some class specific staves, caster armor, leather armor, reinforced armor, and scale armor. We also got some decent weapons (yellow to level 16).

This dungeon really only supports about 20 adventurers comfortably. More than that and people start stepping on each other's camps.

One of the best things Mythic has done is the anti-train code. If someone trains a bunch of mobs to the entrance right through your group, the mobs will return to their spawn points without molesting anyone as long as you do not attack them.

#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 07 2002 at 10:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There is no anit train code, if it is aggresive to you it WILL agro if it is pulled through your group . If what you say is true, I could walk to the bottom and never get agroed...yea like that will happen =p
RE: Muire Tomb
# Sep 09 2002 at 9:58 AM Rating: Decent
Try reading what was written before you spout off about the anti-train code. You seem to think that the anti-train code means mobs never aggro at all, but that is completely incorrect. All the anti-train code does is cause "trained" mobs to return to their spawn spots without aggro'ing anyone on the way back. Mobs at or near their spawn spots aggro normally, of course. Also if you or someone in your group attacks trained mobs then they will aggro.

If you think you have had problems with trains, it's because you panicked and attacked the trained mobs instead of letting them alone, or because a group of aggressive roamers wandered by your camp and you just *thought* it was a train, or because you or a member of your group caused the "train" to begin with (the anti-train code won't save you from "training" yourself or your groupmates, but that would properly be referred to as an overpull, not a train).

Yesterday I zoned into Muire's to be greeted by a train of Suitor Spirits and other orange-to-me mobs at the entry stairs. All conned aggressive, but they literally walked *through* me peacefully on their way back to their spawn points once the train-engineer zoned out.

So in summary, the anti-train code is working.

I agree, this Tomb is very nicely set up and has some excellent drops, i wouldnt recommend coming here before lv 9 though, because even the mobs at the entrance are lv 10+.

Definetly bring someone along who can rez though, its a major pain to have them spawn back in Ardee or elsewhere

the anti train thing is true....I have done most of my leveling from 10-14 in this place, and on many accaisons have watched as hags, murkmen, and death worms went right by me as I was sitting at the 4-way intersection resting. They won't attack if you don't hit them, however if someone in your group does you will draw the aggro....best bet it to just play nice and let them go back to their places before continuing in the tomb.

Looked around a bit last night. Was only me at first, then a few more showed up, and we killed spiders and mummy hags, all even to a Lvl 11 near the entrance. Had to leave after a higher lvl group went in deeper and brought back a few too many Tomb Keepers (?) to crash the party. These look like larger versions of the Feccans you see getting slaughtered around Ardee, but with nastier dispositions and a significantly nastier smackdown ability. The entrance is a small stone hut or tomb (duh!) on top a a hill to the left of the Wind ghoul field near Ardee

It's location is tricky to find. It is north of the city of Ardee, which is on the main path, at the north end, past Mag Mel and Tir Na Nog. To get there, stay on the path running by Ardee. Go north from there until you can see the bridge crossing the water to your right. Before you get to the bridge, there will be a large clearing in the trees to your left. Head up through that clearing and up the hill where you will see some dead trees and logs on the ground. The first log you come to points in the direction of the entrance to the dungeon. The entrance is to the left, up a hill, and you can't see it until you're close to it because it's behind some trees.

Good luck. The lowest level mob is level 10.
