After killing Swifty (conned orange, but he was a real sucker for my root spell) and getting the ring, but before talking with Sugnhild, I went to see Gudlor. He didn't say anything to me, but I discovered he slipped me the Ring of the Redhands
(+3 hits, +1 quickness) for no effort. Strange. Anyhow, then when I gave Sugnhild the ring, she gave me 40s and let me keep the ring. Returning to Gudlor again does nothing, I get no quest for gauntlets.

Players over level 25 may once again obtain this quest. Talk to Sugnhild in Huginfell. She speaks of a bad last winter and staying on in town because she lost her beloved husband because of it. Her husband was set upon by a creature named Swift who is found near the border gates. She asks you to return the ring Swift stole from her husband. Sugnhild says, "Good day to you. I have heard stories of your travels being told at some of the tables at our local inn. I wish someone like you were around during [last winter]." Sugnhild says, "Last winter was indeed a sad one for me. I lost my [loved one] and also the ring that he gave me in case something might befall him." Sugn hild says, "Aye my friend, my husband was a wonderful man. His name was Fridgier and he was one of the most dashing men I have ever set eyes upon. He was sent on a mission by [Gudlor] and never returned. He said he could not tell me where he was going. I [searched many weeks] for him but to no avail." Sugnhild says, "Gudlor is the town leader, Perhaps you should see him sometime." ***You go see Gudlor after you finished this and he gives you the Protect Huginfell quest. I went to him before completing the Lover's Circle and got the Protect Huginfell, he said to worry about Redhands later, which is another quest called Living Warning. Sugnhild says, "While out one day, I was beset upon by this small sprite andhis followers. He laughed and called me names and then sapped me while I wasn't looking. When I awoke, I was in the bare and left in the woods to die. It was only by the hand of a Skadi that I was able to find furs and food enough to make it back to town. I have never gone out again for that creature stone the [ring] my husband gave me from my finger. All I have left to live for is my duty as a town guard." Sugnhild says, "I wish I could have my ring again. Maybe you could go and get it for me." You have been given the Lover's Circle quest. Sugnhild says, "Oh thank you! I will tell you what I know. The creature that robbed me kept repeating the same words over and over. It said swift as swift may be, you can catch me. I believe I was near the boundary gates but I can't be for sure. I will reward you greatly for my ring if you manage to find it. Journey well and good luck." [Step #1] Search for Swift near the boundary gates. Swift should be around 53000,6400 in West Svealand. She conned yellow at level 17. (Also seen at 56533, 4800 around 6:45am, seems Swift likes to roam a bit.) Swift says, "Get away from me!" Swift says, "I don't have any stupid ring. Leave me alone." Swift drops a ring as she screams in pain. You receive a Ring of Illbane from Swift. You receive XXX experience points! [Step #3] Return the ring to Sugnhild in Huginfel Sugnhild look at you with tears in her eyes, as if waiting for something. Sugnhild says, "Oh, you have returned! Do you have my ring? I will pay you 40 silver for it. Just give it to me." [Step #4] Give the ring to Sugnhild. You give Sugnhild the Ring of Illbane. Sugnhild dances around gleefully showing of her ring. Thank you! Sugnhild says, "Oh thank you so much. I am so happy. Thank you! Thank you! Oh. Oh but wait. Here, you should keep it. You've gone through so much to get it. I've learned it's not the most important thing to me at all." You receive a Ring of Illbane from Sugnhild. You are awarded experience! You have finished the Lover's Circle quest You are awarded 40 silver and some copper! lvl 15 received 223,146 experience. Reward: |

Just to add to this. I also got this quest at level 15. Maybe the min level should be lowered.

I gave her the Ring and got it back with the Gold and Experience ... i think they changed the quest, so you dont need to decide anymore if ya keep the ring or not.

Has anybody figured out why some people get different quests and keep the ring while others don't? Maybe it is because its class related. Healers and shamans who would benefit most from the ring get to keep it and that's that. Warriors who would rather have something else... like gauntlets or helms, get the next part of the quest... any thoughts?

I got the ring and used it for about 3 levels then went back and gave it to Sugnhild. She took it then said she had learned that it wasn't the most important thing and gave it back to me!!!

...got this quest today, killed Swift right up near the barrier gate NW of Audliten. Got the ring, took it back, she celebrates then gives me the ring and 40sp. Nice. Especially since the ring is a +1 to my Mending skill...!

Maybe they changed the result of the quest with v1.37 because I did it this morning and she gave me the ring after taking it. I got the 40 sp and the exp too.

I decided to return the ring cuz I couldn't stand to see her cry...and I thought I might have a shot at something better.
But after giving her the ring and hearing thank me profusely and going back to Gudlor for a chat nothing happens...Gudlor does not respond in anything but thr normal con of: "He is friendly.." etc.
No second part for me...it just died. I had already completed the Aki quest before returning the key.
Im now a 20 lvl shaman (Ingmithril on Bors)

Hi, just wondering what the stats were on those gauntlets.
I've been using the ring...can't seem to part with it =) But im gonna try this out too if i think the gauntlets would be better for me than the ring.
By the way...maybe some of the others who can't get this quest to continue should do the Aki quest in the meantime...maybe that will activate it again with Gudlor?

I killed swift, and got the ring. I gave it back to her, and spoke with Gudlor. He sends me on this Helm of aki quest, and then thats the end of it. Now neither he nor the Lady guard will speak of it again. I am a Norseman Thane... for reference.

It is for Healers and Shamans. It puts their mending skill up 1.

I have killed Swift and turned in the ring. She thanks you as mentioned. But you need to go back to hut # 6 (on map) and talk to Gudlor and get the rest of the story of Sugnhild's husband. If you return the ring he will tell you. After he tells you the story Sugnhild will open up to you and ask for your servive to put her husband's soul to rest. (IE kill him). You should be able to understand from the previous conversation. Once you do that, upon his death he stats the phrase " Cough,,,, coughhhh ahhh,, Tell my wife I love her" Cou... gackkkk ahhhh. Ok OK so he just dies and says tell her I love her. ANYWAY< return to her and she thanks you and asks if there was anyhting he said before he died? There is no "WHITE TEXT" but you need to say "He said he loved you......" Ok, once all done. You get the quest LOVERS REVENGE> you are asked to kill the evil ring leader of the Blodfelags known as REDAHNDS!!! Reward I got was Gauntlets of the redhands. Real nice item But I am a Runemaster. Such is life, I have the undieing gratatude of a friendly guard a least :):)

Does the quest clear if you don't give the ring? I don't wan't another unfinished quest in my que. I still have some <10 level quests I wish I could get rid of.

If you keep the ring, will you not get future quests from her? I already have some rings I would probably use over this one as a skald, though I probably could get more then 40s if I was to sell to someone else.

I got this quest at 15. So, you might not have to wait till 17.

Me too...you can get this quest at level 15 and I finished it at 16.
