DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

This is Part I of an epic quest, and it includes nesting quests: (The nested quests included in this one are Wizard Lost and Barbaric Tales.)

Per Patch 1.53:
Legend of the Lake: We have made some changes to the 15th level portion of this quest in an attempt to bring it up to the level of other quests within the realm. The main change is the addition of two sub-quests to complement the existing "Barbaric Tales" and "Wizard Lost". Players who encounter this step of the quest will be given the option to perform two of the possible four sub-quests. Please note that these changes will not affect players that have already performed this section of the quest.
One of these new quests is Lisreen's Plight.

1. Talk to your trainer. He will tell you that they need to find Excaliber.

2.The first step is to locate the Lady of the Lake. Your journal notes will tell you she can be found at night, either in Snowdonia, Camp. Forest, or the Avalon Marsh.

Through a little research you will find out her name is Lady Nimue. I found her in the lake southeast of Caer Witrin. To get there from Caer Witrin, follow the path leading towards Adribard's Retreat (To the east) and you shall come to a dark grey stone bridge. Do not cross the bridge, instead, turn right along the shoreline and follow it. You shall see a large playground-looking fort, which is actually full of bogmen. She is in between two islands, one with the playground, the other with a bridge connected to the playground island. Swim towards the point where the bridge meets the right-hand island. loc=27631,45026 You will see Lady Nimue standing in the water after you have swam out a little way, she cannot be seen from the shore. She pops from 7pm-5am. (Lady Nimue can be found in Campa Forest during the day at 8380, 47321, and Avalon Marsh during night at 27631, 45026.)

She will then give you a quest called Wizard Lost, something about the wizard Merlin and the Wisdom of Legends, complete it then continue with Legend of the Lake.

3. She will tell you something about the Tome of Legends, and Sir Verin. This is the beginning of a mini-quest called Barbaric Tales.

You can ONLY DO TWO of the four sub-quests, be careful which ones you choose. But it has been said that you actually can do all 4 subquests. You only have to do 2 of them through Nimue.

4. After you complete the two subquests, go visit the mobs that give out the other two quests and you'll be able to do them.

Rewards:
  • Soft Leather Travelers Leggings -- Friar

My Theurgist killed Grilk at level 15 easily, but only by casting the Ice snare on him first -- the mage, Amono, was green and did not come. I made the mistake of trying it again (he was blue, why not go for the xp?) but this time started with pets, and ended up with Grilk continually rooting me while Amono beat me to a pulp with his staff :-(

Also, when you move on to find Ulfwag, bring friends. The wargs are mostly grey or green to you, but even a grey warg that is agro can mess you up when your best armor is a robe. You will need friends just to keep the spawn clear so you can focus on Ulfwag.

I killed Grik easily as a 15th level Thuerigist and the rest of the mobs inside. Approuch the camp from the back and climb up the stones to the guard wall. Follow it to the right, to the entrance and camp there on the wall. With ranged attacks and keeping an eye on who comes up the wall you can kill the whole camp at 15th.

You might try the trainer in Avalon Marsh next to Adribards retreat in the Tower with the stable master. Thats where I picked it up.

When you reach lvl 20, the Lady Nimue sends you to Black Mountains to find a shaman. Does anybody got a clue where to find her?

The shaman is located to the right of the stone bridge in Black Mountains. Just follow the shoreline until you basically have to stop. There is a red dwarf raider theif / bandit camp. The shaman looks like a little blue kobold in front of a stone ring. She has too even smaller dwarf named guards. They should be gray to you and the shaman will be blue at 20.

One more thing. Bring friends. When your done talking to the shaman she will spawn a very large skeleton (yellow at 20) and a couple other spirit looking things.

perhaps this quest ought to be called "Learning how to travel" or "Studies in the migratory path of Valiant Albions"

They certainly have you hoof your booty all over the map, don't they?

After you cross the bridge into Black Mountains go right and on the side of the hill is a red dwarf bandit camp and the shaman stands by the well. After talking to her she will attack and summon a bunch of undead to help out. She drops an ebony collar of the dead. I just finished the lvl 25 part of the friar epic and the reward is a Zealot Staff of the Pious 9dps 2.8speed. +3 staff and another bonus cant rememebr what.

Edit to pst below this, Wizard Cynwik is at Snowdonia Fortress not Snow Station

this quest is in two parts and either start with wizard lost or one for tomes which involve the gobils mentioned below.

The tomes quest gives a gem, woth about 16s, and some good exp. Wizard lost gives you nothing but the magic item. For me, a scout, it was the gloves of archery. Very nice, but was disapointed to see they were yellow con!

    # Nov 30 2001 at 3:47 AM Rating: Default
you can find the wizard on the top floor in the left tower facing the borderlands. Take the ramp through the door on the left as you go through into the fortress, at the top turn left and follow the ramp to the top, then turn round and go to the room in the far left corner. He is in there. Its anoying because he will insult you and tell you to go back to avalon marsh!!!

For the wizards lost portion of this quest, I'm supposed to find Wizard Cynwik (sp?) at Snowdonia Border Station. Well I've run all over Snowdonia Station with no luck. Can anyone help?

The goblin fort where ulfwag is, almost due west of Snowdonia station and look on the N hand side. Camp included Mootang, a shaman and some named King. Ulfwag spawns in the central back of the fort and is not always up. Advise that you clear out mobs as you can, because attacking the King, Mootang or Ulfwag will bring 4-5 helpers regardless of level.

Grilk is in a rotted out house right next to Tepok's Mines entrance. If coming from N Blk Mts, head due west upon entering the S Blk Mts region. You will go up and over a ridge (there is a small band of Goblins at top, including scouts who bring friends), which will dump you into a valley with the Mines entr. Grilk's house is located in S Blk Mts, but very near the border with N Blk Mts region. Again, lots of goblins and black wolves wander here. I would clear out as many as you can first before taking Grilk, as they will assist if you are low enough. You will pull a mage Amono (looks like a Briton) with Grilk. Kill the caster first, as he can mess you up at low levels. Then take out Grilk.

    What is the scout item??

As a scout, it's easy to kill the two goblins... aim for crit shot from distance... pow... then just run, no dealing with mobs, although I did stand and fought every gray and the friar that was with Grilk and only lost 1/2 bar at level 20.

Heh, this quest is also for scouts. When completed you get some nice 100% quality studded type gloves... around AF 30 called Gauntlets or Gloves of Archery... they add like 2 to longbow skill and some quickness and dexterity.

Legend of the Lake is the Friar's (and maybe armsmen, im not sure) epic quest. Friars get AF 30 studded leather legs for this with some small magical stats (100&q/5%b) I am stuck on the 20th friar epic Legend of the Lake quest.
