DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

This is Part I of an epic quest, and it includes nesting quests: (The nested quests included in this one are Wizard Lost and Barbaric Tales.)

Per Patch 1.53:
Legend of the Lake: We have made some changes to the 15th level portion of this quest in an attempt to bring it up to the level of other quests within the realm. The main change is the addition of two sub-quests to complement the existing "Barbaric Tales" and "Wizard Lost". Players who encounter this step of the quest will be given the option to perform two of the possible four sub-quests. Please note that these changes will not affect players that have already performed this section of the quest.
One of these new quests is Lisreen's Plight.

1. Talk to your trainer. He will tell you that they need to find Excaliber.

2.The first step is to locate the Lady of the Lake. Your journal notes will tell you she can be found at night, either in Snowdonia, Camp. Forest, or the Avalon Marsh.

Through a little research you will find out her name is Lady Nimue. I found her in the lake southeast of Caer Witrin. To get there from Caer Witrin, follow the path leading towards Adribard's Retreat (To the east) and you shall come to a dark grey stone bridge. Do not cross the bridge, instead, turn right along the shoreline and follow it. You shall see a large playground-looking fort, which is actually full of bogmen. She is in between two islands, one with the playground, the other with a bridge connected to the playground island. Swim towards the point where the bridge meets the right-hand island. loc=27631,45026 You will see Lady Nimue standing in the water after you have swam out a little way, she cannot be seen from the shore. She pops from 7pm-5am. (Lady Nimue can be found in Campa Forest during the day at 8380, 47321, and Avalon Marsh during night at 27631, 45026.)

She will then give you a quest called Wizard Lost, something about the wizard Merlin and the Wisdom of Legends, complete it then continue with Legend of the Lake.

3. She will tell you something about the Tome of Legends, and Sir Verin. This is the beginning of a mini-quest called Barbaric Tales.

You can ONLY DO TWO of the four sub-quests, be careful which ones you choose. But it has been said that you actually can do all 4 subquests. You only have to do 2 of them through Nimue.

4. After you complete the two subquests, go visit the mobs that give out the other two quests and you'll be able to do them.

First this quest was way too long, the good side of it is from the 2 mini 200k and change exp each quest and the main quest 400k and change thats a total of well over 800,000exp when you do them all plus the item. I gained a level from the monsters I had to kill and the exp rewarded alone. Minus the few Giant LEaper things I killed in the Avalon marsh waiting for it to get dark.

This quest is the longest more boring quest I have done out of the three realms :( Is there any reason to run us all over the planet talking to people who tell us they cant help us to go talk to someone else? It seems to be a whole lot of horse riding for nothing, just send us to where we need to be and be done!

    Questing
    # Jun 24 2002 at 10:16 AM Rating: Default
Frankly, if you are not interested in the whole questing aspect of this, then do yourself a favor and just concentrate on leveling. As noted below, it does take quite a while to do (unless you are extremely familiar with where things are), but it does go by a bit quicker at higher levels.
    CANNOT FIND LADY OF LAKE!!!

I am a level 33 armsman still on Step #5 of the Legend of the Lake 15 epic quest. I cannot find her for Step #5... can someone PLEASE tell me where to find her?

    # Jun 24 2002 at 9:56 AM Rating: Default
The way I make it to her is ....
start from A's retreat and head to Caer Witrin. When you get to the bridge between the two, stop and don't cross it. Make a left and head down the stream passed the golems and leapers. You will begin to see a wood bridge connecting two small islands off in the distance. Swim to the right one ....when you hit the shore stop and take a look around, but remeber she will only show up AFTER SUNSET. She will be on that shore, unless she's bugged which happened a lot when I was looking for her.

    # May 31 2002 at 4:02 AM Rating: Default
Hi, I tried to get this quest with my armsman at lvl 15, 16 and 17. My trainer is just offering some bolts, thats all. No word about quest, about Lady Nimue etc. Whats wrong. I see that armsman can get this quest. And i asked both armsman trainers at Defenders of Albion (one at the 1st floor one at the second). Am I doing something wrong? And I understand that I can't do this quest after i'll be older 19. Pls advise.

Your problem is that you havent completed the other quests that your trainer gave to you before. I had the same problem, all you have to do is complete the quests that they give you at like lvl 7 and 11 i think, then you can do the epic quests. I had the problem for my scout. And as for not being able to do them at a higher lvl, that isnt the case either, cause i did this at lvl 35 with my armsman, so i could do the quests later on. The lvl 40 epic sword rocks! but u have to do all of the other quests before it in order to do this one.

Im 20 now... and I been trying to initiate this quest for a long time. Not for the reward... but so I can do the next ones... 20/25 etc

That is at what level you can GET the quest, not what level you can finish it. Besides, you HAVE to finish it to get the next one.

I've talked to Islia and she sends me to talk to a Green witch, but doesn't say where. Could anyone tell where she resides?

Directly east of C.U. in Camp. Forest. Not too far, you'll see stone circle with a large stone in the middle. It's easier found at night because it glows green... but it really isn't that hard to find.
    Finally
    # May 17 2002 at 3:15 PM Rating: Default
Okay... just got done with this quest. Hate repeating other posts but I thought I'd at least say how it went. It took exactly 5 hours to do and I did it in two sittings. It also took 17 horse rides. I am a lvl 15 Theurg, and got 4 bubs of exp for the entire quest with all the sub quests. When the quest was over, and I talked to The Lady of the Lake for the last time, I got zero exp., 16 copper, and a necklace of the elements (I think that's what it was called) and I'm not exactly sure what effects it has on me. I would have been happier with getting some exp. at the end... I should say: I was expecting more exp. and at least more money (16 copper is a joke after forking out 85 silv. for horses). I died once during the entire quest and that was from being gang-banged by goblins while killing Grilk... and that was only because I had to kill him twice because he didn't drop the tomb the first time (the time I safely ran away of course). All locations found in other postings are correct and you should use those... the only thing I would add is that to find Ulfwag the mystic goblin, go directly west of Snowdonia Station and then veer north after the first forested area. He's in the stone fort on the hill. I went behind the fort and had to climb way up on the hill and look down before I saw him. Trying to go through the front door might be a mistake... the dogs in the area were green to me but they swarmed me as soon as one got my scent. Anyway, I hope this helps someone out there.

The general pattern is if you get an item reward you usually don't get xp and vice versa.

    long but worth it
    # Apr 29 2002 at 6:46 AM Rating: Default
Just did this one as a L15 scout. Took me over 5 hours, and tons of horse rides but the studded gloves add +2 to longbow and you get an even 5 dots of experience. Would have been nice to get something along with the exp for the 2 mini quests included, but since it has to be done, the gloves are a nice reward.

    # Apr 26 2002 at 12:27 PM Rating: Default
A paladin doesn't get this quest!
Read what it says on the top of this page.
And it's given out from your trainer when you hit lvl 15, if you are the correct class. As if this haven't been said enough. Read the posts before you ask.

This quest never ends, do not do it in one siting you will go out of your mind. Is the quest worth it? Yes very much so. But, again a implore you not to do it in one siting I spent over 1 gold on horse rides during this quest it took me 4 hours. Just a word from the wise (and a little less sane).

    Reward Letdown?
    # Mar 06 2002 at 6:58 PM Rating: Decent
from all I've read here, the reward for completing this quest isn't nearly good enough to justify the time necessary to complete it. However, as I'm pretty sure you have to complete this one to get the advanced Epics at 20, 25, 30 and beyond, I guess you have to look past the near term and plan on expending the time/effort.
    RE: Reward Letdown?
    # Mar 07 2002 at 2:28 AM Rating: Default
Acually this quest is only the shoot-of of the 2 quests Wizard Lost and Baberic Tales (that can ce given in random order BTW) and when completing all quests around lvl 15-16 they grant close to a whole lvl of xp alltogether

If you read your quest journal there will be a bracketed word. Type /s (word) to Sir Verin and he will gve you the continuance. The word is probably randomly different for differnet people - mine was Barrbarians. Good Luck

Use whatever word is enclosed in brackets in your journal quest notes. Say this to Sir Verin for the continuation.
