DISCLAIMER: Your Steps and Tasks may be different

Characters that were created after Patch Version 1.79 do not receive this Epic quest.

Go to Tir Uphorst in the Cliffs of Moher and run due east up the hill from the Guard Tower where u will find lots of siabras and a hut and some structures. You may need friends, if you are low level, to clear the siabra camp. Siabras are social and call for help when attacked. Or if you are high level and they con gray to you, they wont even aggro.

Look for the enclosed pointy-roof house and you will find the Druid Harkin and a siabra distorter sometimes spawns in the same room. Right clicking on Druid Harkin gives us nothing useful so /say [the old hermit has awakened] to him. Several things will happen. The Druid will give you an item (Transfixing Robes, looks very similar to a Siabra robe but a lighter hue), a parched scroll (to be delivered to a merchant), then runs out thanking you for freeing him.

Run back west to Tir Uphorst and look for Callough (the weapon merchant under the mushroom). Give him the scroll Harkin gave you and follow the conversation. He will ask you to seek Cathbad in Howth to obtain Bas' Jewel.
This you must do at level 25

Official hint (from Camelot Herald):
  • Players on step 4 that can't get the NPC to respond need to /say [old hermit has awakened] and also must be at least level 20 and have completed The Reawakening quest.

    Faction and Vampiir Reward
    # Dec 16 2004 at 2:26 PM Rating: Decent
As other people have mentioned killing Curmudgeons helps raise your faction so they Moheran Distorters are neutral. For me, I only needed to kill 1.5 bubbles worth for them to go neutral.

    Here's the Vampiir's reward:
    <Begin Info: Biting Daemonite Rapier>

    Magical Bonuses:
    - Strength: 9 pts
    - Piercing: 2 pts
    - Dexterity: 7 pts
    - Style Cost Reduction: 2 pts (PvE Only)

    Damage Modifiers:
    - 8.7 Base DPS
    - 7.5 Clamped DPS
    - 3.4 Weapon Speed
    - 100% Quality
    - 100% Condition
    - Damage Type: Thrust

    Effective Damage:
    - 7.5 DPS

    <End Info>

Camp Conned Blue to me at 22, tried pulling the one by the door and the whole camp came after me. These guys stun and nuke, tops for 69 dmg...was able to get off a HoT and I ran all the way to Tir Uphost lol...Gotta say that i made it with a full hp bar though...but with no crowd control this step seems next to impossible.

Completed this quest as stated with a level 20 Bmaster and myself at 24..Hotkeyed the phrase and after we killed off most of the camp, ran in and said the phrase. Loc of the camp (which i found most annoying to find) is approx. 51456,20809,5684 (right next to my gravestone lol)

You might need to complete The Reawakening quest first before the druid will respond
    Works fine
    # Jun 06 2003 at 5:21 PM Rating: Default
I just finished this part of the quest. It worked fine! I told the Druid [the old hermit has awakened]. No one attacked me. the Moheran Dostorter coned neutral to me. On to the next part.

I'm a 30 valewalker and saying the magic phrase "the old hermit has reawakened" does absolutely nothing. I've done everything correct up to this point and now mythic takes a dump on my shoe for no apparent reason. Any suggestions?

/loc of the druid in moher is 49k/19k..

    50 Eld
    48 Bard
    Better directions
    # Apr 21 2003 at 9:27 PM Rating: Decent
Oy that was a pain....My directions would be go to Tir Urphorst then go to the guard tower near there. Follow the path from the guard tower. Eventually when you see a small hill to your left go up it. Its around there. If you get to what looks like a farm with ghost like things you went too far.
    All bull

i killed the blademaster, but his dialogue window closed befor i could read it. i gave the hermit the deadplant and after traveling back and forth to the chief/harper etc. it said u completed the reawakening quest. i read above to give key to hermit.. should i still?
    What to say
    # Jul 05 2002 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default
Same poster as last message....It tells you the exact phrase in your journal. It doesn't have it highlighted with [] which is odd. Basically you start from where it says "The hermit...." or however it goes. You say that line to the druid and he will run off leaving you with a reply and item. (I missed the reply because I was clicking out of my journal at the time he said it and closed it)

Has anybody ever thought to just kill the high level curm camp that is green/blue to level 22 over by the parthanan farm?

Moheran's are on siabra get good faction with them when killing Curmageddons. Just don't kill the elven whatever they are...the enchanters and rangers that are over there. They give bad siabra faction and are aggro at first.

I did this at 22 for maybe a half hour and am neutral to siabra now. Went to Moheran camp fine and chatted with the druid. I have just had trouble finding Callhoun up until now :)
    Wont wokr

    to get druid
    # May 21 2002 at 2:10 AM Rating: Good
Here's what I did to release the druid, after a few unsuccessful attempts to go it on my own. I grouped with a lvl 21 mentalist. I am level 24. We went to the moheran camp and stood near front of the hut that has druid in it. Together we killed 3 or 4 of the moherans that were in way of getting to the hut. When you attack the moheran standing directly in front of hut, another moheran runs out of hut to get you too. After we killed those, there were lots of moherans in the camp, but I thought, what the hell. I ran in the hut, and said to the druid the magic words "the old hermit has awakened". My and my pal were already getting attacked. It was as if the second I talked to the druid, the whole camp came after us. I didn't read the silly story the druid told me, not a word. I ran, and so did my friend. Lucky thing I'm a fast typer.
    Druid Won't React

I had a L27 Bard friend backup my L21 Druid today and we took on the distorter camp to do this part of the quest. My druid got into the hut and said the specific phrase "The Old Hermit has awakened" to the imprisonded druid. No reaction. Any idea why this is not working?

    1. He's a Bard, this' a Druid/Mentalist/Blademaster multi-part quest.
    2. Some of the parts of the quest can NOT be completed if you're too low in level. And luckily so; I'm not even going to attempt to solo this part till 27 or the camp /cons green.

    not siabras anymore
    # Apr 19 2002 at 4:48 PM Rating: Good
I went to the camp today to find the captured druid. The mobs aren't siabras, they are moheran distorters. They conned blue/yellow to me at lvl 20. They also have scouts. Those conned yellow to me. All were aggressive to me. I left without doing a thing, I'll return at a higher lvl.
    RE: not siabras anymore
    # Aug 28 2002 at 4:22 PM Rating: Default
siabras are a fraction. Dergans and such are under the siabra fraction.
    The druid's location...
    # Apr 16 2002 at 7:58 AM Rating: Good
From the first tower you come to as you leave TNN north gate into the cliffs, take the right fork of the path & follow it until you see a fake bindstone (looks like a bindstone but can't bind).

Go up the hill straight in front of you (north, from memory), avoid the trees & stay to the clearing - there are many siabras here & they pop quite quickly. Take some friends, clear it & run in & out quick. They usually pop just as the quester gets out.

    Hope this helps.
    # Apr 11 2002 at 7:27 AM Rating: Default
From Tir Gorda, take the road toward TNN until you see a dead tree on your left. Climb the hill on your left, the camp is up top.
    Where is the druid?

I'm having a lot of trouble finiding the camp with the imprisoned druid, and I've wandered all around the Cliffs. Anyone have any pointers? Thanks.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 04 2002 at 7:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) there are many camps there, which one?
    RE: b more specific
    # May 09 2002 at 9:59 AM Rating: Good
Just the Morhenian Distroter Camp east of Tir Uphoist. there are about 10 of them and the are VERY social. bring a friend or two
    # May 17 2002 at 2:40 PM Rating: Default
I brought a Mentalist friend (Level 23), and didn't have any trouble... until my pet started "defending" and 3 Moheran Distorters aggroed... My advice is: bring a friend, but if you're a Druid, kill your pet, because they draw too much aggro. Just run in and talk to the druid... I stood talking to the Druid w/ a Moheran Distorter standing there the whole time. Go to the Curmudgeon Camp behind Mag Mell (over the hill and towards Parth Farm) and slaughter the gray curmudgeons to raise your faction w/ the elf races.
